George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Started by MV/Liberace!, April 06, 2008, 01:23:02 AM

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No
I have no idea why, but since I began using this new computer all of the banners I've seen on Google and youtube have been related to Gaiam tv. Suddenly Noory's face is a constant online presence.

This is nightmarish

Just listened to the Belzer interview.  Had to know if it was as rough as was described in this thread.  It was.

There is a lot of BS in this thread.  The personal shots about his appearance, etc. , that is juvenile.  All I care about is his ability to interview.  That is his job.  And in that area, he fails mightily.

I, too, just listened to it today and pretty much agree with all that's been said here about it previously, including the above quote, and especially the praise of Belzer.
BUT right at the start Belzer said, "I'm not in awe of many people, but you're one of my heroes," Is it possible to be in awe of mediocrity? Guess you have to kiss a little but if you're plugging a book. But The Belz in still OK in mine.

Who is this bargain-basement Hoagland knockoff Norry has on now?

A guy who seems to understand there's a difference between being a science reporter and being a scientist.

I wondered if maybe Hoagland did something to piss Norry off. His voice is even similar.

I don't know.. I hope so :D

But I have heard this guy on Coast occasionally.

btw, I didn't mean to imply you didn't know the difference between a science journalist and a scientist.  I meant to imply Hoagland tries to pass himself off as a scientist when he doesn't even seem to understand some of the basic principles of science and certainly isn't educated as one.  I'll take Zimmerman over him any day.

yeah Zimmerman is one of Noory's longtime regular guests, separate from Hoagland.
They both appear frequently, usually as a first hour guest.

The c2c website has this new photo of Noory with his grand-daughters.
Look at that pose Noory always makes in these photos.
Could they be part of Noory's plan for his future c2cam host dynasty?  8)

George: "Speaking some Arabic, that word means devil."

Speaking some Arabic?

I'm surprised the Navy didn't keep him around for the Gulf War

Morgus

Noory keeps thinking 'jinn' are all evil demons and devils.
But they are the basis for the idea of 'genies' - and could be good ones like Barbara Eden... :D

Those girls are lucky.  Those Noory genetics mean they'll be in their 60s and still not have to worry about gray hair.

I'm sure they're sweet girls... After much consternation i decided that it would be in poor taste to photoshop some mustaches in.

No worries. Yeah, he was better than Hoagland. I was glad to hear him smack down the moon landing hoax caller.

Did he say anything really dumb, before I listen to this? I do not want to ruin my TV crush on Detective Munch.

Belzer was great and he had some smartass moments with the nooron... go on and listen!  I'll probly give it a whirl tomorrow.

George: "Speaking some Arabic, that word means devil."...

I just heard someone say this exact same line on a TV show the last day or so, don't remember which one (possibly the new Hawaii 5-0 or NCIS:LA, I had those of  on for background noise while working on a project).

Is it possible Big Phony Noory watched the same show and decided to steal it?

I'm sure they are, but just wait a few years and the photoshop will be superfluous.

George grew the moustache because it reminded him of his aunt.

I wonder if they knew their creepy uncle was behind them

Thank you.

We were all actually pretty impressed with Richard Belzer.  I have heard him on Coast once before so I guess he's a seasoned pro.

Regarding current guest Robert Stanley, I'm trying to figure out how someone can sound so coherent yet delusional at the same time.  I can't discredit his beliefs but he certainly has taken his research about the Jinn to heart.  I think I'll call it a night.

The Richard Belzer interview was one of the best things I've heard on c2c in a long while.  Even Jorge couldn't ruin it, amazing.

Juan

So, Ann Rice will be on during the first hour tonight.  I wonder if sNoory's 8-hours of show prep will tell him that she has gone back to being a Roman Catholic?  I see lots of opportunity for idiocy tonight.

Belzer: "What is your question, darling?"

:swoon:

I have always enjoyed the myths of the orient, especially the Arabian-themed stuff. I try to tell myself its from reading Richard Burton, but its most likely from the Tales of the Arabian Nights pinball game or a girl I used to date who looked amazing in Arabian costumes at Halloween. Robert Stevens brought some crazy stories and a little history so I liked his segment of the show. Some fun genie stories, including that the Jinn wrecked the world in the past and are a secret society dividing our country up with covert operations. I tried calling in, but Tommy was a dick to me when I told him I wanted to talk about the genie in my garage.

I know you are listening Jinn, I loved your pinball game

jinwicked

I have never tried calling in. Mr. Knapp does not reply to me anymore, either.

I like to imagine I am on some kind of blacklist for drawing rude pictures.

Still kind of meanie-pants to devote two hours to trashing Jins.  ;)

George: "Speaking some Arabic, that word means devil."

Once again, we enter the baffling hall of mirrors that is Noory, G.

He produces an incorrect statement, and tries to make himself look impressive in the process by claiming local knowledge. As Morgus has pointed out, djinn or jinn does not equate to devil at all. The most cursory of Google searches would reveal that. Wiki says the word means 'secret' or 'hidden' and also has no etymology to 'genie'. Even assuming Noory thought that was what the word meant, you would think, approaching a show on the subject, he or someone on the production team would conduct a little research in their 8 hour show prep. The djinn as spirits or gods are ancient and pre-date Islam by millennia. As Christianity did with pagan gods like Pan, the djinn were duly demonized by the monotheistic religion, but still don't equate to devils even in Muslim theology. Easy to see why Noory, in his cosy, Sunday School theology would think that.
Incidentally why didn't his guest correct him? He must surely have known better if he claims to be an expert on the subject.
Then there's the suggestion that he picked the line up second-hand and repeated it, while trying to cloak it in his 'Arab heritage'. It's hard to begin to fathom the mind that is capable of behaving like this.
A little knowledge may be a dangerous thing,: you will drown in a sea of ignorance.

I loved that, too.  He was so great with the callers:  I wish he'd do his own radio show.

Loved his mention of Graham Hancock, too.  The guy is just so tuned-in.

Some people here were looking for this video a few months back after Youtube removed it. It's the one where George gets busted while pretending to be a psychic.

It's now up on Dailymotion. I can't figure out how to embed it, so here's the link:
