Looks that way...I really liked the very clear audio from the Sirius DM shows...and the Skype calls sounded very good!

From what I've heard of programs that take Skype calls, they sound clearer than cell phones 9 times out of 10.

Here's what I loved about hearing Art over AM radio.  It was late at night and I was usually in bed or working at my desk.  The house was quiet and the window curtains were drawn.  It's a time of the night when it's easy (and enjoyable) to suspend belief.  The pop and crackle of the radio lent to notion of isolation... like I was all alone in some remote locked room at the edge of the world.

I agree though with Art's post.  What I considered enjoyable then may not be what I desire today.  I'm looking forward to high quality stereo.  However, if there's an option for terrestrial shortwave... I may give that a try too.

It's almost jarring to hear such good audio.
I need a little crackle and fade in my conspiracy phone calls.
The clarity is too much.

I agree The General, as a red diaper doper baby radiohead from the olden daze, I've always prefered my radio to be like my love life, a little dirty. It makes it more exciting.

I always felt that when Art became irritated by cell phones or bad connections, that spilled over into the show and it just seemed he became grumpy afterwards...If clear calls keep Art happy, then that tickles the sh#t out of me! :-)

Haha, no worries, my skin is fine I was just interested that people really are not for the most part at all sure of what they want. Also what was romantic for them a decade ago might just be something that irritates them now. I would keep that in mind for myself.

Art

Art, I would imagine that when you were still doing Coast â€" you were getting comped pretty frequently with books, movies, documentaries etc. Do you have an avenue (that could be publicized) for people to get that sort of media-stuff in front of you?

Profound observation, lol, an audience like desperate, bored housewives who flag down truckers for an afternoon of delight.

Radio is magic. I fall asleep every night with the radio tuned between stations, just for the noise.  I'm sure that I conditioned my brain that way after years of listening to Art on C2C. Part of the fun of listening, at least for me, was deliberately trying to pick the show up when signals would cross over from other states. I almost always preferred doing it that way to listening on my local affiliate. I feel like shortwave would honor that legacy.

When you're in the woods, camping alone, listening to shortwave, picking up radio oddities, whether they're scramblers, numbers stations, HAARP, or plasma ejections from Jupiter's magnetosphere, it's scarier than thinking Bigfoot's outside your tent.

It's gonna be great.

Yes, call it romantic or nostalgic. I'm enjoying the new popularity in vinyl records. Old/New releases in 180 gram vinyl sound great. Or is it me feeling nostalgic wanting to place the needle on the record? I've been visiting record stores my entire life and still have my record collection. Is digital sound better than Vinyl? That debate is ongoing. The Nostalgic side in me will always make me lean towards vinyl.

Digital broadcasting? Art is right. Use whatever resources to get the best sound. Especially if it is going out around the world (and beyond)! I can't get a decent AM signal for my local news station KQV-AM. Wow does it sound great listening to it over the internet! In this case I go digital.

Davebots

I think I have come up with an idea to filter out the Davebots. You know when you register for a website and there is a simple question you have to answer to make sure you are a human (like they show you a picture of an orange and you have to type that it is an orange you see). We could have a question like "There is a fire and you can only save either a little kid or a turkey sandwich, which one would you save?"

That should do it.

Art could shout the show out his backdoor and I'd be happy.

However, whenever, or wherever... I am all in!
I won't be happy until Art shouts the show out my backdoor while I float on an air mattress in the pool.

Yes. The way subscription RSS feeds work is that when you subscribe you'll have a username and password to the MitD site and you copy the RSS feed address and paste it into iTunes or Downcast, any podcatcher pretty much, and then you'll have to put in your username and password, same one for the site, in order to get access to the feed. That earlier comment about Zunes was just a joke.

Sorry for the run on sentence, but that's essentially how it should work.
Thanks!  That is totally awesome!

I still mess round with cb radios and they haven't been cool since the 70's. I don't know if it's nostalgia. I just think cool is cool, and cool shit is timeless.

I still enjoy black and white Bogart movies.  Classics are timeless, for those fortunate enough to be able to appreciate them.

Dave could broadcast in the highest fidelity known and he'd still suck.

I love old films too.  They usually have better plots and characterizations than the tripe that's out today.  It's too bad that there's a lot of people who won't even look at a movie if it's in black and white.  They don't know what they're missing. Thank God for TCM.
