Yeah but you're in GB right? Scalia's been all over the news here, and most people have heard of him before his death also. Anyway, it wasn't like some British public figure had died, who she was unlikely to have heard of. Like Jimmy Saville for instance. Heh heh good choice huh?

I wouldn't insult shit by comparing it with Savile. Your boy couldn't be that bad could he?

He died peacefully with a pillow over his face, just as God intended for us.

No, I was just joking. He didn't molest anyone, as far as I know. He just a loon who thought corporations were people and that there should be no limits on campaign contributions, so that the rich, could in essence, buy elections and influence. Your classic oligarch, in other words. Or, as he would put it, a strict constitutionalist.

I'm still pro-Heather and Art. I'm just not a shill. When I see a problem, I'm going to say it so she can fix it and mispronouncing a major public figure's name is a no no for several reasons. Be better than Noory, that's the standard I have when listening to this show.

She's always struggled with news of the day segments to open the show and constantly mispronounces words in embarrassing fashion...

If she's being mentored by Art and talking to him every day, it's surprising they haven't gotten around to this part of her training yet

Yes.  His stance on the influence of money and power on our system government has really harmed our country greatly.  No matter which political party you belong to, you certainly don't want these influences taking away your power as a citizen.

He doesn't know what she knows and what she does not.  That was not an element in the interviews, I guess.

She said Ant-TOE-nee SCALE-ee-ah, more than once, which leads me to think she doesn't pay much attention to the news. He's been on the news non-stop here for the last few days. She should know how to pronounce it, especially if she chooses to report news.
She also pronounced the car maker Peugeot as Poo-GEE-oh.
"There's a problem with this?  After all, it is Feb."

If Art started out with the idea of eventually turning the show over to her he should have approached it differently.

He should have started with it just being him and then had her 'appear' once in a while, maybe if she had read a guest's book or was well versed in a topic.  She could make some intelligent comments and then disappear into the woodwork again.  This way she might appear to be smart and people would not object so strongly because it would not look so much that she was being foisted upon us.

That's the way he did it with Ramona, although after a bit I thought she was on the show a bit too frequently - sorry.

You mean like the time she spent reading one hour of "What to Bring On The Cruise With You"?

For better or worse, MITD with Ms. Wade is what it is.  When Art decided to leave it, especially as abruptly as he did, I doubt there were few realistic options for a replacement.  For whatever reason, Art seems to really latch onto certain people and that's that.  Witness Rowland and now Wade.  Art was one hell of a broadcaster but at other things?  You be the judge.  Me?   Let's just say I REALLY miss Ramona.  :(

Probably covered before in the thread, but who was that "Hoagland Stalker" asshat with the NYC accent that kept calling in on the Gabcast with Art? I mean, what the hell, sounded like someone with nothing else in his life but some stupid beef he likely made up in his delusional mind. Like he attended a conference years ago with Hoagland speaking and he wasn't picked during question time and he's still cheesed off after all this time.

Word is he was on the with Michael Vara (his name is Gary or something like that) and did a full rant over there.

Yep, although I don't remember that specific incident.

Lots of radio hosts have sidekicks and sometimes they start out a bit bumpy but the situation resolves after a while if their egos don't get in the way.

I thought he should have set up a rotating group of hosts from the various shows. Heather would have taken less criticism as just one of a group of fill-ins and it would not seem so permanent as with an outright replacement host. I have no idea how feasible setting that up would have been, but it would have served to avoid some of the fire directed at the show.

They might want to update that affiliate list again. KLZ in Denver dropped the show after 3 weeks.

Yes, but then she would be compared to seasoned veterans and would be found wanting, but I like the idea of rotating hosts, maybe semi-retired like Art was.

Does Rowland actually believe that no-talent Wade is the future of his network?
Does she actually believe that she's contributing?
Hell, Art is just letting her "play" radio.
Like 10 year olds get a stapler and some scraps of paper, and pencils, and believe they're playing "office".
And fucking Bell, says, straight faced," better every day".

A new report shows your favorite Parmesan cheese may contain some ingredients that you might find disconcerting.

Bloomberg News tested store-bought grated cheeses for cellulose, revealing that all of the cheeses tested contained the anti-clumping additive made of wood pulp.

Walmart's Great Value 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese registered 7.8% cellulose, while Jewel-Osco's Essential Everyday 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese clocked in at 8.8%.

Kraft had 3.8%.
Cellulose is a safe additive, Bloomberg notes, listed as an ingredient in these "100%" cheeses. However, an acceptable level is 2% to 4%.

Wow, that didn't take long.  I am comforted, though, to see "The Haystack Help Radio Show" remains on the KLZ schedule.

It's astounding that it took that long.

Well MITD is close to being done.

The question now is what is Art's next move?

It wouldn't have been so dramatic. It would be more like how Coast is set up on the weekends; yeah, we all know that Knapp is the best host, but that doesn't mean the others are terrible and have scorn heaped upon them for not being as good as Knapp. Plus the vibe of the group think would have been completely different with no single person being seen as a replacement.

Heather Wade.

Under the bus or into his guest house? Art is going to have an obsessed crazy talentless woman who was on disability in section eight housing on his hands soon that just got the biggest sucker punch of her life.

After listening to MV with Art, I concluded it was unlikely Art was coming back, at least not for five nights a week.  But we're talking Mr. Art Bell.  Who knows?  Even if he were to come back in any form, how long before the next bail-out, though, for whatever stated reason?  Mysterious and not very reassuring.

I think we can now safely say that Art, in fact, did give her a "shot".
How else could one get, and keep a job which requires: basic knowledge of current events, and the ability to speak and pronounce the English language?

This thing is playing out exactly how it was predicted here.
