My hard drive failed, lost everything. Over three years of projects, files and pictures. Had several passwords autosaved on firefox, including my email, so those are lost. Tried to reset email but didnt work.

I wouldn't abandon all hope. There's some possible voodoo that can be done.

The only password i did remember is the one to bellgab.  This tablet thing is far too hard to type and read, so my future posts will be far and few between im afraid which might be good or bad considering who reads this messege. Thats the way she goes i guess. Anyways, cheers folks, i need a drink.

Having worked in the data storage industry for a decade I know the importance of backing up your data whether you are a company or an individual. I have multiple backups of all my data. Personal and business.

You are backed up, all right.

Why is everything "weird" now?  Of course, Noory's always been weird but now every other ad on the net promotes one "weird" trick, food, ingredient, you-name-it.  Shouldn't it at least be "one AWESOME Weird" you-name-it?  ::)  Besides, we all know there's more than one "weird" supplement, with Noory pushing both turmeric AND Carnivora.

Carbonite and IDrive.  How I despise the I-Drive commercial with the two twits supposedly checking a packing list for a trip.  You'd never guess the clown who exclaims "We need to have our data backed-up!" is reading from a script.  ::)

Have you tried the old "stick it in a freezer" trick?  It's worth a shot.

The problem I have with that commercial is figuring out whether it was supposed to be a "husband/ wife" or "father/ daughter" duo.

That commercial makes no sense.  They are flying across the country for whatever reason, but they claim they need things like their tax records backed up. I don't know, but when I'm flying or driving somewhere, I really don't pay much mind to my tax records.

I have a lot of items collected over the years that I would love to sell on ebay. I am hesitant because I fear encountering lying buyers making it difficult and ebay judging in their favor.

ebay is almost entirely anti seller. i hate that company.

It seems like ever since Gov. Jerry Brown signed the emergency drought measure it's rained like a hundred effing inches here in NorCal and is still going. Dude, could you please unsign that thing and maybe issue an executive order regarding a drought of common sense or something instead?  :-\

Jackstar

I just heard on the radio as I was driving home, that local measures of rainfall here have been the most ever recorded for the month of March.

Reminder: I am in SEATTLE. In addition to being known for getting away clean with cheating at the Super Bowl, our city is known for RAIN.

MOST EVER. MARCH RAIN.

It has never been pro-seller, and will never be  pro-seller - any swings in any direction always lead to a better "buyer" experience.   Amazon does the same thing, except they make so much more money on their sales that when there is a case that the seller is probably right, Amazon takes the loss themselves.   For that reason alone, Amazon is the better site for sellers.

I remember a time a few years back when it was much easier to get refunds, open claims, etc. as a seller than it is now.  I had a nightmare experience a couple of years ago with a buyer who opened a "not as described" case on a high-value item (thousands of dollars) and claimed it wasn't as described due to a minor cosmetic issue.  It took months to resolve, with eBay/PayPal doing duplicate chargebacks and throwing up security blocks at every turn.  This was after they acquired PayPal, but hadn't really integrated it fully.  I've never sold anything on Amazon.

They're obviously paying the creators of this mind-numbing crap way too much.  Right, the first thing I'm checking-on before travelling is whether or not my data is backed-up.  ::)  I don't know what the relationship is suppose to be between the two twits in the commercial but the guy sounds like he was neutered quite some time ago.

This is really enlightening. I use ebay as a buyer, but haven't ever sold anything, although I'm in the process of scaling down and want to dispose of a lot of my unnecessary possessions. Now I'm wary of using ebay, after hearing these stories. I don't want to use craigslist because I don't want anyone coming to my door, naturally, so now I'm at a loss as far as venues for selling my things. Any ideas?

Oh, yeah. I started noticing this maybe five years ago. Every man in TV or radio commercials sounds neutered. They could all be poster boys for Low T.

Hahaha, ain't that the truth.  It's de rigueur for the man in commercials to appear either stupid or sissified, preferably both.  We are all "Noory's." ;)

I am sorry. That really, really sucks. I hope you can figure out how to get it back. My fingers are crossed for you.

Invest in an external this time.  Duplicate everything.  Hell, buy two and triplicate everything.  And keep a pile of flash drives somewhere.
