This is, after all, the New Age.

By the way....I'm having lots of fun tonight designing badges for RCH's 'Club 19.5'. Saucy asked me to have at it...so I am just a cuttin' and a pastin' and making some logos.

Does anyone know how to say 'In the data we have faith' in Latin? Or something similar? I think it would be a great motto.

Oh....and just wondering too...what is the line he always says 'third planet on the left and straight ahead' or something? I need the exact quote.

hmmmm....maybe I better post this is the hoagie thread.

At least when I log on to artbell.com I don't have to wait 5 minutes for all the crap ads to finnish loading before I can even navigate. As for Leo it's out of my hands now.

Art

As a side note Art, yes, your site loads without hassle. That's starting to be an unusual quality these days.

I had that problem last night. Apparently, though, there's a cream for it now.

Ummm... Somehow I have a feeling that Jaz will make his own cure "cream."
Once he gets it outta his system he'll feel much better... until the guilt creeps in.

It ain't shopped, it came from the bank in Anchorage, ALaska as a PDF and Keith blacked out the guy's bank routing number and sent as a jpg.

This is what I mean, no matter what you do people are just fill in the blank.
Art

Tell me about it... I work with the public in a professional manner.
I've learned, never assume that people have the same high business ethics that I do.

No matter how loyal I am, some are still suspect that I have ulterior motives, when I have none.
Glad that you have a very loyal core group. Trust me Art, your high ethics are clear to most of us.
Don't let these flyspecks bring you down....little Leo the mouse that roars like a lion.
We're with you!

Love you Art

And of course, you are somewhat handicapped, by the peculiar interests of your audience  ;)

I know we are honest but that guy was telling everybody he could that he slave 24 Hours a day and got zero for it. That makes us out to be cheaters and bad guys, he also posted a hundred dollar payment Keith sent as evidence of how we cheated him, so I guess I will delete the message but I just could not let those lies stand.

Art

I hear you, Art.  Leo is a moron (and maybe mentally ill, too).  Looking forward to tomorrow's MITD!

It's just Catsmile Art. He kids. Sometimes not so well or very clearly.

The number of times Art Bell has trolled & jerked his audience around (me included) over the years? >9000.
The number of times I've done it to Art Bell? 1.
I figured I owed 'em one after all these years.

I did it for the LULZ, for myself. Not for others edification or entertainment.
I'll leave that to the pro writers among us. No sooner than hes crawled out of Norriez ass, hes busy trying to crawl up Bells ass.

Whats next in the Art VS. Leo drama spiral?
Whip out dicks and see which is bigger... length and girth?
Who can out piss the other... distance and duration?
The finale being a pay per view "sword" fight?

I agree.  I'd like to see what they consider a better site for the purpose it serves.

I find the C2C site off-putting.  It's too cluttered with every part of the page screaming out at you for attention.

Art, the guy is a twit you are better off without. I don't think anyone with half a brain cares what this guy says. His news segments weren't even that great to begin with.

Who works for 2 months for no pay anyways? His story doesn't even add up.

Find a better news person & move on. People will get sick of his garbage and he will be quickly forgotten.

Leo is hurt, he's lashing out because he knows that's the only real recourse he has.   The only thing you should be doing, Art, is ignoring the guy.  If anything, be apologetic to the man in the sense that you can say "sorry it didn't work out" but you don't have to kowtow to him either.   Let the negativity flow like Michio Kaku's river of time and the muddy water will clear.   Next, as I said before, get yourself that attorney who can make sure stuff like this never happens again.  Tell the attorney you don't want any drama, you want everything kept private and you want someone to manage this whole thing that you can trust.  Get a few names.  Of course that's going to cost, but in the long run it will be so much better for you.  Just find someone independent where you aren't their cash cow, that's important because people are greedy, as you just saw with Leo.   You may not see it, but it's somewhat likely that others around you may be that way as well.  Whoever it is that the attorney recommends, interview them all and check them out to be sure you aren't their only paycheck or one of a few of their only clients.

Maybe you don't like how C2C is laid out, but the back engine for finding content is far better than the DMDN site.  Essentially, what you have at DMDN is a blog of shows.  Wow, that must have taken a lot of work.   (Not)    If I want to find a specific guest, or date, I pretty much have to click through everything to find it.   It would be next to nothing to set up the archive correctly, and if it had been done properly from the beginning, it would not be a big task to add each show to the database.    The longer Keith waits to grow a pair and build the website the way it ought to be built, the harder that task is going to be.  It's like Falkie's apartment - it's so filthy and disgusting that it will never get done - Keith might dust a shelf or two but the actual work of organizing will never happen.     At some point, Art and Keith are going to LOSE subscribers because people don't just want to pay for easy access to the new shows - a huge part of it is being able to go back and relisten to the old stuff.    But apparently neither of these guys see it.  If Art were smart in this way, he'd demand it.    It wouldn't take a site redesign to do it, either.  It's a simple matter of building the infrastructure, and then Redacted could fill out the next show info and organize it in the right section as part of her daily routine.    Now that I really take a harder look at it, based on what I've seen, I am beginning to wonder if Keith even has the programming skills to complete such a task.   It seems as though he's thrown the DMDN together through a combination of off the shelf modules.

Your idea, what I understand of it, seems to suggest that it would take employees a lot less time to add new information to the website than it now does.  It also sounds as though it would be a one time project.  Couldn't Art subcontract that out, then?  In that scenario, don't many companies hire consultants?  If Keith is so busy, and it seems as though he's working very hard, how would he find time to get such knowledge - and even if he could, is it not better to hire someone with both the knowledge AND the experience?

It would take roughly the same amount of time as it now does, it would just be far better organized.

Yes, that's what I've been saying.   He doesn't need to hire someone on a permanent basis, he just needs to get the system built.   It's really not that difficult.  For that part,  putting together the database with a simple backend UI would take me no more than a day.  IMO, there is more to do, but this is the biggest missing component.

You'd think.  Sounds like maybe you are starting to agree with me.    If other people agree as well maybe something will be done about it.    But if it's only me continuing to *drone* on about it, it isn't going to change anything.    I'm done with this though, I've said what I want to say about it and Art has read it.    What's likely to happen is nothing, including the business suggestions.   Oh well, all I can say is I tried.
