I must protest. I have been silent until now to let you do your thing.
TuneIn never has worked on any computer I had/have using Windoz XP 7 with IE or my standard, a Mozilla based browser.
I hope this is not the only method of receiving MITD. I don't have a smart phone and don't want one. Too costly for the returns.
A simple m3u works just fine in Winamp. Thanks but no thanks for http://50.7.71.219:7300/stream nothing but rap crap as I gave it all the15 seconds it deserved and was unable to discern any "quality" of audio given the program material. I'd rather listen to square waves through a torn speaker.

Works fine on Mac using Safari browser.

We didn't find any playable streams

But don't judge by me! I have old computer and just clinked the link. Though the Morgus link to DMRN worked like a charm on same system and so does Gabcast.
I can't wait for new show!!
I get the same error using the latest version of Firefox browser on my fairly new 6core desktop PC.
But TuneIn says on their website help info that the TuneIn webpage player does not support AAC, hence the error.
My smartphone can play AAC streams thru the TuneIn android app however, also on my desktop PC using an external media player that supports AAC such as Winamp or VLC.

As far as I know, TuneIn was just an example of software that can be used to stream the show.  Winamp or any media players really are capable of making use of stream links.  If art wanted to he could make any membership exclusive stuff all go through his website in some way.  They could potentially just put up a pay wall for access to shows older than 30 days.

Doesn't play on my desktop PC with the latest version of Firefox browser.
Plays thru the TuneIn app on my android smartphone and shows as 64K AAC there.

Works on the ol' Macbook using Chrome and Safari.

I've only listened for 10 mins and I'm already rolling up with my crew slinging BIG DICKS and AKs.
The quality is really good though. Before this week I didn't know this level of quality was possible at 64Kbps.

AAC is great for an all music station, but I think its overkill for a talk show with maybe a couple minutes of bumper music each hour.
MP3 avoids the incompatability issues completely and variable bitrate encoding can do very nicely.

Needle woman

Worked just fine on my ipad2 via tunein.

Seems that the Tunein app won't be an issue. The big problem will be making sure everyone buys a Mac with the latest version of Chrome installed.

Windows 7 and Chrome on my PC. Works fine.

A note to people who are using older Android phones...

The Tunein App wouldn't install on my phone. It gave me a message something like, "No compatible devices found." On a hunch I went searching for "Tunein App for older Android phones" Found a site that had several. Downloaded the oldest one. It works fine. I listened to DMRN for a while.

Why is it that the link works fine for some people and not for others using the same set up? Windows 7 and Chrome (latest version) did not work on my PC.

Therez no single simple answer to that question.
It could be as simple as a plug-in causing problems, or the browser doesn't have a file association for the .MP4a file type, or your computer doesn't have the codec to decode AAC+, .DLL not playing nice... It only goes down hill from there.  Maybe the computer gods are just having fun jerking us around.

Meanwhile... I've missed the chu natsu party, sigh.

What version android does that phone use? Can you update the android version to support newer apps?

Excellent work-around, installing an older version of TuneIn.

BTW, where did you get the older copy of TuneIn?  I have an old Android that I keep in my glove box, for backup, WiFi only, that I may need an even older version of TuneIn to make work.

I totally agree.  Life has gotten way too complicated.  The human race has devolved into a horde of cluster fookers.  Don't they know there's more fun with simplicity? Take women for example. A simple one is far more fun than a complicated one.

You also have the issues, for audiophiles, about the compression rate, the usual digital versus analog sound pitch stuff, etc. Who knows? Personally, I'm all for it but still like the old SW and SSB and CB(!) and AMFM and don't mind having to "tune in" for things. Actually it makes a show like the old Art Bell C2C and DL (and the new show) sound even creepier! But I agree go with the future and there are/will-be apps for listening to that stuff.
My worry is what happens when content providers sacrifice fidelity to cram in more channels.

With talk, quality means being reasonably intelligible. With music, you want to hear the nuances.

BTW, the AAC works for me. It's impressive that the technology has progressed to this. Still, I think mp3 is the way to go. If you want the best shot at making a BIG opening, you want to use the most ubiquitous tech.

I do like the idea of an experimental high-quality AAC co-stream. If the devices catch up, you can always switch over once you're sure everyone can do it.
