Sirius is kind of expensive. But no commercials means his 3hr show will have as much interview time as Dave's show.

Sirius has commercials... I don't know it that is true of all its channels. the comedy and politics channels have ads... lots of ads

Guest is infomercial for gold.

The Nooron called Coast Insiders the 'Fun Club' a few minutes ago in the ad.
That's fucked up man.
Maybe that is where the full spectrum dominance takes place?

rarlsatan

Man... Listening to Art 3 hours a night with almost no commercials is going to be glorious. I'm so happy it turned out this way. Sept. 16th can't come soon enough. Just got my subscription through Art's site.

Ya know that was exactly my complaint with Dave. not edgy enough...

not edgy must mean: illiterate, disinterested, incurious, aphasic, insensitive, and stupid.

You can't fix stupid... (true story)

I can not afford it at all but I WILL find a way to listen. Any word on if it'll have archives up for download?

I messaged Art privately on Facebook to ask if the episodes will be made available after airing and he did not reply. I did not expect him to as he either is not privy to those finer details yet or can't say or has been bombarded with PMs but according to Facebook he did see the message I sent him.

A few commercials are fine because that's when you get up to piss or go out for a cigarette or whatever.

Yeah, like I said, he's off his rocker, but he's entertaining. A lot of what he says is total nonsense, but not all of it. Can't really say that the state of our retarded financial system or things like civil liberties aren't valid things to talk about.

Art Bell Returns
on SiriusXM Radio

Read All About It Here
Launch   Monday September 16th (if no anomalies)
LIVE   Mon-Thur 7-10pm Pacific (10pm-1am Eastern)
Replayed   All Night Until 3am Pacific, 6am Eastern
Replays   Friday - Best of the Week, Weekends TBA
Channel   Indie Talk Channel 104 (8 Hours/Day)

too bad, thats a poor choice Art.
we wanted a free over the air radio broadcast, not everyone can afford the expensive Sirius/XM.
also down to only 3 hours and 4 nights a week?
in the classic 90's it was 5 hours and 5 nights a week plus Dreamland on Sunday nights.

Running at 7-10pm PT is going to hurt Ground Zero (thats its live time slot) instead of Noory's C2C that airs at 10PM PT... :o

ADG12311990

I forgot how painful it was to listen to... is Snoory still a used word? and his "c2c" I can't wait for Art's return. First the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary, and now this!

I'll admit I was wrong; I thought the "secrecy" was too airtight and the announcement would about something minor.  As for the Sirius show, that's a disappointment for me. Sirius in the house looks like a royal PITA, shackled to an indoor antenna...like radio 50 years ago!!  I've had Sirius in one of our cars for 4 years; it's cheap enough if you haggle at renewal, but I won't pay for a second subscription.

Those thinking Sirius is commercial-free are in for a nasty surprise.

No matter what is costs it will be well worth it to hear a REAL talk radio host!

I can understand you being shitty about being on pay radio but give the guy a break about the length and frequency.

No pay radio for me.
me neither, Sirus/XM radio @$15+/month is more expensive than Netflix per month!

Ipokesmot

Great news, I just wish it was on regular radio.  Sirius is known for mishandling and overcharging credit cards.  I won't subscribe, but I will be on the lookout for a pirate stream or I will set one up myself.  Sirius also has a free 30 day trial internet stream: http://www.siriusxm.com/freetrial
So every month just apply for a new one with another fake yahoo email.  ;D

So Morgus, will you continue to be the C2C official historian? Or will you be the new Dark Matter historian? Or both?

Usagi

Whether you can be arsed to pay $15 a month or not is one thing.  Skip a trip to Subway.  Enough of us were Streamlink members for embarrassing lengths of time.  Air radio would have been ideal, but there was obviously a give and take....

I think a primary question that is being asked is whether or not there will be access if you can't listen live or during replay (for those of us who like to listen at work during the day or are international).

Also, hopefully there will be a stop-gap for those who genuinely cannot afford it.  Do other Sirius shows pop up on YouTube?

ManiacMatt

I'm glad Art has a new show, but I'm disappointed that it's Sirus/XM.  I will not be paying for radio.  Damn, this is frustrating.

"Art Bell's Dark Matter."

what a stupid Bullshit name stole it right from Don Ecker and his show Dark Matters now 4 years old

tacky Art real Tacky
i knew that title sounded familiar.
Art should have used something uniquely his like "Midnight in the Desert"

Designx

I don't mind the cost of XM - just disappointed that they charge you twice for the internet and car. That needs to be rectified into a combined cheaper package.

OldTimeRadio

The guy's pushing 70.  I can forgive him the less frequent schedule.

Since you have to have a little affluence and more of a middle-class style life to afford satellite radio, I'm wondering if that will curb a lot of the interesting calls like Art used to get.

i think the server is under control.  you people facially raped it tonight.  nicely executed.

to make the forum more efficient and spare the server an aneurysm, we made a couple of temporary changes:

1) email notifications for thread replies have been disabled
2) the "recent posts" section on the forum's main page has been disabled.
3) and some other stuff.

man.

Hee hee
We knew you could handle it.  ;D

Usagi

I am sincerely hoping that there is time still for them to tweak things, like the name.  Dark Matters is attached to someone else and has no connection with Art.

I realize that the damn show isn't playing at midnight his time, but you, me, and everyone else knows that Midnight in the Desert should have been the name.

Morgus

Now that Art has finally revealed his plans for his big comeback, now perhaps we can start to discuss how long we guess until he retires again?
6 months? 1 year?
