40 seconds in, it just feels right for an Art Bell opening.

Great choice! Yes, this one has my vote. :)

As for names, I do like Midnight in the Desert but agree it may be too long.

How about After Dark?
"After Dark" is already the name of an existing show on the Dark Matter Radio Network.

I think that "Midnight Ride" is a good shorter alternate version of Midnight in the Desert and also adds the "wanna take a ride?" vibe too...

Some more off the top of my head. I've had years of listening to Open Lines and thinking what if.

Ok I have a idea, how about a poll at the top:

Best name for the show

Dark Matter

Midnight in the Desert

The Art Bell show

How about also an "other" selection and also add "Midnight Ride" as a shorter alternative to "Midnight in the Desert" ?

I voted for "Midnight in the Desert" in the poll since that was the only viable option listed, but "Midnight Ride" would be a good alternative if you wanted it shorter.

WOW - NEW FAVORITE #1 with a bullet... perfect for you Art.  It's an instrumental and you (and *Ross*) could talk over it as long as you like. Again PERFECT!! Seriously.

I still think "Midnight Calls" is perfect. And since it is not an option will not be voting. Being from IL . I despise polls that are rigged.  ;)

No joking now, I would love to have Snowden on, I have seen several Interviews with him and he is hyper intelligent.

Art
I cannot think of a better guest (well, maybe- but that would make for one of the most amazing interviews ever.)  The only problem is that to get the interview would require all kinds of prep with technology to keep his location undisclosed.  Still, one can dream.

Please vote in the new poll, everybody. Thx.
I wanted two choices as it really was a toss up between midnight in the desert (chosen) and after dark... I hate making decisions.

Government Black Project Employee Line.  Wait.  Jaz might have come up with that one already.

Mine was for Low Level Employees so your suggestion can be for Middle to Upper Management. :)

I think your first suggestion could be widened to Pilots and Passengers Who Have Seen Unexplained Things Line.

Again . perfect . will keep bumping til Art says yea or not .. seems retro/familiar but just enough different and it just FITS. If we can't have The Oh of Pleasure - this is IT.

EDIT - even the first arpeggio intro would make a good bumper "welcome back" thingy. But when it kicks in it's ALL Art Bell-like feeling.

u7 was playing old Art Bell Dreamland shows yesterday, but a few hours ago they went silent and now show a mysterious countdown clock at their website:

Hmm . a certain "Bay" did a similar thing not long ago. Wonder what it could mean?

Art, please note that no one here (I don't believe) has cited "Ride My Seesaw" as an opening theme.  I think it's fine for bumper music during the show, but NOT to hear every night when the show is starting.  Just seems wrong.

So many good ones suggested here.  Please consider them all. An instrumental, please.  :-*

I really loved "Ride My Seesaw" as the opening theme!  Great with headphones.
This review is coming from someone that can't stand 60s -70s "dinosaur" rock n roll of any kind, anymore.
The same 200 classic rock tunes played over and over again for 50 years on the radio, boring...
But, I  mostly like Art's bumper music

.....I shot the sheriff but I didn't shoot this lame song

....You can't always get what you want, but if you try, you'll fine a different channel

.....We don't need no edmacation, we don't no need no thoughts at all
All in All I'd rather throw this brick through the wall

kilowhat

"On the "George Noory Sucks" line, you're on the air!" The volume of calls would be phenomenal.

How about "Resurrection" for a show title? Just came to mind.

Salutations to all. Just joined today. I would've sooner, but got so deep into reading the posts last year, and its taken me this long to finally surface for air.

I agree .. that Moody Blues tune was good for a bumper but WAY too tedious for an intro .. with the spoken intro and the build up was WAY too .. well just sucky and overly LONG .. and I absolutely LOVE the song and the Moody Blues .. but NEVER felt like See Saw fit . at . all. and . never . did . period .

phrodo

If you wanna go with The Moody Blues .. this one at about :50 in would work better and be equally as cosmic....

The Moody Blues - To Our Children's Children's Children [Full Remastered Album + Bonus Tracks á´´á´°]

IMHO - light years better than seesaw .. well minus the ride schtick stuff... = lame IMHO. Rides are overrated .. unless it's from Steppenwolf.  ;D

Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride

But me ... I'm just a classic kinda guy...
