Noory's ugly mug appeared again on tonight's new episode of Ancient Aliens.
This time he presumed to be an expert on bigfoot...  8)
I didn't see it, but let me guess:
He pontificated "there's sumpthin goinGowun out there!"
See, 'cause that's all-purpose!  It could mean "out in space," "out in the woods," whatever!
He's brilliant!

I have to agree with the general consensus... Knapp is infinitely better than listening to nitwit. At the very least, he's engaged, doesn't talk out his ass perpetually, and is capable of cogent thought. He also has the balls to go open lines for extended periods, replete with a cavalcade of bizarre callers.

Quote from: Sardondi on March 23, 2012, 11:43:52 AM
Exactly the way I feel. It simply flabbergasts me that any human of relatively normal intelligence can be so satisfied with his own blatant ignorance and incompetence. And to have that dullness and general fecklessness exhibited day after day after day, and yet never display the least embarrassment, never to be moved to improve oneself - it is beyond my understanding.

View Noory's behavior through this statement/lens: Malignant narcissism does not require a minimum I.Q.

Normally, I hate open lines.  Knapp makes it much more tolerable and entertaining. If only Knapp could do it every Friday...

Look at the last minute main guest added for tonight's c2c, a wizard...
I remember this was one of Ian's past guests.  :P

Oberon Zell is a modern Renaissance man.
He is a transpersonal psychologist, metaphysician, naturalist, theologian, shaman, author, artist, sculptor, lecturer, teacher, and ordained Priest of the Earth-Mother, Gaia.

And don't miss the interview with this freak and his lovely bride on 'Living the Wiccan Life':

Mother Nature: Yes, George! You are an idiot!

Hello fellow Coast Gabbers.  I'd like to get something off my mind.  When I joined this forum last year, I thought George Noory was a good host.  But, as I followed your posts, I started listening to what he was saying, trying to figure out if I was missing the point. It's gradually dawned on me that you guys are right.  I've caught him asking questions that don't relate to the topic. Not to mention his recent singing and his 'sound effects' - such silliness.  His interview with Katherine Albrecht at the end of January was a turning point for me.  The poor lady is fighting breast cancer - IMO, Noory was confrontational with her and constantly interrupted.
So, I've changed my opinion about his hosting skills.  I'll still listen to C2C whenever the topic interests me and focus on the messages of interesting guests.
IMO, people like the show and the topics, and either they don't listen closely enough to notice the flaws, or they put up with them for the sake of the show.  At least that's the way it was with me.

Sardondi

What a contrast - I'm currently listening to tonight's Somewhere in Time (one of about a dozen or more shows with EVP-ers Brendan Cook & Barbara McBeath) and I'm awash in nostalgia and a sense of great loss. Mostly I'm amazed that Premiere allows Art's shows to be played while George is employed by them, because the difference is so stark and apparent that it's embarrassing. The difference in Art and George is just light years apart. He's so poor by comparison that I don't see how George can even stand himself.

Oh well, I've got another 1-½ hour to go before C2C is over for another entire week.

I agree. I've never understood why people assume that just because we're united in our disgust at George Noory that we also share their political views. Awhile back I asked that we dial back the socio-cultural and political invective (the standard believers-are-sooo-stupid, conservatives-are-sooo-craven stuff), and ask that we stick to Simple George. But there are a handful of folks who feel it their duty, their Gaia-given right, to jab a stick in the eyes of folks that they don't just disagree with, but clearly feel morally and intellectually superior to. It's unfair; it's not right; and it makes for hard feelings. And it almost always goes just one way.

So, once again, how's about we dispense with the gratuitous political and religious insults at least in this thread?

I like to think he takes a little pinch of glitter from that pouch and blows it above people's heads.

A good idea, Sardondi.  Inasmuch as you were agreeing with MV's response to something I wrote above, it might have gotten lost that my "Tea Party" line was itself a reaction to what I thought was an out-of-place, "gratuitous," and entirely provocative political injection, from Ruteger in post #12634 above.   Is that post "gratuitous" too?   Please note the last line of my post, #12635.   Is that sentiment familiar?

It's funny though how only my attempt at a response seemed to get under some skins.   Of course I was "speaking for myself," MV.   The logical inference from your reaction is that Ruteger's post was speaking for you.  That's fine.   But surely you don't mean to suggest that everyone should accede to the gratuitous politics of his post as Received Orthodoxy.   Right?   So I didn't, and I simply made that known just like you did toward me.   I'll bet you'd agree that that's fair.

Sardondi, help me out here: when you say "it almost always goes just one way," which half of the little 2-party exchange I just cited is the "one way" you find dominating the discourse around here?   The "way" reflected in the original provocative post, or the "way" reflected in the response?
A person might get the crazy idea that ideological expressions in here only become objectionable and "gratuitous" if a particular side fires back.   But surely it's not that.

Believe me, I'm totally happy to keep politics out of this thread.   Now you men get everyone to cooperate.   Because I'm firmly of the opinion that gratuitous provocation --a stick jab to the eye, Sardondi-- always deserves a little comeback.

I also agree.   The media is saturated with left/right political invective.  When I come to the Coastgab site, especially the Noory Sucks thread, I want a laugh or two, a vacation from liberal/conservative, or anti-Christian posts. (I haven't gone to church in years).   I have strong political views, but no interest in reading about politics on Coastgab.

WOTR - excellent cartoon. Thanks for sharing that

I feel like you have a point but Ben's remarks were pushback aimed at Rutegers remarks about the POTUS which seemed to just fall out of the sky. If that was a response to an earlier post I couldn't tell you which one. I would no sooner apologize for CIVIL pushback/discussion than I would try to censor someone's opposing views. I genuinely like to hear someone explain their position. I do believe that this sort of discussion should generally be limited to the POLITICS thread as it tends to derail the thread discussion

Now ... back to the suck

the only time I want to see George Noory is if he's kneeling down in front of an alqaida banner in a beheading video.

Totally agree, Ben Shockley.  I hate the politics that keeps popping up in here, but when one "view" rears its head, it deserves a  response.  What Sardondi missed was the point.

Even Ruteger's avatar in and of itself is clearly political, and it irritates me every time I see it.

Let the suck be your light.  If we follow the light, we cannot fail.

I've heard George talk about sites like this and he said, somewhat smugly, that all boards such as these eventually disintegrate  due to internal bickering. He said something to the effect of "that's what always eventually happens."

He has a point. Conflicts are bound to happen.  Different intellects clashing.  Various politics.  This race sucks.  That races sucks.  That view sucks, no your view sucks.

The key is to remember George sucks most of all and should be a fucking weatherman in Florida or L.A. or wherever the least amount of weather change occurs, so he can blandly report the same forecast every g**damned day in the same freakish NASCAR announcer tone he delivers the desecrated carcass once known as Coast to Coast AM.

The fact he is STILL on the AIR offends me more than I can say.

Ben Shockley

To b_dubb and Scully:  thanks, and I bow and sing praises in your respective directions.

Only a little.  Okay, maybe beheading is a bit much.  But ceremonial humiliation is a good idea; maybe in combination with a public apology and acknowledgment of wrongdoing.  Some combination of the South African reconciliation committees and Communist-Chinese-style renunciation of "wrong ideology"  (and I had not a trace of sarcasm or irony in mind when I wrote that).
Noory needs to tearfully and loudly renounce his ignorant ways, and perhaps beat his head on the ground and wail and gnash his teeth and wear sackcloth and ashes.   Maybe a specified period of time performing public service in a public place while wearing a sandwich board labeling his crimes.   Maybe some time in the stock, so that frustrated listeners can mock and jeer and pelt him with spoiled food products.
Specifically, while in the stock, he would have to wear the improvised "island girl drag" that the Navy guys in "South Pacific" wore during their musical play; grass skirt, coconut-shell bra, garish red lipstick, etc.

This could be- but this forum seems to be immune to any permanent effects of such bickering.  As B_dubb observed, these topics generally belong in the politics forum.  Sometimes they spill over, but when you have such an endless supply of suck and an entire forum dedicated to reporting that suck, it will eventually return to the purpose for which it was originally set up.

The first post in this topic came in 2008.  Almost half a million views later we are all still generally on topic.  Much like a black hole, the suck that Noory displays will eventually consume everything (including political discussion.)

Don't pull back too much.  I recently voiced the opinion that his death by any means would benefit society in general.  I had posted this during his big push to tell people to stop cancer treatment, stop medication for psychological issues and stop listening to any main stream medical advice.  I had not specifically mentioned beheading; just death or disability in general (perhaps because while I had no problem wishing his death or severe disability, I don't really wish major violence on him.)

In short, take it down a notch, but don't ground it and become indifferent...

Yes, I vividly recall replying to MV in 2008 as the 9th response in this thread.

(need to write something "funny", I thought to myself)

Amazing how time has inexorably hauled SUCH ass.

Oh, great.  I found the forum a few years ago and finally registered a few months ago.  I read a ton of pages, and, being somewhat visual, had not noticed the avatar back then (please, please tell me that you have changed it so that I don't feel quite so stupid.  Seriously, lie to me if necessary...)

I suppose that I am impressed that a forum composed of people whose only unifying characteristic is a hatred of a late night radio host has been able to work things out and get along (for the most part) through several years with minimal moderation.  I thought that I would mention it and I find that I am telling a founding member about the history that you experienced first hand.

Hot damn; every now and then I feel humbled, embarrassed and stupid.  Can I give you any more unsolicited lessons on the history of this forum? ;)

You have that right!

The suck thread seems in many ways to be the default thread of the forum and I think that may be why it sometimes goes into other topics.  A lot of sites have a "War Room" where OT or more controversial things can be discussed.  I hope this happens -- as opposed to all political discussion being banned.  I hate those forums where everyone must always be nice to everyone else and the slightest thing that might possibly offend any entity in any universe is prohibited.  (These forums are usually all female and they also suck.)

BobGrau

I love how this thread gets all self-analytical and soul-searching whenever noory takes a few days off.
