1.Russian people still have a very short life expectancy.  The only reason things improved under Putin was the high oil prices. Now that oil prices have declined Russia is in a major recession.  Putin did nothing during the time of high oil prices to diversify the economy or to develop the Russian infrastructure which a real patriot would have done. Instead he spent most of the money on wars and the military.  Putin doesn't love Russia, as his supporters claim, he  loves war and Russian military history.

2.Putin does the plundering himself, see Sochi Olympics.

3.The oligarchs in Russia have lost a lot of money due to the decline in oil prices and the western sanctions, but Putin leaves them alone if they don't challenge him.

Stupidly, I left the radio on when I went to make an omelette.  I could has sworn that I heard the guest use the example of a submarine mistaking a "large seagull" for a nuclear weapon coming in and being worried that they only have 14 minutes to decide what to do.  I thought I must have misheard, but started listening a little closer.

When the guest suggested that everybody take the weapons and store them separately so it took 36 hours to launch, George said it would not work because somebody would hold some back (the Russians or the Americans.)  The guest said that HE HAD NOT THOUGHT OF THAT!?!  What type of an idiot was being interviewed that he had not considered that somebody may not put all of their weapons into storage?

Needless to say, the station has been changed (and this time it is not even due to Dave- but his guest is an idiot...)

Obviously one can't debate about real world politics, Russia, or anything that goes beyond the level of Sesame Street kiddy niveau with somebody like you, who uses the "Putin is Hitler" analogy. true, but most people wouldn't like his answer anyway. Nemtsov was probably martyred by western intelligence trying to get more people to the protest march the following days. They wanted to start a Russian Maidan (putsch), but it didn't work out because they would need at least 100 - 200k people for that (and they only had 12-50k showing up, which is too small for Moscow).
As a living opponent of Putin he was pretty useless. He couldn't even get his party into the Duma among the 40+ parties in Russia.
