Ahoy George & the listeners (Kelley Sweeney)

Who's this Kelley Sweeney guy that comes on every so often to talk about the oil spill in MS or anything nautical related.

From what I gather he owns some sort of maritime employment agency- how does that qualify him to talk about oil spills?

He always does that stupid ass "well first of all George, ahoy to you and the listeners" the phrase ever changes.

haha, i'm so out of touch with what's happening on this show. if not for all of you, i would be oblivious to this stuff.

It's almost like a modern day version of the Keystone Kops, except it's on the radio and the Keystone Kops were actually funny & entertaining.

Yeah I'm also wondering about this. No one on the show seems to give him a decent introduction or explain who exactly this guy is.

Though it can't be any worse than having Richard C. Hoagland as a "science advisor".

Head him talking to Ian one night about modern piracy. He was pretty good.

To be honest I quite dig old Captain Sweeney. He doesn't mind dishing out the dirt on the oil companies and did a pretty good job during the oil spill of keeping us up to date with what was going on. I'm sure they said he has a long list of marine credentials, bla bla bla. Who cares

The "Ahoy" thing gets a bit annoying after a while though!

He was on with Ian Saturday night, before they got started Sweeney goes "First of all Ahoy Ian and the listeners, had to get that out of the way first, I get lots of great comments about it"

I suppose he's growing on me, but I thought he did a pretty good job Sat. night.
