You can see that the world is marching to that scenario (1984?) in which loyalty will eventually be ONLY to your corporation while national boundaries or loyalty or cultural differences will be no more.

You might want to check out the William Harrison short story Roller Ball Murder.  In it, he describes the sort of world you seem to have in mind (and the one in which we are, very probably, living in 2016).

Thanks.  Yep, that sounds like it.

Not sure why we keep on bringing up political topics on the Art Bell thread when we have a political section to air our grievances.

I will say this. Segundus you are right about corporatism. Too often, many who lean left here on Bellgab like to put the blame on capitalism for the current environment when the blame should properly go to corporatism.  I have never gone along with the idea that a corporation is a person.  I really think corporations should be limited in their political rights.  Let the individuals associated with the corporations have the rights but not the corporation.  They are simply businesses and should only operate as businesses.

That said, Segundus you are quick to credit or discredit Presidents based on what happened during their presidency.  Many times a President has been pushed by Congress to oppose or support certain measures and you never take that into account.  Clinton opposed balanced budget measures with vigor but Newt one-upped him and basically forced his hand to support a balanced budget.  Reagan was pushed into supporting amnesty by Congress and he did so very reluctantly on the promise that the issue would never come up again.  We see how that worked out.  I supported Reagan's decision at the time but since the Democrats went back on their promise and the problem is much worse now, I no longer support such efforts.

It's bigger, in my opinion, than the greedy politicians of the US.  I think that's short-sighted.  I think similar problems are being experienced in ALL Western, progressive, countries.  It is corporate interests overtaking the civilized world.  They are controlling more and more of every government against the interests of the people.  Look at Merkel's insanity, pledging to take in more and more refugees in spite of increased crime by them.  Norway and Sweden are shocked by the culture clash.

This is a BIG movement that seems to have been settled outside of the public domain.  Our politicians are not the top honchos who have made such decisions.

You can see that the world is marching to that scenario (1984?) in which loyalty will eventually be ONLY to your corporation while national boundaries or loyalty or cultural differences will be no more.  Nothing that I can see seems to be stopping this.  Getting a particular politician elected or moved out of office is a very small temporary throwback.
There's no question corporations have an overpowering influence on governments, at the expense of the citizens.  In the United States, I wish lobbying and corporate financial support of politicians were illegal.  Money talks.  No surprise there.  If a run-of-the-mill Federal employee was engaged in similar activities, if would be considered a conflict of interest, and rightfully so.  I don't believe corporations will demand loyalty of everybody.  They simply won't care, beyond an employee complying with their desires.  Again, nothing new there.

Corporations are a group of people with power, whether rightfully and morally maintained or not.  So are governments.  It used to be corporations would cease to exist if they couldn't produce a satisfactory product for the consumer.   Corporations and governments have now achieved an unholy, self-serving alliance, with any intent of serving ordinary people becoming lost along the way by both entities.

Well put, 21st.  It would appear the Art Bell thread is just complying with the "Nature abhors a vacuum" idiom.  I didn't realize, though, Nature was so taken with politics. ;)

To fill the vacuum, I suggest talking about subjects that relate to Art. The paranormal, emerging science, alternative history and the like.

I can see spouting off about politics whenever Art makes a political statement as well but to go on and on about it is tiresome and divisive.

Off-topic seems to be an unknown quantity for any thread on BellGab, 21st. ;)   I'm glad you didn't mention Bobo as a possible alternative.

Disturbing...scarry expereince

All
Last night as i was walking between my house and the barn creasy and machu are stabled in, i saw a man kind of crowched down. All of the sudden i heard shots and hit the ground quickly.  I did not get a good enouf look at the man, but shots were fire at me.
I am not sure if this is related to my atempt to bring back art bell to the air waves.
I am extremely scared and creasy and machu i think can sence this feer.
I am going to reluctenltly put on hold the attempt of a MEETING (even when art gets better), until i can find out who this stalker is.

I will update everyone as i find out more details

Until then, i am extremely scared for me and my family (pony and goat), whom i love in a habitual way only.

I'm still working on my theory of universal Boboness.  It's not easy tieing equine, goats, portals, and angels together. I need a much better string theory.

I should clarify my thinking.
Jobs are becoming more difficult to obtain and a prospective employee is competing with those from around the world.  Of course, this moves salaries down.  I think employees will become more and more grateful that they have a job and they will sacrifice more and more of their personal time, family, values, just to keep that job.  Ultimately, that will be the place to which we have the most loyalty.

The way I remember it, new drugs were invented which would control many of the seriously mentally ill.  People were saying that, so long as they took their drugs they'd be safe to be out and about with the public.  Prior to the drug inventions many of those released would have been locked up, considered a threat to themselves or other.  Yes, so the doors of institutions were opened, as it was deemed a cheaper alternative to locking a person away for life.  These were PUBLIC institutions and those making the financial decisions were paid bureaucrats.  Regan merely rubber stamped a cost saving measure.

Big Pharma benefitted considerably from the resulting expansion of "normalized" psych care that dribbled down into all facets of life because when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.....and walking zombies with hair triggers for destroying the lives of those around them were created.

Reagan signed off because of popular support for institutional reform and human rights.  There were lots of public reports of very bad things and abuses occuring within the institutions.  Reagan never tried to save money.  He was a president that knew how to spend it appropriately in order to have lasting impacts for the private sector (as was noted a few posts prior).

Further, balanced budgets are not optimal at the federal level.  Rather, deficit spending is in fact necessary for the growth of GDP.  Any claim by Clinton to this as a "win" for his administration is nothing but pure political spin.

Also, the "institutions " are largely still with us.  They exist as publically-subsidized non profit halfway houses and "rehab facilities".   They make the politically connected rich, and deposit weirdos into your neighborhood.  It's like section 8, but the managing directors can bill the state a shitload more money.   I feel like half of bellgab should know this because they are posting from one of these facilities.

Then why do they always escape and have to waste shitloads of police resources looking for them only to catch them mastarbating in someone's unlocked Jeep Grand Cherokee in the neighborhood the halfway house was located?

In my old neighborhood we had the police helicopter out several times.  One time the guy was found by following the trail of dead cats to the woodshed he took up residence in.

In my current neighborhood, we had one loon that was confirmed "a danger to others" in the back yard of an alone pregnant lady that was trying to get into the house.  These are nice neighborhoods, and the facilities were not close by.  (But close enough that the loons could roam free if they broke out)

College has free froyo and wifi.  If we had only nominated Bernie sanders, we could make all of the nutjobs into Students!

thanks to go-to-meeting.com, I have just finished 2 hour meeting with art & Ramona. He said, quote, no no no no no no no! I'm not coming back. Heather is getting better every day, John Titor was a big get, and she's doing fine.
So in a nutshell, it's over. No more meetings, no more imposters like booboo,  art is resting comfortably, enjoying his golden years. I tried. Please stop flooding my inbox with messages. See you on the other side.

I wonder how Art Bell's current wife, AIRYN, feels about being called by the name of his DECEASED wife, RAMONA. How do these people like ge30542 and Bobo expect us to believe they are so close to Art when they commit such fuckery.

She doesn't feel anything about it, she doesn't read BellGab.  By the way, who cares about Art Bell, he sure as hell doesn't give a hoot about anyone else.

I'm still trying to figure out how a guy like this could have so convincingly created such a different radio persona, and pulled it off for so long
