I think it was/is a time zone issue, whereas members were expiring on the 20th UTC, where the server was set to. So I've reset the timezone on the server to Pacific time and hope this will fix it. The last day before renewal, the 19th, now changes at 12AM pacific time.  Worst case, if I can't reverse this, is we wait until the renewals come in from PayPal. And hopefully tomorrow's expiring members will get renewed in time.

I'm sorry this has happened to as many people as it did, but we are still working out bugs and issues like this as we go along.

NO ONE SHOULD RE-SUBSCRIBE. This will just make the problem worse.

Yes - Keith is on it and will take care of it. No doubt about it. And again - DON'T RE-SUBSCRIBE .. if you were already subscribed -- but if you haven't subscribed yet -- you better REAL quick.

I do hope they are able to sort out all these issues with Skype and the archives and whatnot.  I don't care because I'm a huge fan and I'll still listen regardless but for new listeners or more casual fans it could really turn them off to Art and that's not good.

I really want to hear this story about flight 800. My cousin's son was out on practice with the air national guard that night off Smith's Point. So what is your evaluation of your teachable moments? And I do not mean that to be contentious. My observation is that in very acute/emergent situations learning new coping skills is at best very limited...

From your work in Psychology, you must know that people who've experienced trauma begin to process it immediately--or at least they try.  Frightened and vulnerable, trauma patients often feel further traumatized by the seemingly chaotic ER experience and subsequent hospitalization.  As we go about saving lives our primarily concern as EMS and healthcare workers is obviously to keep the patient hemodynamically stable.  I think there are a few things we can do in the ER to help all patients with the concurrent psychological issues surrounding their injuries or illnesses. Simple relaxation techniques and suggestion are ones that I regularly use.

One of the most valuable courses I ever took was a hypnosis program designed for healthcare workers.  Surrounded by mystery and buried in myth, hypnosis is probably the most misunderstood of all the adjunctive treatment modalities.  Yet basic hypnosis techniques can be quickly and easily utilized in a variety of healthcare situations.  I won't clutter up the AB thread with more stories, but will look for a health-related topics thread in the General Discussions for Onan and other interested in continuing this discussion.

Meanwhile, I would love to see Art have a guest on to discuss The Placebo Effect.  It's an important and fascinating topic that continues to remain a confounding factor in medical research. Irving Kirsch has done some interesting research on the subject, and not without controversy--perfect for Art's show, haha.
