You can never have too much Art but I'm more than happy with what we have now.  I AM THRILLED!

My thirst is quenched.  Until tonight.

There are sometimes multiple ways of pronunciation and differences are often made for various regions and countries - but did you hear the news announcer mispronounce the Thames?  THAT is a REAL faux pas.

Yes there were three seriously mispronounced words in that segment -- Thames, Olympus Mons, and one other I can't remember.  I just thought it was funny, kind of how Art can't figure out too/to.  I guess that's why he talks for a living while I cast my pearls of orthographic perfection here in obscurity.

I honestly feel that MITD might take off BIGGER AND FASTER than anyone would expect due to the international audience.  I'm surprised to hear so many outside of the US calling and posting about Art and their appreciation for his return.  C2C IMO barely caters to the US market, and completely alienates the foreign markets.  So last night we had Australia (and 2-3 of them!), Scotland, Philippines and Graham calling from England! This is going to be a wild and crazy ride!

With an international audience, the potential is huge.  Once word gets out, it could go exponential in a hurry.  I think even Art may be surprised.

Plus, with the quality of the show and the interest international callers will add, it is going to be just that much better.  Well, excluding Jazmunda, of course. ;)

The show was great last night...a couple of glitches at the beginning, but the rest of the show was technically flawless.

Art, you seemed to have a little bit of the nervous jitters at the beginning (only long time listeners would notice), but once Graham Hancock joined, you were in the groove and it was classic Art Bell, all the way....:-)

I'm really excited to have you 'back on the air', but I can tell I'm going to be losing a lot of sleep...LOL :-)

Poor Dave must be wetting himself, right now......

Can I just say â€" and I know people are going to throw vegetables at me â€" that I miss Evelyn Paglini and damn, it would've been cool to hear her raspy voice on Art's new show? Maybe he can bring in someone to channel her. DO IT, ART!

I always thought they were good together in the old days. George kind of diluted her, bless his heart.

Neil

Art, loved your interview with Graham, last night!  Just like it was years ago...thinking all day about listening to your great shows at night.  Keep up the great work!

I got the dope on unfamiliar dope last night!

HumanBeing

Kind of disappointed Art is having a guest on his show so soon that was on the SiriusXM show  :-\
I guess I expected someone with a bit more ummph tonight in Art's opening week back.

RoseGirl

Oh I had a great time listening to Art interview Graham last night. Such a pleasure. To have actual intelligent, engaged and genuine voices back on the radio.....oh how we have missed you, Art.

And the Rose lady??? Completely classic. Her reaction to realizing she was actually talking to Art was priceless. And I love love love the fact that she measures the sizes of UFOs in trailer parks. She's my girl!!!

I must admit, being a Time Traveller I have listened to the show a few times over already. Is that wrong?

Whoever is taking care of piracy PM me ASAP

It is honorable to be trying to report pirated Art Bell stuff. But quite honestly it will fail, other huge companies have tried. It is futile.
You might be able to stop most of the youtube stuff but as far as torrent sites, especially piratebay(who could give a rat's ass about dcma notices), good luck with that.

I've recently been listening to some of this Batchelor guy's show, and amazed at how he doesn't just read the guest's books, he devours them like nobody I ever heard.  So unlike some moron idiot clown fool person we know.  Appropriate.  And cool.

VALDEZ!

I've missed your C2C commentaries in the GNS thread!

(Yeah, like an old dog taking a sentimental walk around a much-loved block, I'm feeling the need to waste time today by leaving my mark *cough* in a few favorite threads and catching up on comments. Bear with me while I get reacquainted.)

Glad to have Art back in business again, even if the show is at an "ungodly hour" in my region..as Art said it, there is always the subscription backlogs.
Also best wishes for the bellgab team, amazing what this forum tuned up to be in a few years :D

I am too. I'm elated to have Art back however I don't think the topic or the guest is a great choice for both debut week or an international audience. There are a lot of really mixed feelings out there about Iraq, WMA's etc. This is the week IMHO to hook a new generation of listeners and to give his old fans a great ride after waiting so long for him to return. I don't think this guest or topic will do either...but hey, I could be dead wrong.

I only heard the archived version, but I don't recall any more disasters after the first one where Hancock disappeared after a couple of minutes. If I had a gripe overall it would be that things got rushed in the final hour and that the callers didn't add very much - you felt that Art had more interesting things to say and handing the last 20 minutes over to a few attention seekers didn't really add much to the show..

I've never quite understood the need in talk radio to 'go to the phones'.  If Art is out of questions and the show would be otherwise winding down for the night that's one thing, but I don't think Art needs callers just for the sake of having callers - too often they're pointless, if not tedious.

That's a good point. Art and Rush are in a league of their own. Rush does many shows where he doesn't take calls, just because there was more than enough topics and content to cover.

Scorch

He's off to a great start.  I'm sure Jaz only counts for a small percentageof this...
(Just kidding luv U Jaz!)

Since Art's been doing radio longer than probably 98% of the members of this board have been alive, I'll defer to his judgement on guest selection. He doesn't have a corporate producer cramming guests down his throat, so this was his pick.

Faddis has been on with Jerry Doyle (another great interviewer) occasionally & comes across very knowledgeable. Good pick given the world situation & current events.

If Art's going for current events occasionally, his Craig Winn & Howard Bloom interviews were great. I liked that Art discussed aspects of Islam, but did it with class & respect.

yeah, that sucks.  you shouldn't be seeing that message any longer.

btw... sorry about the server hiccup a few minutes ago.  we're still working on some finishing touches with the server upgrade.  better to do it now than tonight...

Thanks sugar britches. Appreciate all the hard work you do

Toxic Fluid

A typical Art Bell outstanding performance!  He hasn't lost anything.  The energy, aparent in his voice is still there.
We are in for a good ride this time.
It's too bad I am having such a tough time with PayPal.
Until I am able to get the payment thing worked out, I won't get to listen to the archive.
Thanks for the show Art.  ;D

Hancock was scheduled for Sirius, but he was never actually on.  I thought he was entertaining.  The mysteries of ancient civilizations is a great topic, especially for an international audience.  What guest would have brought "ummph" to the show for you?

Great show Art! Rose was adorable. Happy *sigh*  :)

That show just FELT to its core like old Art/C2C...DM on Sirius never really did, but knowing that so many people have access to the show, that it's on the radio, and the guest just blasted me back. Felt like I was 12 again trying to connect to broadcast.com/RealPlayer or something. Bravo Art & co, that was just an amazing first show. Keep it up!

I think part of it is to make the show inclusive, to let listeners ask their question.

But if, say, 5 people get thru, that's an infinitesimally small percentage of the number of people listening, it's not like everyone or even most get to ask their question

So much time is wasted ''hi Art how are you'', ''turn down you radio'', ''caller do you have a question''.  Ugh.  I'd rather just hear Art's questions until he's finished with the guest

I agree wholeheartedly. I loved hearing that Rose lady call in last night, that was classic and Art was in full form for the Hancock interview. I'm also a big fan of the new paranormal news segment at the bottom of the hour. Out of nowhere head transplants and fossilized sperm news stories. Just thrilling, can't wait for tonight.
