Given your posts in general, I think you tend to be overly impressed with statistics you read (and tend to believe them without question).  Miss Swift is more of same - sure, she has talent but do you truly want to listen to that?

As opposed to you who doesn't believe any statistic that questions his beliefs (although it's becoming increasingly questionable if you even have any beliefs)- and that is not skepticism but is merely mindless opposition, but falls for EVERYTHING, no matter how nonsensical that backs up his prejudices.

As to Taylor Swift, she is one of very few current popular artists that I listen to on a regular basis.

coast to coast is like the women in my town. they are ugly and terrrible but they are all I've go so I don't complain to much, and Art is like a hottie that just keeps teasing me.

It helps to get your coast goggles on before the show, that's what I do.

No, I was just stating the whole facts, not trying to make any point.  If I were to make any point though, given that rock radio has always had a lot less stations than top 100 radio and given that I don't know if Rush has even had a song played on top 100 radio since 1985, it's understandable that no American other than Rush fans would be aware that they are no longer Ayn Rand devotees.

In regards to 'just two data points' I'd assume that if any Rush song (not album) had been on any other Billboard U.S chart, it would have been posted there.  There is (or, at least, used to be) both a 'modern rock' chart and a 'rock' chart, but other than they presumably reflect air play on different types of radio stations, I have no idea what the criteria for either chart is.

Modern Rock is (or was)the term used for rock music more influenced by the punk and new wave movements, as opposed to rock's more conventional roots. It's basically what has been college rock/alternative/indie music over the years.

Billboard changed the "Modern Rock" chart's name to "Alternative Rock" at some point in the past, though I can't remember when.

Cathy Fitz was on again - if this continues Linda is going to be jealous.

Marcy Playground - Sex And Candy

That's what Dave wants. Too bad LMH is probably cheating on him with Art and Knapp. Probably Bateman as well.

We need a Geddy Lee and Rush sucks thread on the politics board.

Oh thanks.  Bob Dylan had several songs on the Rock Chart following his last song in the Top 100 in 1983.  "Things Have Changed" made #31 in the U.K Top 100 in 1997, but did not chart in the United States.

I still hold that had "Most of the Time" been the first single off of "Oh Mercy" in 1988 it would have made the Top 100.  "Series of Dreams" from The first Rare and Unreleased" CD in 1993 was projected as 'picked to click' but it ultimately didn't click.

I missed the first hour of the show, did George say that the guest is the reincarnation of J.C?  Do we really need more than one J.C? I don't think J.C is even dead.

As opposed to you who doesn't believe any statistic that questions his beliefs...

When it comes to polls and statistics, I'm more interested in who took the poll, what specific questions they asked, how they were worded, in what order were they asked, what was the makeup of the demographic, things along those lines.  For statistics, I want to know who compiled them, what was included, what was left out, what data was collected, whether anything changed as far as how the data was collected, things like that.

It's important to know how the stat or poll figures compare to previous polls and stats done by the same people, i.e, the trend.  How this poll or stat compares to other data put out by the same people or by different people

A poll or a stat doesn't mean a thing if it's just a number on a page.

I'm not sure if this is your point, but I agree with you that not everything should be political.  For example, I was reading an old ABC News Story today that Scott Baio endorsed Scott Walker and the liberals on the board were mostly all saying "This guy is no longer a celebrity."  Do you really need to bash Scott Baio?

I don't agree with his politics, but I'm aware he is still at least a bit of a celebrity as he had a fair size role on Arrested Development, and, he was very funny on the show.

Of course, I was sadly one of a handful of people who watched that show.

Except you don't actually use any of those metrics to question any of the stats I cite.  You just say stuff like "It's from Obama's BLS, so it's not true."

I'm not sure how 'official' this is, but my sense is the progression goes:  Pop - Indie - Alt - Rock.

This administration has lied about so much that none of it is believable anymore.

Compared to the Dumbya/BiG Dick administration, the Obama administration are truth tellers.

May I suggest we bring the discussion back from politics to more important things like the guest's knowledge of underground alien bases?

It's just that there are individuals who are valuable, rational, insightful additions to GNS and I don't like to get them mixed up with their political personas.

I think we long ago established that talking about the show is more enjoyable than the show.

If you wish to discuss such things, there is a specific area of this board dedicated to such controversial topics where you are free to start a thread.  This area is reserved for political discussion.

'Allo,Bull_Gabbers!!
Still with you in this den of inequity.
Been cogitateing about why i'm feeling actually some and then empathy for mr.noory.
i have decided that, the flaws you all excoriate in this particular forum thread are an product of some kind of long-term genetic disorder that is not discussed on the air for obvious reasons by mr.n.
i think that mr.n.actually has been deceased and then re-animated.
i wonder now,if he's an substituted puppet/cyber-noory simalicra that is being operated via cables from an krewe in another room of the complex like those audio-animatrons of disney's frontier-land,ie,'young mr.lincoln'.
Thus, the long pauses, filler vocal sounds,mis-pronounciations,and general sloppy voice and thought mannerisms.
Und zo,i've relegated the noory-calypse to an back burner for a few months whilst i look for the beings that are literally pulling his strings.
Perhaps,the stories of mr.h.p.lovecraft,for example,are relevant here.
Additionally,i'd like to state for the record that,in reference to mr.noory not playing any'black'music,is that meaning by non-caucasian races performers,or as in 'black'=negative or anti-normative in the sense of,say,'black mass' or equivalent dark type music???
"B_B"

No you have it all wrong. Jorch was crossing the abyss, attempting to become an ipsissimus, and became entangled in a battle of wills with the demon Chronzon, but he tried using Kenneth Grant's typhonian current to battle Choronzon, not realizing that Kenneth Grant's works are the daydreaming nonsensical tripe of a fantasy-prone schoolboy, and Chronzon cast Jorch out of the abyss, and various nasty qlippoth attached themselves to Jorch and the qlippoth have been sucking steadily at his paltry grey matter, and he's losing whatever few i.q. points he once had and becoming dumber and dumber. And that is why Jorch won't play black music because he thinks it means black mass music and it reminds him of the qlippoth that are still attached to him. Does that explain it? If not, refer back to one of Rush's concept albums from the 70s when they still wore kimonos, I think they dedicated a side of the record to this matter.

Jorch needs to pull out a Dio bumper'   "I cry out for magic I feel it dancing in the light
It was cold, Lost my hold To the shadows of the night; Feel the magic
I feel it floating in the air But it's fear And you'll hear It callingâ€"you bewareâ€"look out!!

Yeah, then Jorch should play Holy Diver and explain to everyone whether or not the line "ride the tiger" is in reference to a book by Julius Evola. Or he could just play Dio's old band Elf, instead.
