Redacted,

Thanks for booking that fruitcake last night, if you were part of that.

It was quite entertaining.  Please have on the good Doctor for a future show.
Yes, lots of luck in finding entertaining people.  Remember, a lot of this is entertainment for people and don't allow criticism by a few to discourage you concerning particular guests.  The show spans a large arena of topics and not all will please all of us.

Last night's debate was just fine.
Yes, it was interesting how a smart person can believe peculiar things.

Lilith

There is one aspect of the show that makes me uncomfortable sometimes, (Now mind you I'm NOT complaining, just observing) that being when the rush is on for the caller to make their point due to time constraints.  Again, I'm not complaining, I'm just sayin.

Yes.  We don't see how many callers are backed up, waiting, but it seems as though a few calls could have taken a bit longer, like they still had part of their story to tell.

Willis

Some callers take way to long with their story build-up.

We don't need a synopsis of your biography in order to tell a UFO story.

Yes, I don't understand why they can't be asked if they can hang on over the break at least, because most of them have been very interesting IMO.  I'm sure there are good reasons.  I'm not questioning Arts' judgement.  I'm just saying it makes me feel uncomfortable when it happens.

People who didn't like the interview were blaming (Redacted), and if it matters to (Redacted) it matter to Art and Bellgab.

Since Heather just got the Producer position, I'd bet that the guests through to mid-August were not booked by her.  I've sent her approximately 12 suggestions for guests, including paranormal reality TV people (high profile) and experts on Druids, ancient Egypt, witchcraft, etc., etc.  I spent close to three hours online looking up people who fit into the "classic Art Bell guest" mode, and came up with stuff.  I tend to go for experts who already do speaking engagements, since then you know they're (1) considered an expert in their field and (2) have experience talking to the public (and are probably articulate as a result).  The worry is that you get an expert for Art's show who sounds great on paper, but just isn't a good interview due to lack of articulation ability.

I agree with that, I'm not talking about those, I would just do an "Irish Exit" if I was Art on those callers lol's

I have not had a moment until now, but I wanted to thank you for those suggestions.  I will be following up on all of them.  Cheers!  Enjoy tonight's show!

I know Art wants quality sound during his presentation, and I don't blame him.  Me?  I'm with MV, I'm a content person.  Praise MV!

Well, he held over through the break that Australian guy (Will, I think).  That was a good thing.  All I can think is that Art might feel pressure with a lot of callers trying to get through.  The problem is, what really makes the calls unique are the individual touches, which embellish the stories.  After all, an abduction is an abduction, a ghost is a ghost.  The extra information personalizes it and makes you identify.

When you complain about a complainer, makes you a complainer, yourself.  It has nothing to do with thick skin.  Everyone has a right to free speech, whether you agree with them or not.  Every other person wants someone to shut up, all believing they have a right NOT to shut up themselves.  You just can't top that level of hypocrisy.

Yup. This is why you have to do pre-interviews. Out of any 20 books you get from publishers, maybe 10 will be suitable topics, 6 will be authors who actually want to do an interview, and 3 or 4 will be quality guests.

Like Art and many others, too, I want to hear Trump on MiTD.  How's that effort working out?

Yes.

I noticed that many of the complainers were still there complaining at the end of the debate. They hadn't gone away.

And did you notice that they are the same ones every time?

I thought the person who would like a cruise was interesting.

Another thing - you know how sports bars attract a crowd during special events?  I'm wondering if some small local bar or eating establishment would experiment with Art's Time Traveler archives - maybe the best two shows for the weekend?

Sometimes there's a back room in these places that is not used much.  There could be a poster in the window, MITD themed.

Also it is the nature of the show. One day someone will post a complaint that they did not like a show, then the next day someone else posts the same.  If you add them all up it would seem overwhelming...but you cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time...

Theoretically you could.

I'd think you're probably correct.  This week has been like witnessing the results of somebody who gave their two week notice.

Glad to see you sent in some suggestions for Redacted.

We will. Lots of -potentially- interesting guests and ideas on this forum in the various threads (even under "want C2C to cover" which should be merged with "want Art Bell to cover" since does anyone really want an interesting subject/person to be on C2C anymore.) Keep up the good work. As Bateman pointed out just because a book, subject, or person in interesting doesn't mean the person will be live on-air.

Last night's show produced one of the most hilarious threads I have read in a long time.  Truly funny stuff.  Thanks Art.  I must admit, I was irritated with the show, but I have contemplated what Art said about how seemingly smart people can believe such strange things. This makes me think that  a show on cults, and how they operate would be interesting.  I have often wondered how the leader of a cult can persuade seemingly sane people to believe the most bizarre things.  How does this happen?  I will try to come up with a guest suggestion after some research.

Exactly!
Some people 'enjoy' being angry/outraged.
It's a base emotion which generates an instant response.

BTW Bateman, I'm outraged you posted this Stern video in the Art Bell thread!
How dare yew sir!

Yes, last night's BG chat thread was pretty damn funny.  I doubt I would have continued listening if it wasn't for that.  I was starting to have GNS thread flashes, though.  Thankfully, Art was there to pull me back in.

Elvira. We want Elvira. Even if it's just for an hour. Cassandra Peterson is witty and fun. Please. I am actually begging.

she would be an excellent halloween cohost to comment on the spooky stories.

Really excited about George RRRRRR Martin talking Bigfoot tonight!  ;)

I'm going to try and see if I can get Art on the radio tomorrow for the retro feel  ;D. It comes in on a station close to me so I should get it.
