So happy to be listening!

Quick Karl

Really great the hear 'that voice" again!

And, Kaku really is great at explaining quantum theory - as much as it can be explained...

CRM 114

When he started pimpin new C CRANE crap I about lost my mind with joy. SO AWESOME.

kingotnw

This is so much better than C2C with Dave that its not even comparable.

steve0suprem0

Ol' bugger's still got it. Like he never left.

Quick Karl

No one can do talk, like Art.

ACE of CLUBS

Nice to have you back Art.

Quick Karl

Maybe it's just me but, the bumper music even sounds better than, well, you know...

Oh god, it sure is.

I have a feeling Art is going 4 hours every night.  I'm guessing he agreed to end at 10 so as not to step on George's show, but thought about it and based on recent events said screw that.  And he always has the option to end it after 3 hours when he wants.

steve0suprem0

I dunno, I think he'll stay just because he truly loves it.  I wish I could get paid to do what I love. But  who's got a position open for a daytime motorcycle/nighttime whiskey reviewer?

It's morning in America again!  The winter of our discontent has ended.  All is right with the world once again.  Thank you all for helping me to survive our ordeal.  Thank you Art for returning to the air.

I feel so refreshed. Great show, no bumbling and intelligent calls. I nearly forgot what good radio sounded like.

Good article on Time on Art!

Spinner

Art's show was simply awesome!
He sounded great, and as sharp and entertaining as always. It was so good to hear an intelligent conversation again.
And best of all, there will be many more nights like this.
Life is good. :)

Thank you, Art!  You rock!

I FEEL LIKE I'M FLOATING!!! What an awesome 1st show back.

Just so everyone knows. Its actually changed on his website now. It used to say 9-12 m-th, but now it says 9-1..its going to be four hours a night! I can't imagine anyone would be able to stomach coast after listening to that. That show destroyed coast in every possible way. I really wonder how this is going to impact coast. I love art, but that was the top of his game. If he keeps this up, I think its going to be very damaging to coast. Much more so than i thought it would be in the first place.

By the way, Premier abandoning him like that was repulsive.

So true - light years ahead of anything from C2C in recent years ... and frankly he was even better than his latter years on coast.

BTW - listening to the replay ... and anyone notice the cool sound-effect coming out of breaks? ... kinda like a few tympani drums with a flange effect? Pretty damn cool....

I love me some Art Bell.  He sounds like he hasn't aged a day.  There IS a God!  ;D

Nucky Nolan

F. Scott Fitzgerald had it wrong. There *are* second acts in American lives. I missed his first act, but it was great to hear/read how happy Art Bell and his old fans were. He's back in the saddle again. In his case, he's like Arcaro and Shoemaker in their primes. And the callers! We heard real people, not screened plants, engaged in real conversations. This is how it's done.

I just went to YouTube to see if an audio clip of tonight's show had surfaced there yet.  It seems not.  I'm very curious to see if Sirius is going to allow those to stay up, coz I feel sure some people recorded the show tonight and will be putting a clip up on YouTube.  They'd better be sure they edit all the bumper music out:  that gets those audio clips pulled down faster than anything else, it seems.

What a great feeling to hear Art again.
He sounds better than ever.
The good guy goes win sometimes.

I'd suspect just like Howard Stern's shows on Sirius, they won't make it on youtube, but may appear on mp3 files as torrents the next day with the ad breaks editted out.
But somebody has to record each night's show, edit them and then setup a torrent daily.

If I was SiriusXM, I think I'd let the first couple weeks of shows float around; and only then crank down with the DMCA's. You know, like a drug dealer. First taste is free.

steve0suprem0

Makes a lot of sense.

Source: I've met a drug dealer or two in my day.

Last nights show is already up on the On Demand section of the app.

On the App it says that it expires in 30+ Days.

On the Online Player it says that it expires in 9998 Days. You better hurry to listen to it. You only have 27 years to listen.

Which is probably the reason they went out and found a toady like Noory, who didn't give a damn about the legacy of the show or the host.

Six months from now, Premiere will unload Snoory and instead of buying turkey sandwiches and pizza rolls at 7-11, he'll be cashiering in a 7-11, probably either in a depressed area of Detroit or in Beirut.

Snoory is toast and George Noory will still suck, even once he's gone.

Yes indeed it is! I found it with a search for "Art Bell" under the "Shows & On-Demand" section.
So the on-demand show appears in under 3 hours after the end of the live broadcast.
I see its edited to remove the ad breaks too, duration shows as 3 hrs 29mins (out of the live 4 hours)
All the bumper music is still included, unlike on c2cam downloadable podcasts.

That works out to about 52+min show+music per hour, compared to only ~38min per hour on c2cam.
The sirius PC player jump forward/reverse buttons appear to go to each ~22min segment (where the ad breaks were)

So it would be best to record from the on-demand archive rather than live since the ad breaks are already removed.

Once there was a radio King ( no not that one ... ),
But the evil network wouldn't help him do this thing.

So the King took the airwaves that would sing,
And let a knave named Dave flaunt all his bling.
And try to take the crown from that passed on singing King,
With his ridiculous delusion that he could ever sing.

Instead of midnight in the desert, and the King's High Desert feline herd,
We got a fool who could barely blurt a word,
And of the beloved King, no more was ' ere heard.

Time went by, and a star rose in the sky,
The King looked up & it caught his eye.
Instead of the knave in a cave and his flabby lackey,
The King knew he'd soon send them packing.

Now the people rose up into a angry mob,
They knew the Dave knave wasn't up to the job.
But their hearts were filled with woe,
For without their king, their radio dials had no where to go.

But a Monday's child is fair of face,
And one of his subjects heard a sound from space,
That spoke of midnight and taking a ride.
And he spread the word both far and wide.

A video man the name of Ross,
HE knew the King was the Boss,
And for words and pictures twas ne'er a loss.
So he posted videos for the cause.

Some say the Dog Star is so very far,
But reaching Sirius was no bar.
The people tuned to channel 104,
It was as if the King was out knocking at their door,
Just as before.

The evil knave knew he'd have no where to hide.

Once the King called out :

" Wanna take a ride ? "

The millions of subjects mobbed the stores,
As they bought radios and abandoned the Snoore.

To the evil knave Noory they all said :

" Nevermore. "

As they threw their AM radios out the door.

Twas Monday night at the stroke of 10,
The King addressed his subjects once again.
There were smiles and tears as their heads would bend.
As the King chose his secrets to reveal.

Meanwhile deep within the cave,
A shudder was felt by the scurvy knave,
His minion soon left him and was seen to flee,
As the knave dreamt of his imagined studio by the sea.

The fair damsel came out of the night,
There was no talk of angels working in the light.
Instead she spoke of searching for the truth,
That she's sought all her life.

Now as we all approach the dawn,
The great man of science had to move along,
But out in the desert by the place called fifty one,
The King still stood tall, and his subjects knew that he's the ONLY ONE !

A new day dawned and for the knave, twas nowhere to run or hide,
As the King stood and was heard from his Kingdom of Nye both far and wide :

" Hey, everyone, wasn't that a wild ride ! "

Thanks Art and all those who had a hand in bringing THE KING back to the air.

I can't wait for the next ride, can you ?
