That didn't really answer the question. Do you see yourself as a sheep, or are you the only one who is thinking for themselves?  Are all of the people who agree with you independent thinkers while those who disagree are unthinking sheep?

Stop trying to make this personal and just try to keep up with at least the mainstream news that you seem to be defending. Wikileaks happened. It's not a conspiracy theory. It's news, just not the fake kind you're obviously used to being spoon fed. So, either have something more original to say about things other than <snicker, I'm so much smarter than everyone else> or fuck off! No one really cares.  :D

Interesting... It is only too bad that you chose to quote a biased, fake media source rather than somebody a little more trusted like Alex Jones.

If we take the numbers at face value, I can say that the increase to veterans affairs is nice to see.  On the cut side- some of them seem quite steep, but I am one of those people who for years has said that most western governments really do have to cut and that we are on an unsustainable path... This makes it hard to criticize them, even if I find them a little steep and targeted towards some programs that I might think are more important than their funding would indicate.  Tough decisions have to be made (not only by the US, but by all western governments) if we don't want to collapse in the next couple of decades even if they are unpopular.

What do think of the increase in defense spending vs. the cut to the State Dept. and CIA?

Yup.  I know that you generally rise above making anything personal, and I apologize for dragging you down into the mud.  I certainly should have just accepted your criticism of my personality and not questioned yours.  ;)

You're so full of shit. Well, at least you think you're funny and that's all that counts.  :-\

I know you'll go stumbling for google and wikipedia when I ask you this but you guys got your own constitution back in the 80s. I've never met a Canadian who knows ANYTHING about it or can quote me one line from it. Things are quite different here. From stupid to smart most at least know something of it here and consider it an integral value to their lives. What do you value and hold true besides sarcasm? OK, scurry along so you can "prove" to me that you actually know something about your own constitution now.  ;D

I think that if western countries are going to continue to engage in conflicts, they had better be prepared to back it up... And that means ships, planes, and drones- all hard costs, which cannot be reduced or avoided.  The others have (I believe) seen quite substantial increases in their budgets over the last decade.  I cannot comment if they are bloated and in need of a trim or if they require a bump in their budgets.

This is something that can also be adjusted going forward IF there is somebody in power who will look at the results of the budget and consider if it was too aggressive in one direction or the other.  It requires trust that those making decisions would be open to admitting that they made a mistake (and we all know that politicians are quick to take responsibility and admit fault.)  ;)

Which of us is cognitively challenged?  What the hell does my constitution have to do with the US budget?  I actually thought that this might have been one of the few places where we agreed.  In essence, I am saying that Trump made the correct call in reducing some of the budget.  Are you upset that we cannot disagree on that an now must talk constitution?

To answer your question, yes... I have read through it.  I also keep a small printing or the Canadian charter or rights and freedoms on my bookshelf.  You are aware that the first constitution act was 1867, right?  (the 100 year anniversary was the last of the actual silver coinage, and an interesting year for the mint.)

So, what do you think of the US proposed budget (in relation to the Canadian constitution)?

***So that you do not think that I am ignoring what will, undoubtedly be a well thought out and intelligently composed post avoiding the personal attacks that you so abhor- I'm off to sleep.  Catch you tomorrow.

You read it but don't say what you think of it or what you value about it. You don't quote any of it. Call me skeptical now. I'd rather not waste my time with someone who's obviously just trolling. I haven't had a chance to review the budget yet. I suppose I'll weigh-in about it eventually though. Stay tuned!

Trump budget: Defense spending a priority over agency money

President Donald Trump is unveiling a $1.15 trillion budget, a far-reaching overhaul of federal government spending that slashes a dozen departments to finance a significant increase in the military and make a down payment on a U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Thursday's scheduled budget release will upend Washington with cuts to long-promised campaign targets like foreign aid and the Environmental Protection Agency as well as strong congressional favorites such as medical research, help for homeless veterans and community development grants. - Associated Press

Tell you what, Doc.  My teeth are brushed and I'm ready for bed.  I kind of feel the same way about typing up an essay that would be due in high school for a stranger on the net known for trolling and who generally appears to blow off posts.

So, you type up what you value about your constitution and what it means to you.  In response, I will take the time to type up a post about the Canadian constitution, putting in equal effort this evening.

You might notice that I mentioned I keep a copy of the rights and freedoms. If you are familiar with the constitution, you will recognize that as a part of it.  That might give you some indication of what I consider important.  Yes, there is more- but that is the part that I always find interests me as we (the world) moves towards a police state where the individual no longer retains their rights.

Night night doc.  Sorry that I don't care to waste my time for your amusement.  You can read the amendment to the post above to see what I most value.  I have to assume that you were not aware that the charter of rights and freedoms was a part of the constitution- or it may have been self-evident. (pun intended.)

Please feel free to put some effort into your posts if you expect that out of others.  Otherwise, it just feels like a waste of time and effort to perform as your circus monkey typing out your high school assignment.  ;)

*** It is odd.  If I actually thought that we could have an intelligent conversation about it, I would love to spend the time.  I just figure that I will get your usual dismissive snark, and cannot be bothered to put in much effort.

Like nationalizing healthcare?

Is it? I don't thnk it is. Even Trump said "No-one knew how complicated healthcare was" . Presumably he thinks other than him. But then again, he is a self aggrandising narcissist, so its to be expected he'd say that.

But as long as you have insurance companies runnng the show (and their CEO's stand to make even more money under Trump), what makes you believe the USA won't pay far more for healthcare than any other developed country but have lower life expectancies, higher infant mortality and penury for many for routine medical procedures. And under Trump, it will only get worse. Much worse.

Trump tells Fox News when asked, where he got evidence Obama tapped hs phones.
Quote

President Trump on Wednesday indicated that he had no solid evidence to support his declaration that former president Barack Obama ordered surveillance on his phones at Trump Tower in New York during last fall's campaign.

Trump said he based his accusation, which he leveled March 4 in a series of tweets, on a couple of news reports referencing wiretapping generally.

“I've been reading about things,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Channel. Trump said that after noticing an article in the New York Times and commentary by Fox anchor Bret Baier, Trump said he told himself, “Wait a minute, there's a lot of wiretapping being talked about.'”

In other words he read 'the failing' NYT and decided a story he read (which actually wasn't directed at him) was about him, because its all about him and decided to spin a story to tweet about Obama. He never takes notice of 'fake' news though, so that's a relief.  ::)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/03/15/trump-defends-obama-wiretapping-charges-predicts-very-interesting-items-to-be-revealed/?utm_term=.1c59e93be4be
Quote
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who was a member of Trump's transition team, said Wednesday that there was no evidence that Trump Tower was wiretapped while Trump was a candidate. He told reporters that if Trump's tweets were taken literally, then "clearly the president was wrong."

No shit Sherlock!!

Quote
[Trump, citing no evidence, accuses Obama of ‘Nixon/Watergate’ plot to wiretap Trump Tower]

Carlson pointed out that, as president, Trump had the ability to “gather all the evidence you want.” Trump acknowledged, “I do,” but proceeded to explain that he fired off his tweets because he had seen Baier use the word “wiretap” on his broadcast a day earlier. ;D

“What he was saying and what he was talking about and how he mentioned the word 'wiretap,' you would feel very confident that you could mention the name,” Trump said. “He mentioned it. And other people have mentioned it.”
;D
Asked whether he “devalues his own currency” by tweeting things that are not true, Trump defended himself.

“Let's see whether or not I proved it,” Trump said. “You looked at some proof. I mean, let's see whether or not I prove it. I just don't choose to do it right now. …* I think we have some very good stuff, and we're in the process of putting it together, and I think it's going to be very demonstrative.”

Yeah, but at least the nuclear weapons will be more destructive. Whatsamaddawidyou?

And the State Dept is being cut right back too; after all why have diplomacy with people who know how the world works when you can just launch nuclear missiles on countries who don't see the world like Trump does in any given hour?
