A technical question on people's avatars ...

I see a lot of really cool avatars that people use on here, that I'd like to use in posts or commentary. But ... pngs don't want to seem to read on a Mac or on certain boards I post on.

Is there any way to convert them to a jpeg or gif file so I can use them ?

I do a lot of posting both on line and on my blog and just passed the 10,000 post mark on a board I post on. Took me 10 years and 3 1/2 months to get that far.

you can convert them in photoshop
you can also make your own animated .gif files for an avatar
in photoshop as long as your file isn't too large, this
website limits avatars to be under a certain size,
though I'm not clear on what the max size is

You may also be able to convert them in GIMP freeware if you don't have photoshop
