Who is to say that evolutionists are not hoodwinking people?  If aliens land on earth tomorrow and prove they are the authors of DNA, then evolutionist deserve criticism. This is a hypothetical, so, no cringing!

If evolution is the only explanation, then surely bacteria would have evolved to survive in honey, certainly after a million years or so by now.  There are thousands of other brick walls that evolution cannot pierce.

FFS!!!!!!!!!!!

Why the hell would they??!! This is your clinching argument? Fucking aliens? Evolution has been picked over ever since it started. Don't you think that scientists would love to make a name for themselves by shooting holes in it and having books written about them? They can't because they don't have the evidence, except for creationists who spend their time fashioning an argument rather than looking at the data.

Why the hell would bacteria do what you expect? 'Surely' doesn't come into it. Why isn't there a two-headed whortlebeast made out of curtain rings? Surely evolution would have thought of that too? Ergo, science is bullshit.

What a ninny.

I don't care what you are, I just made a point that you are choosing to ignore. Intelligence goes either way here - it's not all cute gurgling babies, it's also cancer and Alzheimers.

You can't have good arguments about this question on either side, it is either right or wrong. If you don't have the confidence to engage in an argument then don't start one. People who claim to be open-minded about this issue are usually disingenuous in my experience.

I didn't start an argument. I posted a comment.  You came into the ring, threw a few jabs, but then you got it in the chin, then high-tailed it.

It's not about cute babies, but a point you missed, the hand of intelligence.  What, cancer and Alzheimer's is evolution now?

hmmmmm......

I've noticed the same thing with the development of the brain.  The human brain appears to progress through the stages of our past evolution as an embryo matures.

That is very interesting...growth mimicking the evolutionary process...

You critique a book as though you've actually read it.  Frauds do shit like that.

It's always in the data.  Is this the ART BELL thread or the Hoaxland thread?

How is this dude? One of my good buddies just started working with him and thinks he's the absolute pinnacle. I caught him a few times on Youtube but I'm a city boy, country music doesn't strike me.

Saw him live in Savannah, GA a few months ago and he sounds as good live as he does in studio. The latest album, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, is far better than the first album, but that's solely based on the subject matter. He was on JRE last September, I believe, and that's where I found out about him.

Psychedelic country music is just a great sub-genre.

;D That's awesome. I could totally get into Psychedelic country. What a great idea for a genre too. I'm excited to see where this goes but from what I've about Sturgill Simpson, he's going to be the next big thing.

I appreciated Art's respect for Jon's views.  But the professor came out the villain, in my opinion, because he was rude, disrespectful, and a condescending buffoon.  The professor had all the ammunition in the world, his knowledge, public opinion on his side, and logic, yet he resorted to schoolyard bully tactics, behaving very much like a scorned woman in divorce proceedings, pouting, shouting, and acting impetuously by constantly threatening to leave the field. I thought it was a subtle smackdown for the professor when Art finally gave him an open to leave, but then he didn't, staying longer to drone on and on some more with his condescending personality, which, in my opinion, has bases with some sort of digestive disease, as is the case of one of my family members, brought on by a diet of convenience and processed foods, none of which provide enough nutrients to behave normally.  Also, people I know who are on meds act like this.  The professor had an opportunity to steal the show yet he pissed it all away.  I just don't like people who use their position of strength to bully victims, behaving like bureaucratic, egomaniacs.  I side with the victims every time, no matter how wrong they might be.

I'll second most of that, but I thought it made for very entertaining radio, providing a repeated need to giggle, which I always appreciate!

Where is this forum where people are saying Redacted is messing everything up by getting her feminine wiles all over it?  It sounds like more fun than this one.

All Greer does is spout techno-babble. He'll talk your ear off without really 'saying' anything.

You'll notice this mode of speech with many of these guests. They have this stream of consciousness of their own proprietary buzzwords, Jargon and esoteric terms, all swirling around their own dissociative savior complex. It's like channeling or something.

Andrew Basiago is another of these types. I'm always suspicious of the ones that have this ability to talk non-stop in this way.

These people may make a 'good show'. and I get that Art is a show man, but these guests really aren't going to 'move the needle' in terms of uncovering any new truth.

Get Kaku and a sci-fi writer on to talk about flat earth/hollow earth as a legitimate thought experiment. I want to hear about solar-system wide discs and the ridiculous physics implied.

Redacted,

Thanks for booking that fruitcake last night, if you were part of that.

It was quite entertaining.  Please have on the good Doctor for a future show.

I'll second most of that, but I thought it made for very entertaining radio, providing a repeated need to giggle, which I always appreciate!

Entertaining radio is the point of all this, right. People can, and will, complain about anything and everything. Different strokes and all that.
Not every show will be for every person & Art himself has said he wants to try new things. He wants to revisit the past topics and guests, but the main goal ( how I understand it) is to take the listeners to new heights & explore new topics and formats.  He is creating a new beast in this world of over exposed paranromal hacks and posers.
He wants new blood, & that's exactly what we got last night.

I won't lie, It was exhausting at times. I was angry &  frustrated at one moment, then laughing and amazed at the next.  I was rivited & very entertained. That's the whole point!  Wild horse porn couldn't have driven me away from the first 90 minutes of the show.

Just look at the page count at the halfway point in the live thread last night. 33 pages! On par with July 20th.
Art and company are doing something right & people are still talking about it today. That's the mark of a good show and a good showman. Controversy sells and Art knows this basic fact.
I wouldn't want to hear this debate format every night, but every once in awhile is fine by me.

I for one appreciate and applaud shows like last night.
It gets the blood pumping!
Well done!

Edit: BTW Brig, I'm not necessarily responding directly to your point even though I quoted you directly. rather, I'm  using your post as a springboard to convey my opinion and observations about last night.  You understand. :)

I noticed that many of the complainers were still there complaining at the end of the debate. They hadn't gone away.

I have to add here, that I appreciate the intense giggle factor I get from reading the posts of the complainers. lols

Carry On, complainers !!  You are VERY entertaining, and you make MV MONEY!

chefist

Also it is the nature of the show. One day someone will post a complaint that they did not like a show, then the next day someone else posts the same.  If you add them all up it would seem overwhelming...but you cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time...

I'm sure Art reads these, but in the end will use ratings to judge how his efforts are working...also, he is not a slave to the ratings, which has to make his life incredibly free and exciting!

Honestly, there hasn't been a single MITD program so far that I haven't enjoyed.  There was one guest I found annoying, (I won't say which one, its not important, because I enjoy being annoyed and frustrated just as much as I enjoy being entertained)  Even if the show has an annoying guest, I always enjoy the callers.  ESPECIALLY when they're vaguely lovable gabblings.

I think Mr. Rushmore was much more spiritually inspiring before we defaced it.  I look at a baby and have no idea whether that kid will end up being a credit to the world or a human horror show, and I'll bet you have no idea as well.
When Norry looks at a baby he thinks "is it a mean baby?"

I enjoyed the show last night. Excellent to have such bizarre theories (though I guess for most of humanity's existence  Jon's theory was the prevalent one and the "round earthers" were the nutsos) and also having a "legitimate" guest willing to debate and even listen, a bit, to the crazy people. Art was doing a good job allowing people to get a word in and keeping it on track, at least as "on track" a show about a flat earth, fake moon landings, and the sun being 3,000 miles away can be "on track." Keep up the good work Art! Love it!

brig, wouldn't you say that about a third of the calls are gabbers? Pretty close I think.

(And of course the other two thirds are Australians.)

And thus likely appreciates feedback, even if delivered a bit stridently at times
