Art Bell

I think Art's post has to be about C2C. Even though it could be interpreted as being about Asia, I would find it pretty darn surprising that he would write all that about a 4 year old.  A young adult leaving home, sure, but a kid in pre-school?  Doesn't add up.

"even if we do not like the path they have chosen" - The only path Asia is choosing is the one to the cookie jar where the Oreo's are stashed.  Comments like that have to be about George et al.

bmd88, nice post -- Now I actually feel a little bit embarassed that I didn't get it when I first read Art's post.

Max_TO

Glad to finally here something from Art but I find myself asking , why now ? Coast under Georgy boy has been just as sucky as ever and Art has still done his bit on the show .

This leads me to believe that Coast , under George , has planes to become even more sucky and these changes for the " new Coast " were relieved to Art at some point after Art's ghost to ghost broadcast .

I think it's a safe bet to say that coast will be under going some new changes that most of us will not be happy with at all .

Interesting to point out , Art gave his HAM channel that he spends most of his time on , perhaps giving us the chance to talk with him over shortwave ?

I just wish Art had of given us some indacation as to wether or not he plans on ever having another radio show ?

So if we've established the general opinion that in his message, Art intentionally refrains from mentioning coast, the natural question to ask next is why?

Another thing he avoided was his future in radio in general.

I hate to read super far into this, but you'd think that if he had no plans to return to radio, he'd have mentioned it. Or would have had no problem mentioning it. His future in radio is the elephant in the room and he intentionally avoided it. All he did say was that it's possible he'd come back to the desert?

It just seems like there's something going on. I get the feeling from every single person officially involved that there is a cat in the bag waiting to be dropped. If there isn't something going on, why avoid saying it? Or saying something like:

"As you know I am winding down and don't plan on doing any shows folks!"

Unless he does plan on it?

On the other hand, maybe he was just typing those things about the show because it was bugging the shit out of him and that was all he had to say about it.

aquagoat

OK OK OK ........... it's taken all the Einsteins to figure Art was using allegory, metaphorically speaking, and thus the desert was not to go to Muhammed but .......................

Through all the jawbonin' and How-dee-doos, all he wanted to tell us was smack in the middle - three simple words that we all should have noted immediately made Anagrammy's reading of the lay of the land a work of Art, inasmuch as the tracking of the hounds was perfect-issimo.

Ever clever. and after starting this all off by showing us his old school Journalism bones with that -30- at the end of his riddle ( "30" is what all reporters wrote at the bottom of their copy to indicate 'the end' before handing it over to the editor's desk.)  he agains pulls a J-school no no and BURIED THE LEAD.

And what, you ask, is that crazy ol fool jazzin' 'bout this time outta the park?

I',m tellin ya he said it all, kiddies, so we can close up shop, end the string and move onto the real pertinent - like why does a RADIO GUY need to dye his hair and ]stache soooo much ---- yeah, that's all we gotta ponder for the interrum, coz Papa AB told ALL his CHil''en he's a coming home soon enough.

Three words, kiddies, three words . . .  and all the debatin and suppositionin' is done with ..... coz Art done told us ...................................... "NEVER SAY NEVER"

Please by kind when the collection tray comes your way, brothers and sisters, and drive carefully on the way home.
PRAISE BE< HALLELHAHA and AMEN folks, AMEN again.

Hey AquaGoat, another cool post. I agree with you about Noory's hair and other irrational behavior unbecoming of a radio host, it's all highly questionable...

FortRock

Art has a Military Operation Type Mindset! You do not give the plan out to anyone at anytime unless your ready to move on it! Art got the Password to make this comment for Mid-February in Mid-December, and to the time and care to phrase it JUST RIGHT, right now! You know Art did not directly say he's retired, just that he left Radio Titanic! George had Alan Corbeth on when HE retired, and Alan has just dropped out of any contact like a UFO took him to their planet or something. Art said nothing about the future, because he cannot. I have this theory as to why I cannot get in touch with Alan Corbeth! He's been in Manila working with Art on the new show! Last night I listened to George Knapp, and a caller brought up Art's retirement, and George had a very 8th Month Pregnent Pause about the word "retirement". I wish I had access to a voice stress meter to run that segment through. Knapp knows something, and will not share with Coast Producers. His guest, Col. John Alexander complemented Knapp as "one journalist who protects his sources at all costs". There is a secret out there that is ready to blow public! We all know about Art's attachment to Bob Crane of C. Crane Radio. A couple of my former fellow Art Bell Chatclub members from Portland have had very strange perhaps predictive dreams. They have seen a dream showing them the C. Crane Company Website with a promotional ad for an Art Bell Radio Show, and announcing they're departure as a sponsor of Coast! These people have had predictive dreams before, one predicting at a Club Meeting the election of George W. Bush to the Presidency in the Summer of 1997! I MAY HAVE BEEN PREDICTIVE MYSELF, my ex-girlfriend who's psychic, she was stunned with my feelings on the issue of George Noory's connection to WWCR and it's accusations of molestation by Art Bell! She saw in a prediction a newspaper story in a major US newspaper confirming this around the time of a Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Perhaps this Summer! The paper looked to her a little like the Las Vegas Review-Journal! Any rate, this is coming to a head SOON!

Just for archival purposes, here is the show when Art announces his remarriage and moving to the Philippines.

It actually kinda gives me the "creeps" listening to it - when taking phone calls, he constantly asks callers if they've gone to the website to see how beautiful his wife is... anyways, here it is:

You can download  the announcement by clicking  HERE

We've always been puzzled about the silence from Art because he used to say he couldn't do the show without including personal stuff, "That's me," he would say.  I am pleased and delighted with all the speculation and comments and, of course, want to throw mine in the pile.

I think the timing is a key thing.  Art posted this on Fantastic Forum right after we here were posting that the thread was dying, and I said that even a wake must come to an end and the mourners move on.  This tells me that Art is definitely reading this forum. OF COURSE he is, radio hosts have to have an ego and he doesn't do show prep any more, so he's going to be in the first row with us, his loyal fans, watching himself be proven right.  How could he resist...  I am still laughing at Onan's observation that George Noory would not give us any information, but that he might drool something.  YES, exactly.  I can just picture Art leaning back in his chair, smoking, listening to Noory and swearing under his breath, groaning, like we do when we hear these gaffes only worse.

I have now memorized Noory's basic ten responses and could give a Noory interview myself.  In fact, I think I'll email Saturday Night Live and see if they're interested in a parody.

Back to speculation-- Also of interest is what Art did not say.  We can assume the gag order and thanks, Art, for figuring a workaround.  He did not say he had retired from radio, or his back was acting up, or someone was suing him, or any of the other reasons he has usually offered freely for stepping away from the mike.  He just said he was letting Coast to Coast go.

So I think he cared enough to offer an explanation for his leaving, which was so long in coming it feels like he wanted to see what the fanbase would do if he just disappeared.  And how Clear Channel would handle the fan reaction.  He didn't like it when the Art Quits Coast thread looked like it was dying--so is that ego, or does he want to preserve some energy for a new venture?

I feel more optimistic than before we received this message.

Huh, Anagrammy?  Are you telling me that the SnoreMeister is already not a SNL parody?  Please tell me the truth about this.  I trust you.

anagrammy

Aldous, here's the truth-- the only reason I keep listening to any George Noory interviews is the Tina Fey factor.  Remember how SNL writers worked up the infamous Sarah Palin interview parody WITHOUT CHANGING ANY OF HER WORDS and their ratings went through the roof?

It was a comedic moment made in heaven.  A public person so clueless she is a walking parody without realizing it.  This is what George Noory has become.  He is the antithesis of Art Bell.  He is the doofus radio host and the show has now become, to me, a parody of itself.

And it's getting worse.  Just think of the word "articulate".  Wouldn't that be --you would think-- a REQUIREMENT for a radio host?   I can picture the execs sitting around asking each other how this man can be still getting decent ratings... but oh, well, do we really care WHY people are listening as long as they are listening?

I was wondering, WHY is it that people are still listening?  Do you think this might be some progressed spin-off of some type of gvmt MK/ULTRA MndFk blak op project?

And BTW, I appreciate your perspective and attitude.  Would you be my anagrammy too?

Here's something that popped into my mind a couple of minutes ago, this Art Bell Message was timed not for when our thread was slowing down! Look at the calender, it's almost the end of February, which ends a 4-month drought of Art not being on the air. I don't know where this is coming from, space or somewhere else, but Art will announce sometime in March his plans to return to the air! An announcement is coming soon!

Hi all, new poster  here, but longtime C2C fan going back to when Art broadcasted from The Plaza in Vegas....  Those were the days,  eh!!!     ;D   Really enjoying all of the great  posts and comments here.  I listened last night to the last hour of the Snoory Meister (as much a I hate to admit to listening to GN)   and think possibly he had a Freudian slip.... did anyone else catch his "credits" at the close of the show, where he reads off the other  host names...Ian, Knapp, then the show producers, etc.....but then he also said "and Art Bell" at the very end!     I just thought that this was quite interesting, don't know if it was intentional or not...or just GN just being asleep at the mic as usual!

morphiaflow

GN's continuing acknowledgment of Art at the end of the show is a couple things.

1) He's been saying it for almost ten years, so it's verbal muscle memory--he would probably have to train himself to NOT say it.

2) He's covering his ass with Art's fans who would jump all over him if he STOPPED saying it.

3) It's his--and the producers'--way of "acknowledging" that the show started with Art whether or not he's currently involved with it. Pretty much an extension of #2. More covering his ass.

He says it every night. It's not a sign. It's not a symbol. It's just habit/CYA.

morphiaflow

And btw, I'm not defending GN or even playing devils' advocate--that show under his stewardship has lost me and I have zero respect for him; I'm merely explaining the mindset and reasoning behind the continuing illusion that Art still has some kind of connection to the show. I'm constantly surprised that people keep mentioning it in "what can it mean?" terms, when the fact is it's simply something Noory has done every night since he took over. At first and maybe for a long time after, while he was still feeling his way as host and Art was more involved, I'm sure there was some sincerity in George's deference to Art. Now, I suspect, with Art's final cutting of the ties, it's just posturing and putting a game face on it.

That said, if George ever STOPS mentioning Art's name--THAT is when I'd wonder wtf is going on. Just sayin'.

George Noory would include Mahmoud Ahmadinejad every night if someone wrote it on his cue cards.

For anyone seeking alternative listening, there's a coupla interesting shows from here in the Great White North (snowbound Toronto)
First is    http://www.richardsyrett.com/     Richard Syrett actually once hosted an Open lines Friday C2C on about an hours notice - a very interesting dude if the Illuminati conspiracy is your thing,
Second is A View From Space hosted by -- wait for it --- "The Spaceman"" (and sadly, no, it isn;t baseball's Bill Lee) - http://www.640toronto.com/HostsandShows/AViewFromSpace.aspx  ---- still Gary Bell runs a fun ship for the few hours he squeezez in every weekend.

Rick

PS - Anagrammy - great songbird you've had leave the nest.  Talk her into coming up north - I'd suggest a club name of Hugh;s Room - would be just the ticket, ambience wise for her Shannon McNally tinged sound (but definetely a distinct sound she has this Beth of yours -- evocative not imitative).

Interesting.  I was looking for a good photo for "aquagoat", but the best I could come up with was "AquaCow".

this was a promotional image used by Chik'FilA when they opened up a string of stores in Japan.  they modified their catch phrase slightly ... "Eat Mor Dollfin"

i know.  terrible joke.  but the Japanese still like to kll dolphins and whales.  so they deserve a collective kick in the balls as far as i am concerned

Nope this is what passes for a good program to George Noory, Linda Moulton Howe on Strange Mating: Cows horny for Dolphins, or Flipper Loves His Beefcake!
