Let's say healthcare is a basic human right.  We then have questions such as to what level?  Who decides who gets what?  Why would responsibility to deliver health care stop at our border in an impoverished world?  Do we have to let anyone into our country who needs medical attention, or claims to, and provide it to them?  Why aren't people responsible for providing for themselves on only this one aspect of life?

What about food, why isn't that also a basic human right?  What about shelter?  An income?  A car?  Education?  Clothing?  Entertainment?  Acceptance by others?  If any of these are also found to be basic human rights, at what level are we collectively required to provide them?  Who decides when these become ''rights'', because once one of them is successfully established as a ''right'', surely the others will follow?

Not being able to do everything isn't an excuse for doing nothing. We live in an imperfect world, and whatever we do will create its own set of problems. Your 'solution' is some form of social Darwinism and letting the chips fall where they may, but in an advanced Western society (which the US still is, just) you're basically electing to allow people to sicken and starve. You can take care of people, you just choose not to, and use that as justification for America's success - conveniently forgetting the US's natural advantages, and the fact that any sort of welfare state would not have been possible until fairly recently, in historical terms.

We weren't talking about any of that.  It was: is healthcare a universal human right, or not?  The answer is no, it isn't, universal human rights don't involve demands on others.

''Should'' we do what we can to help others?  Yes (especially those whose need is no fault of their own, imo).  Is that going to be legislated sometimes?  Apparently so.  But let's not get our terms confused based on emotionalism, especially when there is a worldwide movement to create a one-world, left-wing fascist dictatorship, and going along with such statements only helps them.  The UN declaring healthcare a basic human right is just one more step along their path.

Everyone has the right to healthcare. Obamacare isn't healthcare, it's a health insurance system. The US tax payer has provided health care for the less fortunate for decades. Medicaid, Medicare, all existed before unafforable care act. There are clinics, some free some paid. We had a small percentage of people who were uninsured, and a vast majority who were happy with their health insurance. So the democrats blew up the system, shockingly empowering themselves and their friends to run it, while of course exempting themselves from it. This is what government run healthcare has always been about. Empowering the tyrannical left.

Obamacare is a failure. Increased premiums between 300-500% so far, and they're going to continue to go even higher. NO ONES insurance costs went down. NO ONES insurance choices increased. People lost jobs, insurance, and healthcare because of it. A government healthcare system will NEVER succeed.

Once single payer goes in, the insurance costs will skyrocket. So the government will put in even larger price controls. Doctors will leave the business like they have been since Obamacare started. Because there will be no financial incentive to be a doctor. Controls will then be placed on pharmaceuticals, which will kill the development of new drugs as there will be no financial incentive to do it. Some doctors will go to the private systems that pop up that are reserved only for the most wealthy. These problems are all inevitable in a government run healthcare insurance system. The government does not exist to be efficient or turn a profit. It exists to spend as much money as it possibly can to sustain itself. Just look at the failed public education industry. This is why socialism and communism have failed every time they were tried in the history of the planet. They exist to empower tyrants.
