Hmmm.

Heather "holding the spot open" for what pray tell? >:(

This is beyond pathological. ..and I'll spare you all the details which you all know.

I'd bet that AB is willing and able to keep DMRN afloat financially for awhile.
Maybe if enough affiliates drop the program, Art will be willing to return, and just do, as Dave said, his "little internet show".
So, we must help Art if we want him back, I propose another blitz.
Phone and email affiliates across the country and ask the program directors to please drop MITD.
C'mon folks, we did it once, we can do it again.
A new blitz, " Drop MITD"

:o

Yeah, no.

indigoo

Oh so it's only temporary now?

The sad thing is there are probably dozens here who would drop everything they're doing for another "Blitz". He knows that.

indigoo

Maybe Art's bored again. That sure was quick. I'll be interested to see how this pans out.

That is what he should have done from the moment he decided to "retire" again. Then just maybe that would keep at least some of the affiliates and advertisers happy and then maybe Heather and the show/network would have had a chance.
But now that nearly all affiliates are gone, large portion of subscribers and ad revenue he would have to start nearly from scratch.
Since so much damage has been done even if he came back fulltime I am not sure he would get that many affiliates back after he burned that last bridge.

Not that I think he will be back.. I think this is just another tease just to fool current subscribers into renewing just in the hope that he comes back. I hope I am wrong, but I really doubt that...

Coast has a brand survived...not the same, but survived... How? It must be somewhat profitable..

There were never supposed be any terrestrial radio stations to begin with. It was always supposed to be a internet radio show.

Art came back. He got a taste. He was very good. I think he decided to compete with Snoorge. The original business model expanded.  'Events' caused him to back out. Time to re-group and pick up the pieces. In time all could be forgotten...and forgiven.

What does coast has to do with this?? He had like 500 affiliates and slowly got us used to a different host like George Noory.
Besides the one co host before MITD officially premiered he has not gotten listeners used to Heather at all or let her develop into a radio host of her own.
The situation is very different and even if she was talented she has no chance when there is zero involvement from Art, which is something that has already been proven with most affiliates dropping the show nearly over the night.

This is called bargaining. It's what people in terrible relationships do.

Art Bell in the 1990's. Those were special, magical times. Anyone disagree?

This new show could never top that. The end.

Art is STILL so much better than whats out there he makes this new show very, very good. Its good to have him back.

Everything. Coast had a network behind it that was motivated in keeping it going...not the same with DMDN...

So that is why he wanted us to spread the word?? He even seemed more enthusiastic on the show whenever the big affiliates came on board.
Even when he seemed to get more cranky and tired of doing the show he suddenly lit up whenever positive news came in about more affiliates.
If anything the reason he quit is because it was not growing fast enough for him.

That he wanted it to be this little internet show is just something he said in case things did not go the way he hoped.

One of the reasons he stated for quitting sirius was the small callerbase, so why the fuck would he be happy about a small internet show with just bellgabbers calling in?

But who cares? Art is ENTERTAINMENT. Thats all. Welcome him back. Enjoy the show (again  ::)  ). If he leaves again wish him well and find something else to listen to.

He is not coming back.. He just hopes that by teasing it you will have enough false hope that you keep supporting MITD with Heather.
