I know 2 families that lost their houses to gambling addiction. My friends dad is disabled has a bad back and don't work. So he sits around while his wife works her ass off then took her money and gambled it. Some times he would win $10,000 but he had to roll $8,000 to win it. Of course he didn't see it that way he would tell everyone he won $10,000. Then when tax time came he found out he had to pay taxes on all the money he won even if he turned around and lost it again. Gambling addiction is some bad shit.

I played scratch off lottery 3 times, first time i played i won $2. So i took the $2 and bought two more scratch offs and lost it and that was the last time i ever gambled lol.

You can deduct gambling losses up to the amount you won. But you need receipts.
