I live in a state capital where, used to, you couldn't throw a rock without hitting a lawyer.  That was before we ran out of rocks.  My point is that, among other things, poor old Art is likely lawyered-out.  And he's  seen his successor lawyered and processed into meatless baloney.  Noory was already meatless baloney - now he's pure, 100 percent, generic dumb.  It even appears Noory's critics and practical jokers are being lawyered-up with parodied disclaimers and copyright claims that, strangely enough, might stand up in court.......

Art has a proven track record of coming back after he was not coming back, EVER. And if he doesn't comeback, none of us will ever know why or if he ever considered it or if it was even an option.

But he's never been 66, living abroad with a new family. And all of those "comebacks" resulted in his leaving eventually anyway. He's gone.

To rehash, Art is under a no-el-competo contractual clause.
How do you know this? I really have to believe that since Art was holding all the cards back in the day in regards to C2C, he, or his lawyers would have had the leverage to negotiate this out of his contract. If I was Art, I would have said, "Non-compete agreement?. I don' think so."

art is pushing 70.  he is a former smoker.  he's DONE. how much more life you think is left in this guy?  former smoker.  inactive lifestyle.  i'm assuming he didn't watch his diet.

i hate to sound morbid ... but ...

HEY GUYS DID YOU HEAR ART BELL QUIT COAST

George49

Its an interesting coincidence how George responded to a caller who was questioning what Art has been up to the other night on open lines.

GN:"I don't have any idea. Art doesn't talk to us much anymore."

In other words Art wants to distance and doesn't care about C2C anymore. The show is in decline and shake ups are abound in the future most likely. Will Art be somehow on the way back? We shall see...

You would have to look up when and why non-compete clauses are in a contract.

This is Art Bell from the mighty 500,000 Watt, XRG Radio, Coahuila, Mexico......

Wanna take a ride?

(Let's see how long it takes for that one to circle the internet.)

Ha ha, funny stuff. That would be great.
.............

All I'm saying is, never say never. He doesn't have to apply for a job. All he has to do is pick up the phone. He doesn't have to fall into a syndicated show. He can start on one station again. It would take off from there. Some of the biggest impediments I see - he works nights. Can't do that in the 'Pines, and it looks like he is staying. And he has no apparent good help. He had Ramona, indispensable.

He can do radio at his age, no problemo. Most likely he is not coming back. Just don't count him out, you never know. It's very doable if he wanted to.

When did Art quit smoking?  Right up through 2010, I've heard him bemoaning the fact that he can't give up the smokes.  Hope you're right, b_dubb.  :o

Thanks for the links.  XER Radio.  I still have XRG in my brain, probably from those thumping border stations that used to suddenly overpower the car radio.  Rockin' Roll Cajunta, followed at midnight by preachers with heal-all-hankies.

Need a name for Art's new show, though.  How's this for starters (cue the announcer):

"Chuparrrrrrr Estoooo, PremRad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Con Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrt

"Bell!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I don't think Art let his listeners decide if what his guest was saying was bullshit.  I remember lots of times he called them on their bs and that's a big difference between him and one-size-fits-all Noory.

I remember Art saying memorable things like, "Well, forgive me for pointing this out Mr. Guest, but my job is to help the listeners understand how today's prediction compares with your previous prediction of just the opposite.  Can you help me do that?"

Priceless.  Today we get  a host startled awake, muttering, "Er, yes indeed, they want to control us...something's certainly going on and guest here has more for us.  So get ready for THAT."

Agreed.  There are just too many reasons for him not to return.  If he did, it might be after this 2012 doomsday stuff is done with and hopefully the world starts getting over its acrophobia.  Bell is uniquely qualified for the occasion, in part because the people trying to get us there will talk to him.  In the meantime I am hoping to occasionally spook PremRad with false rumors as retribution for replacing Bell with a blind shill.
I'm basically repeating what you have been saying all along, but consider this scenario down the road:    What happens when Asia asks to drive?

"Sorry, Hon, Daddy has to go back to work.  You'll have to wait until you're 21, I mean, 31."

MV/Liberace!

Well then. Looks like this thread has certainly reached the end of its life cycle.

It will forever be preserved and remembered.

I noticed that the same amount of people are lurking and same amount of members signed in as usual, so I guess they are looking at something!

what's the story behind the picture?

mib12890

The guy running the page got a guy who lives in Makati, someone named "Rob", to take a picture of Art.  That's all I know.

Just when I think it's safe to go into the water, Art shows up with an iPad.

Happy 4/20 everyone.

If it's real, that's pretty cool. However, photoshop is an amazing program and because of that I will always be a bit skeptical.

someone please photoshop his mustache back.

It would be fun to have a photo archive of Art over the years, just amass all the pictures we've individually collected and/or have been posted here.  I wonder if Michael V. has a photo album feature he could add to this site?

Art looks healthy and well, doesn't he? Although there's not much of an aura of mystery without the black shirt, the mustache and the dangling cigarette (damn that Rod Sterling!) but when you retire, it's kind of nice to be able to give up pointless "images" and just relax with the kids.

I'm retired myself and quite honestly, wild horses couldn't drag me back--no matter what the salary.  Very quickly you realize the luxury of owning the time you have left.  It's priceless.

I'm happy for Art and focusing now on moving Noory to, um, a position more compatible with his talents.

The General

Art looks great.

It is real, as far as I can tell.  Rob, a member of coastgab here, and a friend of Art's in the Philippines took this for the "People who miss Art Bell" facebook page.  This is the same guy who debunked the fake "Arthur W Bell III" facebook profile, discrediting the announcement, and effectively ending all the misinformation.  Thanks Rob!
