Speaking of Willie, I happened upon this the other day:

http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/browning-hi-power-9mm-pr34823/

This could possibly be a pistol once owned by Willie himself.
Sweet. It is his birthday coming up or even maybe today. Someone should buy it for him as a gift!

Yeah, it really makes one wonder if it really is one of his?  If so, the asking price is only slightly higher than one would pay for a vintage Hi Power anyway.   Collector Firearms is in Texas, so....?

Madam, I would defend to my last breath your right to sound like a brain-damaged chimp.

Funny you should say "brain-damaged chimp". I sometimes wonder why I hang around here, but have come to realize that encounters here can be a bit like a Jane Goodall experience.

BTW- the chimp's name is 'Lefty'. He's always looking for handouts and loves to be the center of attention. All we have to do is applaud his act and he's a happy guy. His response to confrontation is predictable, he becomes wildly vocal and throws dirt around to the delight of the younger chimps. It's an impressive display when you see it the first couple of times but then it's just screaming and dust- doesn't change anyone's opinion about him. When the dust settles -he's still our 'Lefty'. God bless the beasts and the children.

This lofty dismissal thing you have going at the moment only works on someone if you have their respect first, otherwise it looks a bit desperate. But by all means carry on. I haven't come across a Trump supporter yet who doesn't ooze bitterness, so I'd rather you vented your nasty old spleen on me than some hapless (possibly Mexican) bystander.

You do realize that these are your exact words- right? I just made some substitutions- the composition and tone are yours.

A jewel from the mind of the original poster somehow turns into a "lofty dismissal" when held up to a mirror? I don't think you have the influence that you think you do. We can try again tomorrow. We'll both be here.

Because the 'Heinrich Himmler Fan Forum', of which you were such a notable member, kicked you out for being too hardcore.

I've managed to rub along OK without needing to carry a portable cannon around with me, although I know that some of you over there need extra reassurance. It's just a pity you can't play with your bang-bangs without harming innocent people.

Exaggerate much?  Many people who have guns don't have cannons.  I have a Ruger 17 and .308 Rifle.  However, I'm not opposed to people owning cannons.  You never know when they might come in handy should the world collapse or if the government decides it wants to take away our rights.

So I take it by your nonanswer that you are ok with a shadowy body controlling guns?

You cannot possible believe that StarrMtn oozes anything resembling bitterness.

You should get out more. Anti-Trumpers wake up to a bottle of Angostura.

I noticed that he failed to answer your post.

They also can be used in celebrations and holidays, though one usually wouldn't use real shot in those circumstances. I will note that not only do the British demand that their government take, or highly regulate, their guns but also demand that they aren't allowed to carry knives, even knives that many people here who might 'have on their person' during the course of a day- like a pocket knife that locks. There are exemptions for tradesmen, chefs, etc but not if not for work or traveling to/from it. BUt even something like a Leatherman or Swiss Army knife is illegal (good luck using those in a fight BTW. By the time you open the blade it is over.) But the UK bans them since they don't trust their fellow citizens. (It doesn't stop the criminals, of course.)

That is simply ridiculous.  I gather their police don't regularly carry guns either which is the epitome of stupid.

I can see Pud and Sredni's point to a degree.  I'll be glad to turn in my guns just as soon as EVERYONE else does.  No?  The gov'ment/military/LE  gonna keep theirs?  Then I'm gonna keep mine.
If you don't have a gun, you don't really have a voice when it comes right down to it.  And then you've got no choice, and you are at the whim of those who are armed.  I think there have been more than a few examples of that happening in history.

Maybe I'm wrong minded.

I grew up on a farm where guns are just a part of everyday life.  My Dad drove around with a gun rack in the back window, a .22 and a shotty resting in it.  We used guns to hunt deer, ducks, pheasant, etc.  I remember Dad having to shoot a skunk that kept trying to get into the chicken coop one late night.  I can't imagine how that would have went if all he had was a sharp stick.

And knives?  Every self-respecting farm boy carried a jack in his pocket,  No exceptions.  We used to use them at recess...whittle, trade them, etc.  Christ, if a kid tried that now, the playground would be surrounded by SWAT in no time.   ::)

How the fuck can anyone go through a day without a pocket knife? I always carry a knife and i use it every day, my EDC beater knife was an ESEE Zancudo and i ended up loosing it when i flipped my ATV in a field. Loosing that knife was worse than loosing a cellphone and i ended up replacing it with a Ontario RAT 1. I am hard on knives so i don't like carrying my expensive Spyderco daily cause it's muh safe queen.

See?  Those are some nice knives MiKu.  I gotta up my status a bit when it comes to a carry knife.  I still have the farm boy mentality.  I alternate between an old Case canoe and a Buck knife (327).

Buck 110 was getting too heavy for EDC but I have some small pocket knives. But some knives are so cheap (and your computer tracks you) so I was buying Christmas presents on Amazon and during checkout an add pops up "do you want to 'add on' a Schrade SCH502S knife to order." Like $6 with free shipping. So, I figure 'why not.' Knife came, still a bit heavy but has the pocket clip and opens FAST (not automatic but darn near close.) A month or so it I'm pulling out to cut some string and PING off flies the pocket clip. I can find that but not one of the tiny torx screws. "Well a $6 dollar knife, what to expect." But instead I tracked down their service dept online and called up to some place in Kentucky. Nice lady. They sent me some torx screws, another pocket clip just in case, and advised me to use some Locktite on the screws. So far so good. And GREAT customer service considering also that it was a discontinued knife, she told me ,but "let me look at the specs.....comes back...yeah I got some stuff that will work and I'll send you extra in case it happens again."

Wow.  Great service!  Yeah, Schrade.  My first knife (from Dad) was an Old Timer.  Wish I still had it.   Good little knives and lots of guys carried them.

She even included two torx allen wrenches with the extra pocket clip and the extra tiny screws! And arrived in two days at no cost.  I was expecting a "run around" and was resigned after the "discontinued model" line and ready to hang up and she is "hang on Hon, let me look over in this drawer and at the specs. Yeah these will work." Great service.

Decent customer service is near death in this country.  It's good to know there are those out there still giving good service.

I carry around one of these.  Just uses razor blades.  Comes in handy tearing open those plastic packages that are so hard to open otherwise.  You know the kind that multiple screwdrivers and the like come in among other things.

Hey, it's even got a thumb stud.  Pretty nifty!   I'll have to look into one of those.

I have a Buck 110 but i like knifes i can open one handed so thumb studs are nice. Automatic knives are banned in my state but i am thinking about buying a Schrade SC60C with a push button lock and converting it to an auto with a spring kit from www.switchbladekits.com

"Stanley Knives" (razor knives, box-cutters, etc) are one of the most proscribed "illegal knife" in the UK, especially Scotland as I recall. They are dirt cheap, one can claim plausible reasons for having them, and the hooligans/Teds/etc like them because they cut quick and leave scars ("Glasgow Smile" etc) but also not, usually, going to get a death from it. Hoodlum stuff. But all varieties are great for opening boxes, cutting tape, breaking down boxes etc (just was roped into helping someone move so LOTS of that) and I try to use them rather than my various pocket knives when doing stuff like that because the gum/glue build up and ability to quickly change blades when they get dull.
