For those of you who don't read the Falkie thread, Noory made a special video greeting for BellGab...

http://youtu.be/M04ogqDYQJ8

This is exactly why I don't visit that thread. I have no idea what The Ronald McDonald house is for or who it benefits, but that's the kind of shit I imagine when I close my eyes and think about it.

I have to admit that I miss GNOORY posting...now people like Falkie have to go out and find him to bring home the entertainment!

Wow... all I felt watching that was pity. Is this what Dave does on his days off? What the hell was that? A retirement home?

I'm pretty sure it was filmed at the Art Bell family bunker/compound in Pahrump NV.
As Art always sez, "George gets it"

Beautiful in a way.

There's a period here where Art's going on about "the Rogue Market" -- anybody remember this & what it was all about?

That finally explains the submerging artists.  Wow.

Also, as somebody posted earlier- that is a very interesting mix of people...

So I guess in today's market it's more luck than talent that gets you the big gigs!  :)

Oh yeah... Art has a gift. He's one a in million, no its more like one in a hundred million.
For your consideration: What a waste of this God Given talent, Art could of been the next Hitler  ;)

Quote from: Danger!UFO on May 03, 2015, 04:47:34 AM
Hitler was a terrible, evil man responsible for the deaths of millions of people. WTF is wrong with you??

Mr. Danger UFO, I believe the crux of the problem is making a joke that compared Art, who is famous to someone that is vastly more famous, but is responsible for a lot of deaths.

If the person is famous and is respected, it compounds the issue because some may admire this famous person and will take offence no matter how many years have passed since the person's death.

Take for example Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy even though their tragic deaths happen respectively over 150 and 50 years ago, a death joke like this could still be considered offensive to some:

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
And here's the kicker...
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was in Marilyn Monroe.

Again Mr. Danger UFO, no matter the time that has passed the above joke about Kennedy and Lincoln's death would be offensive to some.
Another factor that makes a joke work is the communal understanding of the subject matter by the intended audience.
We all know who Kennedy and Lincoln are.
So in order to make a joke 'work' about a famous respected dead person, it's best to stay away from using death as the subject for a joke but rather capitalize on a less offensive attribute of the person's life.

For example here's an excellent Lincoln joke that shouldn't offend anyone:

What did Abe Lincoln say after a 3 day drunk?
"I set WHO free?"

Most celebrities grow accustomed to the shows like TMZ. The paparazzi mercilessly pursues them, and then invades their space.

Pretty sad that people have to get used to others invading their privacy.

Yeah, I'll imagine Art will say whether he is ok with someone doing that or not but as big of a fan as I am I would feel odd going to see his house. I don't heroe worship the guy. I'm more interested in how he has his compound set up and how much it cost to set up a place like that than I am in the fact that he lives there.

There is something oddly appealing to having your own compound and being so self sustaining.

I see your paltry "ten more dollars" and raise you a bit'o'honey?

Nutty, sweet... what's that worth in your beloved Corps?
Hmmm.  It'll take more than a bit o'honey and  your purty lips.  That's for sure, young stuff.

Wonder where all the people came from voting no on the survey? It's almost like a campaign . Wonder what a graph of sign up date versus vote would look like. So many questions ..:

The poll is open to both guests and members alike, so it's hardly representative of anything legitimate. I'm sure there are people gaming the numbers.
