I am really going to miss not hearing Graham Hancock.

Plus, I never got a chance to call-in and confront Ed Dames about him being a fraud.  I was kind of really looking forward to that.
Does anyone know if C2C paid guests?  Probably Art's budget did not allow for it.  I know that most of them had books etc to sell.  Poor Evelyn (the witch) Paglini wrote on her Facebook page that she was scheduled for Nov. 21st, and also was advertising her products in the same entry.  One supposes that Art must have had guests lined up for this month, whoever they are...

By the way Art, regardless of where you live I'd recommend not changing all your money into Philippine Pesos.  They are pegged to the US Dollar and if unpegged would become another worthless third world currency.  The Peso is a 'soft' currency, not always as easily converted back into 'hard' currencies.  We are their largest trading partner, if the US Dollar tanks, the PHP will tank right along with it.

Regardless of where you live, you might consider being diversified and not have it all in US Dollars anyway.  I'd suggest looking into some mix of US, Australian, Canadian, and Swiss currency (deposits or shorter term bonds).  You can hold these currencies with your broker and convert whatever you need back into US Dollars - it doesn't matter where a person lives to do so.

I get paid in RMB so every paycheck (in USD) is larger and larger  :)

Spinner

Oh, man that "Art Bell Quits" thread is a zoo. Overrun with trolls and people using up space supposedly arguing with each other - just burying any other legitimate posts, even Art's posts.

Anyway, for anyone interested in contacting Sirius to ask them to get Art back, here are some numbers and email addresses.:

Kenny Curtis  (Senior Director, Entertainment Programming)
Kenny.Curtis@siriusxm.com

You can also email:  customercare@siriusxm.com
And if you would like to call:
Listener Care:  1-866-528-7474  or 1-866-635-2349

The current top executives:

James E. Meyer  (Chief Executive Officer)
(if anyone has an email address for Mr. Meyer, please post)

Scott Greenstein  (President and Chief Content Officer)
email:  Scott.Greenstein@siriusxm.com

If anyone knows other relevant contact emails, please post them here. We need to reach the people who would actually have any say on the matter.

Yeah, the Art Bell Quits thread is a flustercuck. I can't keep up with it, thus shall give up on it, and post my thoughts here.

No matter what the reasons for his departure, it's nice that he's secure enough in his life to be able to leave less-than-ideal circumstances. There are too many people in this world that do not have that freedom.

Without getting off on a long story (like other posters I've stopped reading), I'm glad I didn't get a subscription and satellite radio like I was working towards after the free trial expired (no technical problems here, just money issues). I feel terrible for those that did go 'all-in' with Art, though, only to get rivered.

Doesn't matter who you want to blame: Art, Sirius, Noory, David Bowie, Martian rats, whoever. The ones that have truly lost are those that made a financial and emotional investment for something that might give them a bit of joy in this screwed up thing we call life. And that it should just be ended instead of worked through stands as a testament to what we've become as a society.

I just think after the initial thrill of being back on the air wore off, Art was looking for a way out, back to retirement.  I've known people like Art.  After the raccoon gets tired of playing with the new, shiny thing, it just walks away.

None of us really know, but assuming there is more to the story than what he told us, I agree this is the likely reason.

I think he liked the idea of coming back, showing he was still as good as ever, having his old cronies like Hoagland back on the air, talking to the callers, sticking it to George Noory.

But it may well be he found out he also liked being retired.  Can't do both.

I had a feeling 3 hours a night, 4 nights a week might end up being more of a commitment than he wanted.  Then he upped it to 4 hours.  Had a real bad feeling when he started talking about going back to the Philippines, changing his money over and all that.

He should have done a weekend show, maybe Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun, or at least started out that way.

I agree that the most likely reason for all this drama is simply Art's discontent with getting back into the old work grind.  With enough money to do whatever suits him and a young family to enjoy, why not rest his cranky back and enjoy bitching about CNN's fatuous portrayal of the news?  If he had been bored, he could have found other things to work at without violating his non-compete contract.

Ah well, I can truly say I did see the handwriting on the wall.  I was just hoping I was imagining it. But sure enough, that raccoon did walk away.  :'(

Nighthawk

Art has been posting some answers this night / morning over on the big mess quits thread. Just in case you are still looking for answers.

Can start the week over again?

I know LMH gets paid, or at least used to.  I don't even know if she is on C2C any longer.  I haven't had the stomach to listen for years now.

RCH is in the same boat, I believe, but I don't know why.

rangerdavid

I listened to an old dreamland show last night.  I'm done with the same re-runs on SXM.  Art was different back then.  I thought that even before he quit.  anyway, glad we have the archives thread.  I'll be downloading a bunch.  C2C lineup doesn't look bad this week, but I just can't bring myself to tune in that crap.

Linda Howe still appears once a month on c2c, she was just on a couple weeks ago...

I like how the likened the timeouts on the app and webplayer to putting in the numbers on LOST.

Sirius are the only company that just assume you aren't listening to their product. Gold.

Tomorrow night's show is listed as "TBA" at artbell.com

Hmmm Interesting. That has to be on purpose because it was listed as REPLAY an hour ago.

BTW I have better cell reception and battery life than you. :P

bateman

Great O&A segment too. Hahahaha, Sam Roberts on George replacing Art: "They just put another idiot in there."

jazmunda

Is TBA related to RCH or LMH?

You know who needs to listen to this? Art.

I sent it to him via email but I'm sure he has received it from many people on here already.

Let's call that a tie.

Or should we go to a tie break and compare land line or fax machine clarity?

I expect we'll be hearing from Art soon.
;D

"We are sorry that Dark Matter on SiriusXM has come to an abrupt end. We'll examine our options and may be able to return in a different format and medium.

We have already identified many ways to bring a LIVE stream to you, it's now just a contractual issue. Stay tuned..."

So who else thinks Art orchestrated this whole thing so he could have a few days to play Call Of Duty: Ghosts. I bet he's fragging people on Xbox live right now.
