Is MV lying? Is MV not lying?

I've reached a fabulous plateau where I don't know, I don't care, and it doesn't matter. It's nice here. Bring snacks on your way.

Casio?? Are you serious? Lol.

I'm sorry that Casio lives in a castle in your mind.

Trolling a soft target in Falkie has made your comebacks weak.

You're just jealous.

The only weird part about all this stalker business is when you come to the realization that Art was the stalker all along.

Jackstar

I don't accept double dog dares that are longer than 34 minutes and 9 seconds in length, sorry. Jesus.

I’m not a fan of lynch mobs or band wagons, and I’m not going to line up to praise MV or anyone else.

I think that sometimes you have to put on your “big boy pants” and grok that when bad things happens, usually everyone involved shares some of the blame.

The recent blowback actually has nothing to do with Art Bell going off the air after the recent stalker incidents at his home.  If that’s all that had happened, the vast majority of his fans would’ve expressed concern and patience through this.  The blowback he’s received is a cumulative frustration over his previous departures from hosting his shows.  And that’s unfortunate, because his decision to take a hiatus while his family feels imperiled isn’t a valid reason to burn his house down, and in fact, he deserved some measure of compassion and support after being stalked and apparently even intimidated by gun shots at his home.  I don’t think that anyone would’ve expected the intense animosity that he’s been subjected to since his latest departure under these conditions, least of all Art, so it must’ve struck him as a miserable shock delivered at an already terrible time.

MV, your position when the blowback started was very passive aggressive â€" perhaps because you felt personally disappointed by Art’s latest announcement to depart the show, I don’t know, but you chose to sit back and let slip the dogs of war.  Inaction is an action; some of the blame for what has happened since rests upon your shoulders.

A lot of really horrific stuff has been said around here lately.  Innocent people have been dragged into it.  And some of the worst types of people on the planet have basked in the vile atmosphere here.  Art shares some of the blame for that, because his fans have been remarkably loyal and supportive for a long time, and his history of retirements makes many of them feel disposable if not outright betrayed.  But MV also shares some of the blame for leaning back and watching “THE Art Bell Fan Forum” turn into a cesspool of rage directed not only at Art, but also at Heather, and even invoking his most painful and totally unrelated personal experiences involving his family.

I don’t condone Art’s roundabout and conditional threat of legal action, but I understand it.  Many of Art’s fans feel betrayed by his long history of sudden “retirements,” and I understand that.  But imagine how he must feel reading through the hundreds of pages of hateful and often way over the top attacks against him.  He saw this place as a prickly but “vaguely lovable” source of support and a certain level of camaraderie.  Image how he must’ve felt watching this namesake site turned into a shooting gallery against him, where no blow is considered too low.  With my home and career in ruins, an unknown gunman on the loose, and my last refuge for a friendly social media fix turned viciously against me, I’d probably be looking for a way to grab hold of a reign as well.

So I won’t be raising any torches, or raising any glasses, to anyone tonight.

"The Force Is Strong In This One."

Are the random capitalizations and mix ups of possessive and plural in Art's posts and many of his fb friend responses some kind of inside joke?  That would be fairly sad if it wasn't.

I don't blame Art for being hurt and/or disgusted by the venom spit here. All the newbs made this place that was once "vaguely lovable", pretty damn toxic. Now those of you that *were* loyal no longer are because he is hurt? With friends like these...

I wish I had a time machine. I bet Art does too. I'll miss this place, but not as it is now.
Not all "newbs" spewed toxic venom at Art.
Some [me] came when we were delighted to hear that ART BELL was coming back on the air after years off.
I signed up with this forum to further enhance the whole A. Bell revival experience as it were.
This was a go to site for me first thing in the morning to check about last night's show.
I had skipped the whole Sirius thing and the only Art I had was a once a week am radio with the "Somewhere in Time" shows.
They are still on by the way.
I noticed the weirdness about the Skype/sound quality obsession and mouse sightings and thought, man, he's getting flaky in his old age.
The shows for the most part were not as good as I had hoped. You know, the old "you can never go home again" thing but it was better than no Art.
As soon as I heard about the alleged cable tampering and a cancelled show, I thought, that's it, he's paving the way for an exit.
Things weren't going as he planned either business wise, or the spark was gone or both.

I'm real disappointed that he's gone. I have no prior investment in him as a lot of you Bellgabbers do here, helping him get back on air etc.
I'm almost as old as Art and it's a new media out there. People can have instantly seen opinions and they have a lot to say.
I think Art miscalculated this MITD venture coming in and going out.
In all fairness to him and his family though, just because we can be publicly rude doesn't mean we should.
So yeah, this forum was probably better before the "Newb" trolls arrived but Art kind of invited them in.

add to this the legal threats art is now dropping in my inbox.  yay.  one of the messages said, in a roundabout way, "if you refuse to ban this user and he says something 'libelous' again, i'll sue you."

having had some time to think about his message(s), i've moved from feelings of indifference to contempt.
Devastating.  And it hurts like hell. :'(

I'm not against you Art, but something very bad has ahold of you right now.  I'm, immediately sending prayers of protection and healing your way.

MV, I have your back.

I'm in shock.  Two people that I adore are at odds with each other and it's tearing me apart.  Prayers of Courage, Wisdom, and Grace I send to both people.

Let's all be reasonable here. If the same or similiar accusations made against Art and his family were made against MV and his family that person would be banned and posts removed.

If I can speak freely, MV sounded a little butt-hurt that it was Art (not Keith) that had the spec-sheet removed from the DMDN. (listen to the latest Gabcast) A little moderation has been needed this past month but I'm not surprised anything happened.

For those of you that are shocked and upset with Art....wow, unbelievable.

I have no problem with what you believe or don't believe.  I just don't want to participate in any difference of opinions right now.  The energy is too volatile and I prefer to wait till emotions calm down. :)

what was the parade for anyway? lol
Jorch was trying to recreate the drive through Dealey Plaza for The History channel.  He was demonstrating there was most likely an alien on the grassy knoll.  I don't know how he managed to bring back Zapruder from the dead to do the footage.

All I can say is that this has been the wildest, craziest, most unbelievable ride I could ever had imagined since I started posting on BG back in April 2015...

It seems the radio industry is completely unpredictable, cannibalistic and absolutely self destructive...

This has actually helped me in my own business...the inherent value of honoring your word...I always knew this basic concept, but this has just gilded that fundamental law of business in gold! Also, the notion of putting your ego aside for the overall benefit of the business endeavor...

So much to learn from this experience...

Yes, Chefist.  Sadly, so much of it is from the perspective of "how NOT to do things."

Yeah I can put myself in both their places and see why they would be pissed.

First I know MV said to George Noory that if he complained about a post he would remove it (whichever Gabcast it was) so Art requesting the same thing shouldn't be an issue.

BUT

If Art overreacted and added a threat to sue after his complaint I can see MV being ticked off. MV did a lot to help get Art's show out there and to be threatened a legal suit is hardly the right way to treat someone who helped you so much in the past.

That being said I can see Art being pissed at the over the top things being said about him, his wife, former wife and Heather. Really was some vile shit and we can say hey roll with the punches! But if it was you being attacked you might have a different opinion.

Again though we don't know the full extent of things. I still support both Art and MV.

lol he has now posted this link after a post about football

QuoteIn my own experience, conversations on Facebook are somewhat more civil, because people generally have to reveal their identities.

Not surprising to me that Art would be interested in this article. It has sentiment in there I see echoed a lot among older "celebrities" in the alternative talk industry who blindly value accountability, but fail to see the self censoring effect that posting under your own name has.

It doesn't just stop one from being rude or cussing, it'll stop people from expressing political opinions that are currently "wrong" also. Or prevent just telling the truth in front of a hostile audience that could easily stalk them and make their lives miserable.  That's why Facebook is a boring echo chamber that requires much less effort for to moderate, and thus a preferred and easily controllable environment for people in the public spotlight.

Getting trolled is a consensual act, Art. You participate by giving ammunition, responding, and not being sophisticated enough to recognize it, roll with it, or give it back.
