RC Daddio,  This is the damnable misery in all this...terrible choices we must make while coming to the realization that we may well be a generation that hands off a much shittier situation to our kids than we received.  It is so shameful what we have become as a country, as a collective people.  Still, we must be hopeful.  Hope we make the right choices.  Hope we can turn things around.
I have sympathy for many Republican voters, but not the party.  They brought this on themselves.  A couple of editors at the Washington Post hit the nail on the head four years ago:

"The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.

When one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the country’s challenges."

Trump will almost certainly not only lose the general, but also cost the Republicans the Senate and the House.   He might very well end the party as we know it.  Apparently, folks on the left and right agree this is a good thing.

I'd be salty too if I had invested into an ideology and party that has been failure for the last 30 years only to have a reality TV star show up and shatter it all into pieces. Fortunately I'm just a WWE aficionado who's going to go with the best choice presented to me, so I feel great. They also misspelled aficionado in that brilliant prose you're talking about. Low IQ cultists indeed.

I thought maybe Ventura would run on the Libertarian ticket.

I don't understand why some people are upset about Cruz withdrawing.  We have been told for months that Trump wouldn't get the nomination.  We have also been told for months if he does it guarantees democratic victory.  I'm not quite sure why Trump haters are so upset, doesn't this mean Hillary or Bernie are guaranteed a win?  According to all the experts Trump can't possibly become president.
Exactly, all the experts had him not winning the nomination also. That is why Billary, the illegals, and the communists are worried- even if they say they aren't and wanted Trump as the adversary. Billary has double-worry because she has her own problems internally within the Party and on the left, in general.

I've been an Independent most of my voting life.  I recently re-registered as Republican so I could vote in the Colorado Primary.  Guess what happened there? >:(

I wonder whether I can un-re-register (is that a word?) to my Independent status again.

Well, there are a lot of folks who predicted this to be the case.  A Trump/Clinton contest, Trump eventually flames out, Hillary rides the wave to the Presidency, Dems take the Senate and House.

I'm not sure if/how the Libertarian Party is working these days but I've seen claimed McAfee, Gary Johnson, and I think a few others are running, not sure if they actually will get on any ballots but, presumably, you could write-in. Of course, there is also Zoltan Istvan Gyurko, the transhumanist candidate running on that Party's ticket!

HAHA, so they did.

I just get a kick out of the all the Trumpists who think that a bitterly divided Republican party bodes well for his chances in a general election.  Trump Republicans remind me of this:

I heard Zoltan on Clyde Lewis one night.  Funny man.  And, yeah, I'd vote for him.  He couldn't do any worse. ;) ;D

The party has become all about God's will. One could say the path has always been to pursue theocratic governance. It's just another power and submission game that's been played throughout the history of politics.

As I recall it, Trump couldn't be bothered to learn how the process worked in Colorado.  I really don't understand how anyone else is to blame for his own fecklessness.

Sucks for those who wanted to be heard, though.

I heard differently, but it doesn't matter now.

And, yes, you are so right.  It does suck not to be heard!

And worse the Party who apparently insists that the path is the "mob will," and you should physically attack people, jump  borders illegally, shut down schools and public throughfares because someone is saying something you disagree with or adherence to some leftist political philosophers- or the "path" is the same corporate interests as some of the mainstream Republicans, depending on who they pick. Which is why I like Trump and Bernie- shaking it up. In the ideal world there would be no Parties and people who vote based on qualifications, loyalty to the country, education, experience, or whatever. Or, even better, the Feds lost so much power and power was returned more to the States, local communities, and people.

They're getting the fear..............  [if article is not B.S.  :P]

If Hillary wins I will bet that Texas gets a million signatures to secceed within her first week in office.

You're assuming most Trump supporters were Republicans six months ago or even now. Again, I don't see why it's a bad thing to purge the trash and burn to the ground one of the worst political parties in American history. America needs to be a multi-party nation. The Republicans have been nothing but the Washington Generals to the Democrats' Harlem Globetrotters for the last eight years after eight years of one of the worst Presidents in history after eight years of wondering how the President is getting his dick wet after twelve years of shattering the economy and removing the checks and balances in our society. Fuck the Republican Party.

If Trump wins the presidency I hope most political cartoons switch to color.  You need the color contrast between his teeny pink puffy eyes in that vast expanse of orangeness.

Some are already trying to get in on the ballot now, regardless. Though for most it is more a protest vote and not serious but some are seriously for it. Once again the "mainstream" NE Republican-types are complaining it makes us look bad. Haha. Obama's FBI has even been raiding political meetings
http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Feds-raid-Texas-secessionist-meeting-6096637.php
I think it would be great if there was some kind of "devolution" because the Federal government, and their agencies, have too much power and centralizing that much power in a few key positions has made it very easy for large banking and corporate interests, foreign nation's lobbys, etc buy them off. Reducing power will reduce corruption and also result in more "democracy" because you're vote will actually matter. And leftists should like it because it would result in less foreign wars and allow States/areas to make laws that they like (California could legalize any sex act, regardless of age or "identified" gender, ban guns, have complete confiscation of wealth and redistribution, and throw open their border, Texas could say that illegal immigration is illegal, a grown man shouldn't be able to "self-identify" to gain access to some middle-school girls locker-room, and people should be able to have guns, etc.) Some things, like self-defense, etc could still exist nationally (not that we do it now, if the Federal government and most politicians really cared the first thing they would do is not defend borders in other countries but defend ours.)

That's what the political class said six months ago.

By the way, conservative pundit Ben Shapiro is losing his mind and it is one of the funniest things I've witnessed.

I know no one cares, but I just want to say I'm not trying to shit on you folks for liking Trump. Well, I did shit on you, but I am just so frustrated with the guy. It's pretty wild, because no one really affects me the way he does. There are so many things about him that I just abhor. I guess I got to get used to it huh? haha... Clinton is not the right choice. Fuck it. Give the guy a chance I guess. Congress will keep him in check I figure. I do like Newt Gingrich. If he is VP, I figure he too will keep the bloated waterhead Trump in check. I just worry...

The circus midget was up there with Milo as an icon for the new conservative movement and burned it all down turning into what he claimed to abhor over some irrelevant chick. His downfall has been epic. Does being a 5'3 male really make you that hard up? He's on the board that cannot be named yelling at clouds right now.

Dude, I get it.  The GOP is in flames.  Huzzah!

But you are seriously fucking delusional if you think the people fleeing the flames with their hair on fire are going to pause at the ballot box to vote for the arsonist.  The Democrats could run the foetid corpse of Dick Nixon against this guy and still win in a landslide.
