Quote from: Lovely Bones on February 26, 2012, 11:48:29 AMI never thought I'd be in a position to defend Anna Nicole, but here goes anyway. She actually refused to marry her old codger until she "made it" on her own, which is something I give her credit for. I think there was something like a two-year period or longer that she kept putting him off marriage while she did the Guess Jeans stuff and Playboy, not sure of the details, but then I wasn't really paying attention to wherever I saw this. I also give Anna Nicole some credit for trying hard to raise her son well despite having had zero role modeling in terms of motherhood and also for at one point picking Larry Birkhead, who seems to be a truly decent human being. I don't think Anna Nicole was a Courtney Stodden--just a poor soul who like so many others got hooked on prescription drugs, was manipulated by those around her (most especially that sleazy lawyer guy whose name I forget), and wound up dead way too early. Maybe I'm going to easy on ANS, but I think Courtney's just a slut for money and fame, and her parents are her pimps, whereas I think ANS was a very sad case.

Quote from: the_wanderer on May 23, 2012, 02:50:49 PMGeorge Carlin did great routines involving all of these and more and he was funny as hell. - I agree with Michael. Freedom of speech must be defended and I've been banned and kicked out from quite a few forums. - This forum one is the best so far as letting people say what they want.

Quote from: Morgus on August 30, 2012, 11:39:41 PMAll grown up at last! Doug Hutchison's teen bride Courtney Stodden turns 18But Courtney is yet to make a decision on whether or not she will be paving a career in the adult entertainment industry and teased: ‘I’m not going to say yes right now and I’m not going to say no.’
Quote“Rates of rapes and sexual assault in the U.S. are at their lowest levels since the 1960s,†says Christopher J. Ferguson, a professor of psychology and criminal justice at Texas A&M International University. The same goes for other countries: as access to pornography grew in once restrictive Japan, China and Denmark in the past 40 years, rape statistics plummeted. Within the U.S., the states with the least Internet access between 1980 and 2000â€"and therefore the least access to Internet pornographyâ€"experienced a 53 percent increase in rape incidence, whereas the states with the most access experienced a 27 percent drop in the number of reported rapes, according to a paper published in 2006 by Anthony D’Amato, a law professor at Northwestern University. What if it turns out that Âpornography use actually reduces the desire to rape? It is a controversial idea, but some studies support it. Work in the 1960s and 1970s reported that sexual criminals tend to be exposed to pornographic materials at a later age than noncriminals. In 1992 Richard Green, a psychiatrist at Imperial College London, disclosed in his book Sexual Science and the Law that patients requesting treatment in clinics for sex offenders commonly say that pornography helps them keep their abnormal sexuality within the confines of their imagination. “Pornography seems to be protective,†Diamond says, perhaps because exposure correlates with lower levels of sexual repression, a potential rape risk factor.
