If Art comes back

Started by HorrorReporter, June 09, 2011, 07:09:28 AM

Here we go: If Art comes back, do stations drop Noory like a bag of potatoes or do both shows exist, with Art regaining the thoughtful intellectual crowd and Noory keeping the after midnight whinos and wingnuts?

It isn't likely to happen, but since it is a thought exercise, why not...

Both scenarios are likely. Personally I would love to see the Noory machine wither away. Let him sit there reading his leer financial portfolio on his p90x crying into his prostate formulated juice. Man I hate that guy.

It'll probably be like it was back 7 years ago:  Noory weekdays and Bell weekends.  I don't see Bell doing a weekday schedule again, but even a weekend schedule is enough for me.  Personally, I think it should be Knapp on weekdays and Bell on weekends.  I'm happy if they just fire Noory or regulate him to weekends only.

I think the scenario needs to be clarified.

Are you talking about if Art comes back to COAST, or if Art comes back to broadcasting/radio SOMEWHERE?

Although Lisa Lyon assured me in an email that Art will always be welcome at the C2C mic, I highly doubt Mr. Noory would be comfortable with that.

If he did it would most likely be in a limited, guest-hosting role, and I really just don't see him submitting himself to the political and corporate red tape that modern C2C has become, nevermind the tone and thrust of the show being almost the exact opposite of what he created--it's a sick parody.

But that doesn't rule out him returning in some other form or forum--his own show, a podcast (unlikely as I think he likes live, interactive radio, but still), or some other venue or format.

And I think--*if* he were to return, it's the venue and format that would determine what happens to Noory and Coast. I think IF Art wanted to return to broadcasting, he could quite happily stake out his own little island somewhere (a metaphor for his current homeplace!) in the radio world and coexist with Coast. And I think the Coast people would be a lot more worried about HIM than he would be about THEM. Not in terms of ratings or syndication, simply because they really do seem to want to leave him in the past and not acknowledge him anymore.

My .02, for whatever it's worth.

You are too kind with "potatoes."  When Art comes back, snoortard will be dropped like a bag of steaming shit - which is what he is.  Nuff said. ;)

yes, boiling shit.

Art won't come back because Art CAN'T come back. Art is gone, the man currently known as "Art" is merely his reanimated corpse.

*That* would be "Noorvana"! Sadly, the best that we can hope for is that Noory will pull an "Imus". His self aggrandizement has gotten much worse in just the past month, and it's made it impossible to listen to Coast when he hosts it. Maybe he'll go on a tirade, like Tracy Morgan and Michael Richards.
