           RIP
Coast to Coast AM
     1984 - 2003
Sadly it is not quite dead yet.  It is more like the undead- and they are trying desperately to reanimate it.  Turning coast form paranormal into a show of fear porn seems to be their game plan.  Any Wells show is a good example.  Noory tonight had Mitch Battros once again telling us that the power system will be fried (he believes it will be this year.)  Noory announced that Ebola might just be making its way to the US (happily his guest said that it is very unlikely- no doubt a disappointment for George.)  After that we all get to concentrate for hours on terrorism and learn how best to protect ourselves.  It seems to me the best way to thwart any terrorist is to commit suicide immediately.  It will be very hard for them to get a good body count during a bombing if we are already dead...

Unbelievable: after a string of stupid questions George actually just asked the guest Does the bacteria multiply?  No George, No.  There is a single bacterium that goes around producing all of the damage.  It enters a body and rather than reproduce it single handedly kills the host, leaves the body and stalks its next victim.   Idiot.  I am done for the night.  Good luck to the rest of you.

FYI,
Here's a pic of that quack Seth Farber, PhD. from last night's show.
I think it speaks for itself...

WOTR

I usually try not to laugh at somebody based on their physical appearance.  I have worked with mentally and physically challenged people in the past and realize that it is not always their fault how they appear.  When your worker does not tell you that a moo moo is not a good choice in clothing some people really do not know better.

I made an exception.  That is hilarious!  He purposely dressed up like that knowing his image was going to be captured???

I lied.  I still had the radio on in the background.  His idiot guest just told us that avoiding traditional cancer treatment and just having better nutrition is likely to change the outcome and you will be better.  It is good to hear more guests advocating for nutrition and against chemo.  Do not go for a mamogram either- there is no scientific reason for it and they are not helpful because an early diagnosis of cancer does not help.  Finally George has managed to work Tuermeric back into the show.  It seems it has been awhile since I have heard of the miracle spice.

Coast really does like providing platforms for their quacks...  I should head off to see if the guest is selling vitamins on his site.

WOTR

There it is.  Simone has the site linked to coast, but also http://simoneprotectivehealth.com/ where he sells products produced by simone protective pharmaceuticals inc.  He was one of the shark cartilage doctors in the early 90s stuffing the cartilage up his patients rectums.  Today he has the Simone protective cancer center where is will be happy to consult with you and find a treatment plan.  After listening to the segment (why is the radio still on) I fell a little mislead.  I was promised terrorists and got yet another cancer show.   I have no doubt that nutrition helps prevent cancer.  Stopping smoking, cutting down on drinking... these will help.  The problem comes when you decide that cancer is best treated with turmeric, advising people not to bother with screening or traditional doctors after being diagnosed.

Wow, now I am treated to George screaming Turmeric, Turmeric  Put her on Turmeric Charles!!!  Good old Dr. George happily diagnosing and prescribing treatments for his callers.

I'm confused. Is this what the guest said?

WOTR

Pretty much.  It was just on in the background, so perhaps somebody else can find a quote.  I just did a quick search to find out what the good Dr. believes as I do not want to misrepresent his views.  From http://healthnews.benabraham.com/html/mammography_causes_cancer.html we get

"Mammograms increase the risk for developing breast cancer and raise the risk of spreading or metastasizing an existing growth,' says Dr. Charles B. Simone, a former clinical associate in immunology and pharmacology at the National Cancer Institute...the annual mammographic screening of 10,000 women aged 50-70 will extend the lives of, at best, 26 of them; and annual screening of 10,000 women in their 40s will extend the lives of only 12 women per year.".

The article goes on to explain what this all means (the conclusion is not attributed to Simone, to be fair.)
So there's the lie and the depth of the Mammography Deceit spelled out: mammography will extend at best 2 women's lives for 10,000 women put at risk in order to benefit radiologists, the American Cancer Society, assorted bureaucrats, and other "interested" parties who profit off the vast, well organized mammography deceit when safe alternatives exist but are ignored!

It certainly appears that he does not endorse them when he outright says that they increase the chances of cancer and spread any that may be there...  It makes you happy that our health promoting host of Coast gives a platform to somebody such as this, does it not?  It makes you wonder how many gullible listeners will avoid cancer screening and cut their lives short based on this cancer specialists advice.

Shouldn't this be part of the GNS thread? seems redundant to start a new thread for this

The other night on Coast George said when he makes speeches most of the audience falls asleep.

That says it all right there.

Yep, GN is actually the master of several things.  Making himself look stupid and curing insomnia.  Good thing he usually works so fast at putting me to sleep, since his WTF comments can rapidly jolt me out of drifting off.

analog kid

It's the Martin Short character Nathan Thurm.

I really hate George Noory. He says so much nonsense that it's insane. Just reading about it on here infuriates me. His theories? THEORIZING based on what evidence? His nose hairs? Shut up George Noory. Fire this loser already.

Zircon

How many volumes of the same shit about George Noory can you people write about? How many of you have posted and re-posted the same fucking thing over and over again? For Christ's sake think of another topic to create so we can discuss something interesting please.

Why do you care?  This is the noory sucks thread!  If your'e sick of it move on or start your own fascinating topic.  This is my therapy!  I need this thread dammit!  Can't you see I'm burned out!?

NOORY SUCKS!

Just having a little fun Zircon.  Don't start a dissertation on me here.   ;)

Juan

I come to praise George Noory. Last night, as the guest talked about angels, sNoory seemed to stay awake.

Long live Tumeric.

coaster

I hope no one listens to this fucking lunatic who says getting screened is pointless. Im going to write a strongly worded email to coast that will  more than likely not be read.

The first photo is Martin Short as a character on SNL.
The second photo is comedian Andy Dick, and the third photo appears to be Andy Dick again made up as a character.

Since we don't have a 'Tom Danheiser Sucks!' thread, I'll put this here.

Last night's show was a classic example of everything that's wrong with C2C, but it wasn't Noory's fault. The guest was a medical doctor talking about alternative treatments for cancer, etc.

Every caller in the second hour of the guest's appearance only wanted to talk about his/her personal medical troubles, most asking the guest to diagnose their conditions and/or recommend treatment.

How do these self-obsessed goobers get past what one would assume are professional call screeners ? Do Danheiser and his cohorts even understand the idea of relevance and the fact that no reputable physician would even try to diagnose symptoms over the radio ?

George Noory sucks, but I'll put Danheiser in the same class as John Wells - suckage which exceeds that of their 'Captain'.

Ah, but what you do not realize is that my ADD makes it all new.  I will listen to Noory for weeks on end, realize how much he sucks and quit (I was Noory free for weeks until recently.)  Eventually the memories will fade and I will tune in only to be astonished once again at what the idiot actually says / advocates.  You may think that I could just read my old posts and know he sucks- but it does not work that way... I have to re-experience it first hand; I am presently in the middle of that rediscovery.

Therein lies the rub.  No reputable physician would ever appear on Coast to be interviewed by Noory in the first place.

Wasn't Tommy the special guest for the c2c live chat this week?
Does anybody have a transcript they can post of that?

Physical appearance comments should be off limits, in my books.  Comments about one's job performance should be fair game.

There is nothing about Tom Danheiser that makes me think he is anything but part of the problem.

But given George's complete lack of self awareness or understanding of what makes for a good show, and his inability to have a 2 way conversation at any level but the most basic (where all he has to do is ocasionally grunt or interrupt with a pointless meaningless comment), my guess is Dumbheiser is just putting on the type of caller George asks for.

I don't listen to George, so didn't hear this show, obviously, but don't automatically assume quackery.  Lots of recent studies published in leading journals are finding increasing evidence that imaging as a screening mechanism causes more harm than good.
Lots of links in this article:http://www.slate.com/articles/double_x/doublex/2012/08/ct_scans_and_cancer_is_your_doctor_increasing_your_risk_with_all_that_medical_imaging_.html

This reminds me of talk radio in the late '60s and early '70s.  Talk radio was mostly local then, and psychics were a big thing.  Psychics would come to town on a book tour, and the radio shows would book them as in studio guests.  Lots of "will I ever find a husband" and "what career path should I take" questions from the callers - personal questions
The shows loved having psychics as guests because they got lots of callers.  Then ratings measurement got better and station managers realized that lots of callers didn't translate into lots of listeners.

I wonder if Coast has fallen into this same trap - bring on the quacks, get lots of calls about personal medical conditions, and think you are getting lots of listeners.

sNoory, who sucks, probably paid no more attention in the '70s than he does now.

ziznak

Unfortunately I was AGAIN unable to fall asleep listening to sNoores n friends... the show sucked ... Same ol Nostradamus crap from the guest and noory's booble headed answers...

When Knapp or Ian are on I can actually actively listen.

Georgie and Wells = put on the show then play whatever video game over top of it.

NoMoreNoory

Fired up enough by the Seth Farber show to shoot the following email to Snoory yesterday morning (Wednesday), CCd to Tom and Lisa:

<<I am writing to express my disgust in relation to Monday night/Tuesday morning's show.

In the first place, if you are going to put a charlatan quack like 'Doctor' Seth Farber 'Ph D' on your show, you might at least bother to tell your audience that he is a committed Scientologist, so that his anti-psychiatric drivel can be put in the context of that cult's war against psychiatry. People are aware that they claim to be able to cure bi-polar disorder with vitamins - as Tom Cruise told Brooke Shields to cure her post-partum depression with vitamins.

More importantly, though, I accuse you of utter irresponsibility beyond the bounds of belief to allow this man access to the airwaves to effectively urge schizophrenics and bi-polar sufferers to throw away their meds. What are you thinking? Of course there is a debate to be had about over-medication, particularly in the USA, and about other approaches to dealing with mental illness, but it needs to be dealt with very, very carefully, not allowing a zealot to promulgate dangerous views which went entirely unchallenged.

Similarly, his friend Paul Levy was allowed to regale us with his tale of 'curing' a blind woman accompanied by nothing more than gasps of credulous astonishment from Mr Noory. The man was clearly in the grip of a full-blown psychotic episode and his story needed to be put firmly in that context. Mr Noory even seemed to condone criticism of the medics for restraining Mr Levy in his bed overnight. You should be critical of them if they had failed to do so - for Mr Levy's safety as much as theirs and fellow patients. If any of you have ever witnessed - as I have - an individual in the grip of such an extreme mental breakdown, you will know that mental illness, far from being a 'spiritual gift' as Farber spuriously claims in his 'book', is a painful curse and that medication has an important role to play in treating it.

Amateurish and irresponsible broadcasting of the first water. You should all take a long hard look at yourselves and what you are doing on the show.>>

You will, perhaps, be unsurprised to hear that to date their has been neither acknowledgement nor reply.......

I put C2C on as Snoory was introducing his guest, John Hogue, as 'my special friend' and 'a world authority on Nostrodamus'. They swapped thoughts about the full moon - a blue moon, GN pointed out. Hogue responded that it's in Aquarius which are, apparently, 'some of the wackiest.'
In came Noory. 'I can't think of a better time to have you on, because you're right. There's very, very strange things goween on out there. People are acting weird. We see it every day, but I've been sensing it for about a year now. Erm. You probably feel it more than anybody.'

Enough! Click. Gone in 90 seconds.

Perhaps it's time for my girlfriend and I to introduce the George Noory Drinking Game. It may be the only way to make him tolerable. The rules are very simple. You will need:

The alcoholic beverage/mind-altering substance of your choice.
Pen and paper
A bell*. You could call it Art, just for fun

*Optional. There is an App that provides a rather attractive old-fashioned dinger of the sort you used to find on hotel reception desks.

Obviously, if you can play this in a group situation, the more fun it will get.

Make a list of your favoured Nooryisms. These might include:
'People are acting weird'
'Something big is happeneen'
Portals
Angels
Demons
Ouija boards
His father
His mother
His aunt
Disclosure
'Exaaactly'
'What's your take on that?'
December 21st 2012
The Mayans
'There is no doubt about it'
etc, etc

As each agreed trigger is heard, the bell should be sounded and a quantity of your chosen substance consumed.
You might place bets on the chances of anyone still being conscious by the end of the show.
Enjoy!!
