Several pages ago, a post indicated that, for the most part, Art is avoiding pre 1972 bumper music.
What is different about pre '72?
Is it costlier?

Short answer: Yes. I believe The Turtles are to blame

Nancy was surreptitiously insinuating that the guy is a bit of a flake on Bella-Haven tonight.  Then she guiltily voiced a little half-hearted sermon on how they (she and Rose) need to find a way to not speak negatively about other people on their show (i.e., to put a positive spin on their characters even when their actions might suggest otherwise).

Kinda like when she called into the gabcast the other night trying to whine about RCH getting "her spot" because her show was "the better show" while attempting to drive a bunch of drama right into the gabcast hosts, MV, etc, etc?  Of course there was a half-hearted "tee-hee I don't mean anything by all of this....." after the gabcast hosts were very professional and nice about telling her no, in no uncertain terms.  IMO they were too nice.

Maybe she is going to do the same about Redacted.

Wasn't this the second cancellation in the short time we've been broadcasting?  Maybe Dave put a hex on us?  Ahhh - that's why Art needs the witch.

I know you'll be flooded with well wishes today but I'm getting mine in here early.
Congratulations Redacted! Great choice Art!

Listening to Art's Open Lines now and they are just masterful.  Not only is Art the polar opposite of Dave but so are his callers.

Thanks for posting this.
Friedman is always interesting and although I've never heard of the first guy (which only reflects on my ignorance), the subject is fascinating.

Well hi everybody. As you might guess I have been a very busy guy. I hear the buzz about the new price coming August 20th but I have been telling people about it and there is still plenty of time to join and be frozen at the five buck price. It is the Time Travel people who allow the live show to be free so we think it is still a good deal. This was only done after we were able to figure expense for operating.

When you do this for yourself, you pay for it yourself. Many people have the Idea that the Internet is free, they are wrong!

BTW, first person to figure out our new Producer gets a gold star.

I note that both of Art's guests tonight mysteriously cancelled, and Art has not given forth a good reason for that (unless I missed it).  I wonder if Noory got to them:  told them he'd never have them on c2c ever again if they went on Art's show.

It's too bad George doesn't put the same effort into the show that he does with his 'side' projects, kissing corporate ass, and trying to undermine Art

Maybe he knows his show would still suck so why bother

saucerlike

I haven't listened to last night's show yet, at least I know what to expect.  Got a job (finally) and can't stay up til 3AM anymore.  Tonight sounds good, don't know if I'll be able to listen though.

Congratulations (Redacted)! I wish you the best in this new adventure.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions and will be able to build a solid roster of worthy guests.

Is there a way to be more pro active with people like last night's no shows? Is it acceptable to point blank ask if they are likely to be swayed by threats of banning from a certain show? It would be nice to cull them from the herd before they get to pull a no show stunt.

I hope that Art gets an apology and an explanation from them. If they realized by now that they had missed their appointed appearance and had a shred of integrity, they would man up.

I know AB likes open lines, but I do not.
Would much rather hear an interview between 2 brilliant people.
If I wanna hear a yokel, I'll go to work.
Can't wait to hear Monday's guest.

Where do you work?  I'll call.

I think, over time, she'll be able to form a 'go to' list of people to whom to turn in case of last minute cancellations.  The show is young and they have to establish connections.

Does this mean that you are going to have even less time for our budding relationship?  Yeah, sure, I'm happy for you, but, what about us?  With ART so large in your life now, is there room there for just some guy?  You know.  Me.

Amiga,

What a crazy month we've had ey? You and I are the only ones that know the extent of what each other's paths have been like... When Art asked if we wanted to take a ride you and I both practically tipped over our desks jumping up to say Hell Yes!  Now look what happened. Thank you so much for being such a humble and pleasant travel companion. I believe that items in our overhead compartments may have shifted during flight but we didn't crash. It hasn't been an easy year but it's looking like a good one. As the Book of Changes states; Perseverence furthers!

You will always be (Redacted) to me and I hope that I will remain ab to you. Speaking for myself and a large majority of Gabblings, we've got your back!

I will always cherish our midnight drive into the Pahrump Valley, me blasting Rush over the car stereo, and you not just tolerating my dweebness, but dorking out along with me, and the high strangeness of what we were up to lighting up our brains like a fancy slot machine. Wow, did that really happen? I guess so, since you've now got the most awesome email address I've ever seen!  8)

Congratulations girlfriend! I leave you with this lyrical Neal Peart flashback from our midnight Ghost Ride:

Carry all those phantoms
Through bitter wind and stormy skies
From the desert to the mountain
From the lowest low to the highest high
Like a ghost rider

Thanks pyewacket, for a great and important post.  I would also like to hear an apology and explanation from the guests who were no-show ... that is beyond unprofessional and Art and the listeners really do deserve feedback from them!!!

Art's open lines last night was a great show (and I don't think we missed Bassett & company) BUT I for one despise this unprofessional behavior they displayed by not showing up and not letting anyone know why!

I'm really excited about what Art said about the ratings, when they come out, there will be a shock.

Does anyone else think the callers are more saavy on this show than they were on Sirius or the ones now on C2C?  A lot is Art's relaxed way of conversing with people, I suppose.  I thought that with the smaller audience now open lines would not be interesting, but it is.

The callers are certainly more real and entertaining than that "other" crap show.  I'll have to admit I'm looking forward to the night when things have settled-in, we're all used to having Art back, and we don't have to hear everybody keep welcoming Art back.   ;)

Don't get me wrong.  I more than understand all the caller's excitement but Art certainly has more patience than I do.  ;)  Let's get on with the show!
