Dateline

Technically, it is Monday in the Eastern Time Zones, so Art's disclosure could occur.  I am just tired. .. worn-out. . .adrenaline overload.

It could get political and CT but I recall enjoying (I guess that is bad description, say interesting) in the OKC bombing stuff because it was happening almost "live" and such a shocking, on-going story with many rumors, changes to official story, differing reports, etc. And Art had various guests, callers, etc and the situation was fluid and so etc.
ps: I also enjoyed/interested in the reports from Antarctic goings-on (doctors evacuated, people under quarantine, and some such stuff, I forget the specifics and wild speculations right now) with updates from LMH, RCH, etc

Other than "guest" and caller generated shows I like the almost "real time" news reporting and shows.

Great suggestions... I'll listen to them! Thanks

But it's Nightvale Radio Tonight!

bobo17

I found Art's coverage of  the night of 911 a moving show.
At that time there was still shock and uncertainty as to what happened.  It was such a sad historical event and 15 years later, listening to that broadcast, brings it all back to reality.

Bugs and the crazy guy flying into area 51, any call from JC
are other great shows

Actually there was 4 nights in a row that are a must listen to. I remember listening live to those shows. They should definitely be listened to from an historical perspective.

That's the biggest benefit for me if he gets on radio.  I've been asking myself why hearing the same caller week after week is disappointing.  I think the old show had this feeling that there was a whole nation of listeners out there who might see something weird and just call the guy they hear sometimes on the radio who deals in that stuff.  You never knew what was going to happen.

A friend of mine--early 20s--recently brought up psychics because she'd heard them on Snoory.  Someone that age is probably not going to hunt down Art's podcast but Dave got her cuz he's on the radio, coming home from work.

The 20-somethings listen to podcasts alright, but not ones you have to pay for.  They all want it to be free.  If Art syndicates the show, then he would have more revenue from increased commercials and perhaps he could make the archives free.

I need to find the archive as I wasn't around to listen to those shows due to overseas work and had to do with CNN international in crappy hotel rooms (and bottles of Jim Beam trying to get thru staff and phone lines jammed or trying to call people back home) but I'll bet it was better, in the engaging way, than the OKC bombing stuff even? Again a horrible thing but, if it was like the previous crime, engaging and "riveting" radio because of the shock and theories and on-going live aspect. I hate "bleeds it leads" style of news but Art's wasn't that way but more caller, guest, speculation, etc.

I hope there aren't any other things like these (or natural disasters and so on where also good radio) but if they happen I hope Art will take local reporters, callers, theorists, etc in "live time." Better than revisionists/CT etc (though that has a place.)

I think that most of us are suffering from "Art Angst".  Here is a song that might help.  Listen to the lyrics and you will hear Art's not-so-hidden message to us.  (And no, it's not Harry's F-You song.)

Open Question: what was your favorite show of Art's from the master archive of C2C?

I want to put together a list so I can verify that I have listened to them.

Thanks

The one when he dumped the guest and called Lionel Fanthorpe to tell us about Spring Heeled Jack

The best thing about Art's current model of broadcast is that if, god forbid, something like 9/11 or some other event occurs Art can, if he wants, get on the air whenever he chooses and with social media he can quickly get the word out that he is broadcasting LIVE.

So if you haven't already followed Art on Facebook do so now or you will miss out. :P

After snooping around, I have got some information. I doubt Art wants you to know whats going on before tomorrow, so you didn't get it from me. Art is replacing Aaron Rodgers as quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. Pretty silly move considering his back problems.

You are way off base. I heard he is replacing Romo.

The late, great Red Elk.  Though I think he was on Art's old show several times, so I can't point to any one episode.  There were allot of nuts in Art's tree back then, but Red Elk had a style all his own.

That deal fell through. Art also told them that instead of a helmet, he wanted to play in one of those foam cheesehead hats, but they would not budge on the issue.

Granted, I spend less time here than I used to spend, but I don't get the SV hate.

Funny guy from my perspective.

It was talk like a pirate day. Nothing personal.

You are mistaken sir. Art was unwilling to budge on the cheesehead hat, and went all in. The Packers balked. As a result the Cowboy accepted Art's offer to play in a cowboy hat.

Didn't Red Elk, RIP, even levitate on air back then? I loved that "proof" of levitation on radio! Ghostwolf, Red Elk, Kathleen Keating, Thompson, Mel, even Mr.Fidget asides. Obviously Malachi, etc and the classics. Great stuff and, better, what Art has now coming up!

Yes, Red Elk said it was very easy to levitate...just a matter of positive thinking.  He also claimed that he could work out in the rain without getting wet, communicate with the lizard people, and ride on the back of a bumble bee.

I agree with this, I like that aspect too. If something major happens, Art can just pop on and cover it.

i hate to say it but...  can't wait to see that actually happen... like maybe not because of some crazy violent event but maybe because of some crazy not violent event... like the announcement that we found life... somewhere.

Absolutely, doesn't have to be bad news, just something big. If we discovered alien life, I'd rather listen to Art cover it live than CNN.

This.

Perhaps even a crossover between MITD & OSOM.

The discovery of alien life and Art breaking into normal programming on DMDN to cover it would be the most epic broadcast ever. I'm sure he'd bring in Hoag. Man, that would be amazing.

Just so long as it's not Art & RCH co-hosting nightly. I love both of their shows but Art needs to stay 'Art'...

Art on Monday - Thursday and Hoagie all weekend long, I would certainly enjoy.  ;)

I was referring to a one off world shattering event. On a normal night it's just Art. :P

I miss the back and forth between Art and RCH. I'd like them to do a show together or even a segment.

"I have Richard Hoagland in the field covering the disc that appeared over Los Angeles. Richard, what are you seeing?"

"Art, the alien came out of the craft and just handed me what is clearly an arcology, something you might find on Mars, but not Earth. I'm sending a picture."

"Richard, it looks like a USB drive."

"A what?"

*crackle* *dead air*

"I said go!"

Sorry, just catching up over morning coffee. It takes me a bit to shake out the cobwebs, these days.
