Random Political Thoughts

Started by MV/Liberace!, February 08, 2012, 10:50:42 AM

The Left in this country has a strong tradition of supporting mass murders like Stalin, Hitler, Mao, people like Castro, Che and Pol Pot, only abandoning them when the whole world can see what's been done.

Hamas and Hugo Chavez are the newest darlings.  For some reason they've skipped over Kim Jing Un.

My Jewish side of the family refuses to vote for Ron Paul. They consider him an anti-semite bla bla. They have all these examples of it. Ron Paul is just not electable. People would rather go with pretty boys in designer suits. Personally, I don't care if a President is racist. I think all of them are to a certain extent. Most presidents have been rich boys who don't want to associate with the plebs. I know this is why Clinton appealed to so many people. I think Maureen Dowd or was it Toni Morrison? who called him black because he was from the poor south and he liked to eat fast food.

I am a “racist” in that I believe that different ethnic groups are different and it is okay to notice this.  I even think that mono-ethnic societies work better than multi-ethnic societies.  I suspect that many of the posters on Coast Gab that are always attacking others for being “racists” live in majority White areas and have no idea what living in a majority non-White area is like.  (Visiting a non-White area of the world where White Americans are more or less welcome doesn’t count.  These are often examples of people having their own cultures and welcoming visitors and guests on their own terms.)

But back to Ron Paul:  I volunteered for Ron Paul locally; not because he is a “racist” -- I do not believe he is -- but because he is the only candidate who is honest and does not support the status quo.  I talk openly about my racial beliefs (with people of all races) and rarely have a problem because of it.  I did not meet any other “racists” volunteering for Ron Paul.  Nearly everyone had the usual libertarian ideas: i.e. that people should operate as self-interested individuals and not as members of an ethnic group.  They were divided on whether or not it should be legal to have voluntary mono-ethnic organizations or projects. (For example an all-White school, an all Michoacán apartment complex, an all Indian business, etc.)

The volunteers themselves were about 70% White and 30% non-White. This IS pretty White by local standards.  (They were mostly Mexican-American and various Asian ethnicities).  The leadership was Viet-Ching.  No Jews, but I never heard anyone saying anything anti-Jewish.  When volunteers talking about “banksters” were accused of being “anti-Semetic” by members of the general public, they were at first truly shocked.  After a while they got used to it and just denied it.

The “racist” remarks in the newsletters were attributed to Murray Rothbard.  Nobody agreed with them and only a few knew that Rothbard was Jewish.

There was a White guy formerly from Detroit who (in response to my questioning) refused to acknowledge that inner-city Detroit was more run-down and had more crime than the Whiter suburbs.  Seemed pretty weird to me.  I am more used to the views of my liberal relatives who acknowledge these problems, but blame them on White racism.

.........
My experience has always been that people call others "racist" as a method of silencing debate.  The best response is to refuse to be intimidated.

I adore Hugo and his unwillingness to give into the Jackals, evading assassination, and even withstanding the riots the U.S. paid for.

Naturally; Kim Jong-un is the figurehead for a nation whose prison system most resembles Unit 731. I hear all of Kim Jong-il's other successors left for the South, Japan, and other nations; leaving only Kim Jong-un- anyone in that family with sense got out fast, but not him. I am dead certain he is mentally retarded.

Well, since I'm the only actual socialist here, I'm going to make this post. Obama is not a socialist. People are throwing around the word so much. It's sad how people use it as an insult. It's also sad how Americans don't want to pay for people's welfare cheques and whatever. These days it's impossible to "pull yourself up by the bootstraps". When you pay taxes you should be paying for your roads and highways, and your hospitals. People are dying because they can't afford basic healthcare. People can't even afford to feed their kids. Your country is supposed to be a first world nation, yet everyone is so greedy and people are dying because of that. How many people here are against the whole Occupy movement? You sure shouldn't be. You shouldn't shoot yourself in the foot.

I just had to say that. Yes I'm a socialist. I would share my last dollars to buy you a plate of food.

I know the feeling but you are not "the only."   As right-wing as this place looks, there are a few sane folks around.

As I would too.   But the modern Americans would take that only as a sign of weakness to be exploited by spending billions*platecost to steal the cost of 1 plate from you.  Since I read your post a few days ago I thought of how modern Americans would pervert common kindness and sacrifice their own kids in the process.... paying a billion times lunch cost to hire multi layers of military mercenary contractors which ultimately devolve down to paying their own kids minimum wage to steal the lunch money that you had offered.....

The unfortunate thing for the Syrian people is that we’ve a weak international leader in office right now. Romney, if elected, is a businessman and not an international thinker himself and he may need to get a VP with experience on the international scene. With a strong economy a nation can effectively engage and promote its policies on the international stage.

Our usual aggressive foreign policy is going to take steps off of the world stage as our severe economic and domestic problems are far more important and need to be addressed above all other things. That is the reality of our situation.

Our former bought and paid for thugs in the region in Mubarak, Qaddafi, Hussein and the former leader of Yemen have all been removed. This administration was complicit in the demise of each. Those were the marching orders handed down. While they were leading their countries we had a lid on things but everybody knows that can’t last forever.

This administration’s seeming outward “friendliness” with the Islamic rebels in each country isn’t something invented by and controlled by our president. He was told, as all other presidents are told, what to do and a timeline in which to get it done. All of the turmoil in the region is strictly economic as are the true reasons for all conflicts. Only portions of the Taliban and some Al Qaeda “true believer” ideologues appear to be acting largely according to philosophical/religious grounds.

I believe all of these movements by Russia, China, Iran and the United States are in preparation to slice and dice up the region for future energy needs. Russia has a lot of national resources as does the United States. To “regulate” outflow from this region is the grand prize. China is not energy rich and therefore needs to tap into what it can get either through military conquest or purchase as they have the means to pay for energy â€" for awhile. China’s economy depends upon the West to survive. True, they are building domestic markets but how well can this nation survive if it winds up selling things to just its own people. It can’t â€" it needs capital and consumer markets from abroad even if those markets are weakened as the West is continuing to head for the foreseeable future.

If push comes to shove, the United States will not engage itself in Syria. The moves out of Moscow and Beijing in particular are well timed and present too much adversarial power for our military forces to impose anything over Syria. Providing munitions to the Syrian rebels will be practically impossible as naval forces from both Russia and China will prevent this transfer and will prevent American warplanes from patrolling the skies over Syria.

The Syrian version of “Arab Spring” is going to prove to be even bloodier and even if Putin doesn’t support Assad, he will secure Syria with whomever he may be replaced with along with Russia’s allies.

As a former staunch imperialist, it pains me to say so, but I agree with b_dubb on this one. We (US) are far too much invested in Middle Eastern countries, most of whose people hate us. Let the Syrians work this out.

Zircon

Would you offer the same suggestion about "no involvement" to the Russians and Chinese?

It's reactive. Russians have been fucking up Mid to Far East nations for many years now. It's not about pulling out so others can succeed at it. It's about doing the right thing. There is no success in meddling. Never ever.

The very fact that it is in the American psyche to "pull out" says it all.

b_dubb

we don't need to give the Arabs more reasons to hate us. the Arab League should handle this.

I just read this e-mail after posting and like it so much I'm gonna share:

The Muslims are not happy!

They're not happy in Gaza .
They're not happy in Egypt .
They're not happy in Libya .
They're not happy in Morocco .
They're not happy in Iran .
They're not happy in Iraq .
They're not happy in Yemen .
They're not happy in Afghanistan .
They're not happy in Pakistan .
They're not happy in Syria .
They're not happy in Lebanon .
They're not happy in Bahrain

They're happy in Australia .
They're happy in England .
They're happy in France .
They're happy in Italy .
They're happy in Germany .
They're happy in Sweden .
They're happy in the USA .
They're happy in Norway .
They're happy in every country that is not Muslim.
And who do they blame?

Not Islam.
Not their leadership.
Not themselves.

THEY BLAME THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE HAPPY IN!

AND THEY WANT TO CHANGE THEM TO BE LIKE THE COUNTRY THEY CAME FROM
WHERE THEY WERE UNHAPPY !!

Excuse me, but how dumb can you get?

Great post.  I'd also point out it isn't just the Muslims that come here, only to want to change things to be as much like home as they can.  Starting with people pretending to be 'offended' when we celebrate holidays like Christmas.

Imagine an American moving to some country and complaining about their culture, holidays, what is taught in school...

this is brilliance.  it's exactly how i've always thought about the arab populations of the world, but i never found a way to articulate it with this efficiency.

Clearly, growing up in the Arabian culture provides one with insights we non-Arabs will never truly understand. While my wife is Anglo like myself, our Godparents are a former Orthodox seminary student and Russian emigrant via Australia (parents fled during the Revolution and then from China when Mao came in) and his Jordanian wife, a former Catholic nun. Our association and friendship took place in Seattle years ago.

I can't take credit for that... like I stated it was an e-mail that I received, from of all people my Mom, that I found hit the nail on the head... So I shared it here... Whoever did initially pen such an insightful poem gets the accolades... I'm just the vehicle... lol

Sounds smart to me. If I gathered in a specific voting area of a city, I would start exerting as much political authority as I could-be it Detroit, Toronto, or the Moon.

You left off Saudi Arabia which internally is in all heaps of trouble.
As well as Muslim Sub-Saharan Africa, Indonesia, and India.

Anyway your post reminds of a story from Ga Ga Pee Pap Monk about all the damn Irish coming over, talking about how much they loved Ireland and complained about the US.  Followed by expletives about potato famines. So not much changes.

Last year, when the Arab spring took hold of the Middle East, Saudi Arabia gave all citizens $5,000.00. Not shady at all! I believe Kuwait followed suit.

They have this scholarship program that is meant to develop their nation, but really, it's just a way to get young people out of the country so they don't stir up trouble. Also, the hope is they get their hormones dealt with and that Saudi has to deal with less problems. I also heard that several students in London lost their scholarships and were fined for protesting against regimes. Gotta love it! No winning. Sounds fun.

i hadn't considered this as a reason behind their scholarship program, but it makes sense... particularly in the current climate.
