This going outside idea is always good in theory...but then I go outside and people are there, too. Kinda ruins it for me.

You're a teacher, right? I would think agoraphobia would be counterintuitive for someone having to get in front of a class.

george noory: I just talked to him,.,as a matter of fact he called me twice on a matter we are working on. He's retired...though I tried to bend his arm to come do a few shows with me...he didn't say no lol

"A matter we are working on" made me also raise eyebrows. Could it be a re-negotiation of a non compete clause? but why would Noory be in on it? Or perhaps Art maintains some creative control over the show still and told Noory how much he sucks ..? I just don't know. But the fact we have so much from Art being critical of the current state of affairs but on the flipside Noory speaking about ongoing conversations with Art???? My head is spinning and exploding too

Can you imagine the chatter this has unleashed?

Or maybe Noory is just dicking with everyone because he can't hold his sadistic tendencies in check any longer, and merely wants to luxuriate in the knowledge of how much pain he will have caused for those excited to hear such news only to ultimately have their futile hopes dashed yet once again. You know....like Satan.

But with Art being how Art is, I'd have to imagine Noory isn't lying.

This just popped in my head: Maybe Noory is helping Art get rid of the Somewhere in Time show. IT would be a win win for both of them/ Art is not associated anymore for good and Noory doesn't have to remind his listeners of how bad he is compared to Art!

His response is a little all over the place.  He may be full of shit.

Responded within a minute of the question being asked? Sounds like 8 hours of prep to me...

Perhaps Uncle George knew CoastGab was having a personal crisis without him saying something particularly dumb, so he threw us a bone to gnaw on?

I was struck by George's "LOL" afterwards.

He types like a high school girl.

*beep beep beep* *beep beep beep*
George Noory: "Hello"
Art Bell: "George? Art here."
George Noory: "Art Bell? Why?...wha...? Uh...Hi."
Art Bell: "Look, you remember that years ago we sorta talked about maybe collaborating on something one day?"
George Noory: "Yeah! I sure do, Art! That's fantastic! What do you have in mind?"
Art Bell: "What I have in mind is that I was crazy to have ever considered it, you cretinous, talentless hack."
*buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*

b_dubb

he didn't say yes either.  and that conversation almost certainly didn't happen

I'm waiting for Art to take action against Clear Channel for Somewhere in Time.

Juan

I'd suspect George is trying to talk Art into making a guest appearance on his "TV show."  Something like that - nothing relating to Coast.

ItsOver

Maybe Noory's imaginary dog can clear things up for us.

George is covering his bases. I know that sounds crazy considering how inept he is.

It would be smart to be pro Art, who millions more like (adore?) more than him.

His numbers are shrinking is the gist I get. He needs Art to come in and boost the ratings/save his ass.

Otherwise, he is too arrogant to not be threatened by someone who was superior to him in hosting skills, ratings, or any other measurable metric other than the amount of shoe polish on mustache.

that matter Noory refers to is probably what Art Bell has posted about in the past few months - that he wants them to stop broadcasting the Saturday night replays of classic Art Bell shows.
so Art was probably just complaining to Noory about that matter...

Art:  George, I want you to stop including me in the end of show acknowledgements

George:  Ab-shuh-lute-lee, I'll have Tommy work on updating that cue card

Art:  Thank you

George:  It should only take him about 5 months

Substitute, actually. And the schools where I fill in are more "overseer" than teacher. I'm more bouncer than teacher in some ways. Less than 10% are going beyond high school, and we know it. So it's a very different dynamic than what school SHOULD be. But it's inner city public schools, where the student to book ratio is about 3-1. It's depressing and deflating for the young idealists.
The agoraphobia is lessened by one thing...the school that fill in at most often is less than 500 feet from my house. No travel helps.

Oh, man, that is depressing. That's a failed government/education system no doubt, but it's hard to see how that is not evidence of a failed society as well.

how can kids succeed if they don't have books?  they (administration) isn't even trying

Literally, 6-8 kids to table, doing "group" work, with two books between them. Xeroxed handouts provided when it's a pressing matter. There are no individual desks in 75% of the rooms. 45-50 kids per classroom.

We're "infamous" via the busing crisis(which began the summer before my near middle aged ass was born) and have had writers from across the country here over the years, because we are a failed experiment in every sense. J Anthony Lukas "Common Ground" actually was started about our school, but he ended up changing venues, because our situation was so dire that if a mass audience readership really knew about the utter fecklessness of busing, it would have raised a national dilemma instead of a regional one.

You know the possibly apocryphal quote to Peter Arnett about "destroying the village to save it"? Well, that's what happened in the Boston Public Schools from 1974-79 and we're still trying to rebuild it. It's why I think politicians/judges kids should be mandated into attending public schools..in low income areas. Then we'll see if schools are a still a petri dish to them.

All for it. Teachers go first. We've suffered longer
