Art Bell

Keep them separate.  Go through all of the threads under the host portion of Coast, and if there are any more about Art also include them in a sub-thread under Host entitled as suggested above "Art's Parts".  This would immortalize him.
It could be defended by the Scorpion army until hell freezes over.

And that's certainly something that's missing from ALL who have come since (Ian's Max Brooks/Zombie interview being one of the few notable exceptions).

I liked that interview also.  Even read the book when I seen it at the library.

Art Farted!

I don't know which thread to put this in. Arrrggghhhh.

Quote from: Art Bell on FacebookHas anybody else noticed that CNN which used to be a really good news outlet when Ted Turner owned it has become a one story horse, one story done to death from angles that nobody cares about while HLN CNN headline news has become the trial network with nothing but Jodi Arias from dusk to dawn. Sad

That quote was from Art?  I have to agree.  I used to love CNN in the day but now it has become all fluff and chatty, though to be honest I haven't had a regular television feed for a couple years.  I do use a news aggregator however and lately the brief captions they post have just been too strange.

Scully

You guys have lost me.  I can't tell who's on first anymore.

I like the idea of merging "Art Bell Quits Coast" with "Art Bell" as an inclusive sticky topic, if that's what you're actually considering.

He should still be involved with a show in some aspect. Like executive producer. He just picks the pieces he wants. He wouldn't have to miss any sleep and after the show got going, it wouldn't be much unlike a normal job and he would just add much needed space between the show and the corporate world.

If he helped create a show he could create whatever job title he wanted that gave him whatever duties he wanted. From what I gathered he would let those working hands on with the show do whatever they wanted but just the fact that he picked them would be good enough for me.

This has been my feeling for a long time in the event that Art was truly never coming back.

I'd like to see him mentor someone into the job.  No, they wouldn't be Art, but they would have the full benefit of his advice and maybe a little osmosis if we're lucky.  Art could enjoy the success of the new show, his own creation, without the day-to-day grind of putting in the working hours himself. He would, of course be in charge of production so that there were no brain-dead staff assisting in research and booking as there are on the current Coast.

Just my 2 cents.  8)

Him being in some sort of mentor/executor role would require two things: his wanting it, and Premiere's wanting him to do it. And somehow, I suspect, those two are mutually exclusive and preclude one another--thus, the situation we, and he, have been in for some time now.

Guys, the post on fb or whatever, was Art's break up note. It says the same thing as "Its not you, its me". Art, if we go by what he has said, is off in the sunset.

So, is CoastGab really a forum about 'nothing'?  One of the most popular threads is essentially about 'nothing':  "Random Stupid Things...".

We're basically here for three reasons:

1. Get Art to return to the air (not happening)
2. Get Noory replaced (not happening)
3. Random and stupid things

There's no problem with random and stupid things, but they are taking more prominence here as the first two reasons fade in probability.

I'M SAD, BUT NOT DESPONDENT!
I think that Art's decision to put his family ahead of a New Show portends a New Art Bell, a new "wind direction" from The Master! Frankly I like this New Art Bell, the Art of the 1980's Political Talk KDWN-AM 720 Las Vegas would not have made this kind of decision! Art is not going to be on the air anytime soon. Face it, the CoastGab Family are the top 10-15% of the brains behind Paranormal Radio. Listen to the callers of the Snoory Era Coast, and see the intellectual climate is dead, and would have to be resurrected on Late Night Radio. I've been getting hints around the edges of a new weekly Art Bell Show on Saturday Nights, more about this soon from my Pahrump Source. But let's celebrate this new Art Bell for now, and the statement he's making to other men about family priorities! Thank you Art again for making the right, but contrary to popular opinion decision again!

the forum is about whatever the community makes it about... but the only people who can shoulder blame for the slow, glacial move away from coast are the people behind coast.

Where else can we bitch about Noary, reminisce about Art.. and talk about Chris Norton and SESS!

             This forum is ultimately about...

Question:
If Art holds the rights to all of the old shows (before Prem) when the hell is he going to do anything with them? It would be nice Art, if you would offer some means of making these shows available to the public (like you're really reading this but hey, fuck it) at some time in the near future? Can't you revamp the old artbell.com page to do this?

I think most of us are now sold on the fact that we will not be hearing your voice live ever again. You won't be competing with that fuckstick Georje with an offering of old shows. Well, other than that streamlink crap, but who pays for that anyway? Noary would probably pay you to host the site just to keep our attention off of him!

Seriously Art, please do something. Many, many folks would love to have your old shows available on-demand once more. Quit fucking around and let's get it done MilleniumMan.

i'm not sure there's any evidence he does own the rights to those shows.

It'd be nice to know either way.

Edited to add: You've got the latest Phil news haven't you MV?

I haven't had time to check it out. First I hear anything I'll post it though. We may get lucky and have some podcast clips added randomly, but I personally fear we've heard the last of Phil on the radio.

Premiere at least has the right to distribute them through the C2C site. Whether they own them outright or just pay Art a royalty, I don't know. Since Art walked away with such a large chunk of change, my guess is Premiere now owns them. Still, I bet that even if Art retains some rights to them he's probably not able to do much with them commercially as this would compete with SIT on the C2C site and a lawsuit by Premiere would cripple his retirement.

Art's still not happy with the mainstream media.

Quote from: Art Bell on FacebookCNN = Kidnapping story almost all day and all night.

I did notice some restless stirrings on Facebook, and comments from unadoring fans about his retirement plans.  I look for another announcement on retirement and another thread to be started on CoastGab.
