You expected better from the exciting "new" coast with your host Dave Noorie?

Just wait till the guest who wants northern California to break off from the rest of the state to become "state of Jefferson." I'm sure the movement has nothing to do with all those non-white Californians down in SoCal.

Correct.  The idea has to do with issues such as water rights and self determination, and has been around for decades.

non-whites?  You mean there are white Californios?  Who'd a thunk?

There are, but they all shine shoes or wait tables.

Yep and the drumbeat has only grown as Cali's mismanagement of resources has become almost institutionalized in recent decades (along with other big problems I'm sure we'll hear about).

Btw on a side note, I currently reside in the area of OR that would be part of the new state, and our NPR station calls themselves JPR for Jefferson Public Radio.  The independent streak goes aways back.

I tuned in for a few minutes earlier and Jorge mentioned something about FEMA contacting his dehydrated-shit food sponsors and ordering all they had in stock, because gee golly, something is gonna happen. Fear porn. Turned it right off.

Yeah, I've heard that commercial during the Knapp shows I listen to. It makes me wonder: a) why FEMA would ask a private company about their food stores when I'm fairly certain they have access to all the MRE's they'll ever need; b) why would you advertise that FEMA asked you about it beyond attempting to generate fear that "sumptheen's gunna hapeen"; and c) why would you say no to FEMA, because it sort of makes you look like a materialist asshole that doesn't care if people go hungry?

The guest was anti American.

The democratic principle is 'one person one vote' not 'one county one vote'

So George says how fascinated he is by the state issue, then goes on to show he knows virtually nothing about it, then bumps the well-spoken and knowledgable guest after an hour (half of which was awful callers) so he can go to open lines about "people acting strange".

very typical of Noory dumping a guest early and going to stupid open lines callers...

I can understand that anybody listening to Noory would think "hopeless."

I seem to recall there was a time when a desire for liberty was an American virtue.  Anyway the issue is about representation when your state gov't consistently denies your region a voice, while at the same time collecting taxes from you and compelling you to live under their regulations.

For those who aren't aware, the guest on right now is the same guy who was on Ian Punnett's show claiming that Sonny Bono was murdered.

Murdered by a tree?  He must have seen the movie "From Hell it Came".

George:  "I think, not being a political show, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda, political editorial, political editorial, political editorial, I may invite some of these politicians on the show..."

He will tell you all about it if you buy his video off of his website for $14 too.

That is a step up from the list time I heard him say "we are not a political show," and followed it with "support Ron Paul. He is a fresh face that we need."

I agree with you, zeebo.  That part of California gets very little representation since the Warren ruling in '65.  There should be a balance between urban concerns and rural concerns.  That's what the Founders original intent was when they made the US Constitution. The Southerners didn't want the urban centers controlling the agenda and The Northerners didn't want the agrarian Southerners controlling the agenda either. A healthy balance was struck but has since been whittled away by the rich and powerful who mainly reside in the urban areas these days.  There was nothing anti-American in the guest's rhetoric.

I also might add that we're a Republic not a democracy.

If they have 1 million people, they would have two state assemblymen and one state senator, so they have representation and, of course, they would have fellow state legislators from other rural parts of the state.

I don't know what you mean by 'denying the region a voice' but if you mean by that 'they don't get their way' representative democracy only promises a say, it doesn't promise that you'll get what you want.

Secession is for whiny losers.

I'm not all that convinced that rural areas lose out to urban areas either.  There are a lot more people in suburban and exurban areas than in the big cities and politics is all about building coalitions.  If you are having trouble getting your issues addressed I suggest you look first at the people you send to the state legislature.  If the representatives of the proposed state of "Jefferson" are anything like  Rethuglic Party members in many rural areas they are likely tea baggers who are good at whining and complaining and lousy at legislating.

The guest claimed he was murdered and it was made to look like he hit a tree.  It seemed semi credible until his appearance on the show today.

I actually think Noory doesn't do enough open lines. The problem is they screen the calls to heavily and the sort of listener/caller has changed over the years to an idiot.  That and he doesn't do enough theme open lines and when he does do one it is retarded like psychic vampires or something silly.

I'm guessing it's less credible than this:

Oh God.... My wife just informed me that  Snoory and company are coming to my neighborhood this weekend...

Kent State is hosting a Paranormal weekend.
For $30 I can have lunch with him.....What an opportunity, if I can make it.

So I guess I need some creative questions to ask him. Any Suggestions?

That the screened callers are such idiots says much about the current C2C audience; and it ain't good.
