No, I never smoked. Seeing my grandfather, a lifelong smoker, die a long, lingering death from emphysema served as a warning to me.

The rules regarding smoking on commercial a/c really evolved through the 1980s. One of the latter iterations required airlines to accommodate any passenger who requested a non-smoking seat.  So if the only seat left on a flight was in the last row, the whole aircraft was designated non-smoking. I was on a flight from LAX to St Louis where that happened. Things got ugly, to the point the pilot threatened to land an hour into the flight and have federal charges brought against some of the irate passengers.  When we did land in St Louis, the non-smoking passenger who had pissed off the smokers was asked to deplane ahead of everyone else to be gone from the gate area before the smokers in the rear left the aircraft.
wow

I would post a link here to a detailed account of the life of Walt Disney, but it would be like stirring up a hornet's nest here, which I have no desire to do. It's bad enough that so much space is taken up by sock puppets discussing everything under the sun...except the suckage of George and his guests.
One little link won't clog things up.  I'm curious.  BTW, that "takeover" I guess was only 8 months.  10 grand a month was pretty good.

Disney's Burbank studio was not "taken over" by the USG in WWII, although the US military did station a couple hundred troops there.  Most were anti-aircraft specialists who manned/supported AAA guns set up at Disney to protect the nearby Lockheed aircraft factory, at the time the largest such plant in the world.  The weapons were based at Disney because the Lockheed plant had been heavily camouflaged with overhead netting and tarpaulins so that, from the air, it looked like a residential neighborhood.

http://www.militarystory.org/how-the-military-hid-the-lockheed-burbank-aircraft-plant/

The former Lockheed plant is now the Burbank Airport, I used to fly in and out of there frequently in the 80s.   They have, or at least had, a large display detailing the plant's history.  Included in the WWII part of the display were photos of the AAA at Disney, along with a description of the studio's use in defending the plant.
Interesting.

What's not to loathe!

Hatred is deeply self-destructive. You're not real clear on this whole "Life on Earth" thing functions properly, are you? You know... there are books. There are legitimate instruction manuals that can help one learn how to more skillfully and successfully navigate the challenges of this world.

Meanwhile, you're bitter. I'm not surprised. You clearly have cause. Also, you clearly have cause to stop being a squalling infant, and become a legitimate human being. Oh, but first, you have to rag on me for a few personality changes. Tell you what. I'll tell you, that if you only knew what has transpired, you would no longer be curious, and I'll further tell you that I've never considered your communications with me to be anything other than a thinly-veiled attempt to gain information or advantage from me, while all the while being rather less than truthful.

I'm going to be as clear as possible here: I don't trust you, and I never did. Nothing you've said has hung together correctly, and on top of that: why talk to me at all anyway? Oh, right, psyop, got it. If you were a real friend you wouldn't be such an obnoxious, bleating whinger. You'd also be able to identify me more clearly. I thought you were a friend of mine--you know me, I'll be friends with whores if the sushi is fresh--as although I could tell you weren't being all that honest, at least you seemed genuinely interested in relevant subject matter.

Whatever you are now, I don't have any desire to entangle myself any deeper, and it is not as though you are not the most reliable of narrators. Perhaps if you showed some erudition or any sign that you aren't a mouthbreathing Mongoloid cheerleader retard. Perhaps you're partnered up with Paladin, he seems like a cheerleading retard as well.

Point being, bored now. This is what you got? I don't even get it. I think you don't understand how this works: first, you supplicate, then, I consider allowing or not. You don't get to do it the other way with me, because those privileges were lost to you once I noticed your dishonesty.

I don't think much of this thread but it's nice you put it here, I guess. Gee I wonder why? Your fascination with Snoory is vile. Also I forgot to check on apartments, because I am not your homefinder, and you are failing to even begin to find the beginnings of the required trials.

So, in answer to you query: the fact that I am addressing you at all. I never asked for this. I did ask for your first private message, however. This seems like a clear situation to me.

Oh boy.  Second half guest is a natural intuitive.

Not real intuitive if they couldn't see Snoory's psyop bullshit coming a mile away. Maybe it's the "natural" part. I am supernatural. Which is a misnomer, but whatevah.

Disney made a ton of propaganda films during WWII and while I've heard the rumors he was a Nazi sympathizer, none of them proven or convincing, why would he have had a problem with Der Fuhrer's Face?  It won the Academy Award for animation.

My favorite of those WWII movies is the Hitler's Children one showing how young children were indoctrinated as Nazis.

There were a number of prominent Americans besides Disney who were tagged as pro-Nazi in the lead up to the US entering WWII, including Charles Lindbergh, Henry Ford, and Father Charles Coughlin.  Most were anti-Communist, isolationist, or just garden variety anti-Semites more than actually Nazis supporters.  With the notable exception of Coughlin, they actively supported the US war effort after Pearl Harbor and Germany's subsequent declaration of war on the US.

Disney and his studio deserve more credit than is generally given for supporting the war effort.  In addition to the propaganda films you mentioned, they also produced training and instructional films.  He allowed the US military blanket use of Disney characters for aircraft nose art, unit emblems, and other morale building purposes. (How he reacted to the more lurid examples of GI art featuring some of his female characters I'd be interested in knowing.)  He also instructed his illustrators and artists to assist in the design of such projects at no cost to the military.

Disney was grateful to the military, as had it not been for the military, Disney's studio might have folded.  Not only was the studio in financial trouble, they lost big money (at least initially and in the near term) on "Fantasia," but the studio was also facing serious labor issues as unions were trying to organize his studio. (Disney was very anti-union, he saw them as Communists.) On top of those issues, without the military and other government contracts, Disney would have not been able to procur the materials that were rationed during the war, including ink, paint, film and film processing equipment/supplies, etc.  Since the studio's work was considered essential to the war effort, those materials were made available.

According to his few loyal employees still alive, Disney was not grateful to the military, rather he was furious about how he was treated. It was strictly a case of "go along to get along".

Disney's studio was the only Hollywood studio that was seized by the government I am reading but only because it was close to an Air Force base. So maybe Walt was looking at other studios who were still making good money during the war while his studio was completely dedicated to making movies for the government and only paid enough to cover costs and he felt he was being forced to do more for the war effort than other studios.

Disney was not in good shape as the war started. Fantasia had been a flop and the Disney animators went on strike. He was very anti-labor and anti-communist.

Looking around I find it interesting that Mickey Mouse, Disney's iconic star, is not in the war movies - Donald Duck is the star of most of them. I need to google to see if there was a reason for this.

The AAA units stationed at Disney Studios to defend the Lockheed plant were gone by mid summer of 1942. After their defeat at the Battle of Midway, the Japanese carrier force ceased to be a threat to the West Coast.

Wartime contracts with the military were governed per duration regulations administered by the War Productuon Board.  No company made big profits, but they did get to stay in business. I attended a lecture a few years ago about a local GM division, Inland Manufacturing, tasked with producing M-1 carbines in support of the war effort.  They produced over 3 million carbines here during the war.  Like many other companies/industries (including Disney), Inland would have gone tits up without military contracts.  With strategic materials rationed/allocated by the WPB, and their ability to prohibit non war essential production and assign priorities, companies needed those contracts to just remain viable. With the financial/labor hole Disney had dig himself in 1941, the work the studio contracted to do with the military would have been a Godsend.

If anybody finds a Disney WWII cartoon with Mickey and Minnie post the link. I looked and didn't see any, just Donald, Goofy, Pluto and other lesser characters.

I may have scandal here, Mickey Mouse, America's most famous symbol, like John Wayne, may have cowardly sat out WWII or it's possible Mickey had Nazi sympathies or worse was a member and Walt kept him out of the propaganda movies out of fear Mickey might out himself and ruin the company.

and as i was googling i came across an article that mentioned an entry from Joseph Goebbel's private diary -  in it he says Hitler received 18 Mickey Mouse movies in the mail and he'd never seen the Fuhrer more delighted. lol fucking creepy Hitler sitting in the dark at Wolf's Lair watching Mickey Mouse cartoons.

what a war, so big, so many characters, i never get tired of reading about WWII, always a new story you've never heard about waiting to be discovered. Just the other day I stumbled on a heartbreaking story about an Italian Jewish family.

Don't know about Minnie, but Mickey was very active in WWII.  His likeness adorned hundreds of Allied a/c as nose art, and probably tanks as well. Just google "Mickey Mouse nose art" and dozens of photos will pop up.  He appeared on some unit/organizational patches and crests, as well. I remember one where a machine gun shooting Mickey was the insignia of one of the USAAF Aerial Gunner Schools, might have been Vegas.

There also was a Mickey cartoon on the Bf-109 flown by Germany's top ace of WWII, Adolf Galland.

During the WWII era all kinds of public characters were used without permission or payment. Today if one uses someone else's creation, legal papers are served with haste. Disney couldn't have stopped people from using his characters on planes and tanks if he wanted to. An example is the OSU mascot. Disney was asked by the university if they could use Donald Duck as a mascot in 1947. Disney said sure. It was a verbal agreement with no compensation. Only after the death of Disney was a formal agreement written up.

Disney's problem with organized labor had it's genesis during his early days in CA, when he was swindled out of the use of his first character: Oswald the the rabbit. It's a long sad story that doesn't belong here. In fact, Mickey was created as a replacement for Oswald.

America will never see the like of Walt again; a creative genius with virtually no personal ego. He never flaunted his wealth or engaged in conspicuous consumption. For Walt it was always about putting his next big project into action. He had a long happy marriage, and two daughters he dearly loved. There was never a hint of sexual scandal in his life. The way wealthy people live today would have puzzled him. Wealth to him was just a way to finance his next big project. He was multicultural before it was hip or PC, merely because his curiosity made him look at other cultures as making the world a more interesting place. God bless his memory.

This is one they made for the Canadian government. I think they did 4 animated movies for Canada to lift their spirits and get behind their troops.

More wholesome days, imagine doing these type of movies with Family Guy or Rick and Morty. We have no innocence left.

Norry is on another, "It is just like the flu." tangent.  This virus does not leave you, it can reoccur and the second time it is worse.  That can be within months.  It is a bioweapon.  Norry, you don't get, and I don't mean the virus.  It is again irresponsible of you to present this way.  It has been described as airborne HIV.

There is more to this virus than China, the CCP is telling the world.  They would not have responded and destroyed their economy if that were not the case.  I don't think they are sharing how bad it can be or it would panic the markets even more.  However, I do think it is irresponsible to send our children and teachers into the battlefront and be exposed and infected just for the sake of federal tax dollars.

New Sensation my ass.  Another inappropriate, Mickey Mouse show.

George I started a thread called jojo's bad bumper music.  And I've tried to change my avatar name for a long time.  I don't like the avatar name, which was created in a hurried moment in a house where jojos were served frequently.  I can't stand the name.  And now I see some new "JoJo" girls' brand all over stores.  Disgusting.  Can't stand the name.

God he has no shame or pride, just embarrasses himself over and over but doesn't seem to know or care that there are thousands of us listening to his stupidity every night.

He's got a British astronomer he's had on before, not that long ago I don't think. He's asking his usual dumb predictable questions - obviously runs out of questions so his lizard brain takes over and he blurts out the same dumb fucking question he asks every astronomer or physicist he's ever had on the program

'David since the last time you were on have you thought about the Big Bang Theory and how could it happen from nothing?'

yes George in the mere months since David was last on he solved the mystery of the Big Bang and he's saved it to tell you and your audience at 4 AM in the morning.
