I noticed last night Wells added to his "mothership" metaphor by labeling his phone lines for callers "astrolines" - like saying lets go now to astroline #3 :D

Astrolines???

"...Ehro?"

I don't know any voiceover guys. I know of some voice actors. Fair enough. It explains how he managed to fool premrat.

And yet you keep listening, week after week. You can't stop can you?  It is an insanity.

Thank you for your kind concern, Slipstream, but it's an affliction I share with many on this board.

Actually, I only sometimes listen in for the first of the show, always hoping this will be the night Wells has a Come- to-Jesus moment and starts acting like the pious Christian he pretends to be.

Never takes me long, though, to pull myself together and click the dial to sweet silence. Mea culpa.  :-\

The thing I took away from that show was that Wells addressed the question of whether he uses any electronic voice modulation.  I missed what he was responding to, so have to assume he was talking about his voice, but in any case he said the mike had no electronic modulation and attributed the deepness to the nature of AM radio signals.  I usually listen to an internet feed from an FM station, so not sure if that applies.

The only station that carries Coast here is FM, so I've never heard Wells on AM.  His rumbly voice sounds so full of mucous it makes me want to gargle.  ???

A couple of points - those of you who classify Wells as a right-wing nut should consider this show.  He's attacking a corporation.  I don't think he's either right or left wing. ...

I went back and made myself re-listen to the first part of Wells version of the Angelina Jolie/Myriad Genetics issue, because I knew what I heard (before I was distracted from listening further) struck me as another attack on the government.

Wells brought in someone named Mike Adams who calls himself a "Health Ranger."  Wells asked him to explain how "not billions, but trillions of bucks" are at the heart of Angelina's decision to have her breasts removed.  Adams started right into a  "corporate interests own your DNA" rant.  Wells interrupted him and told him to "slow down," so everyone could understand exactly who owned everyone's DNA.  That was the cue for Adams to remember to not JUST blame the corporations.  He then said, and I quote, "The U.S. government ultimately claims 100% ownership over your genes because it claims the right to hand out ownership via the patent office to corporations who apply for patents on your genes."

Et voila, the connection to the upcoming Supreme Court decision on whether or not the government has the right to own our genes as Wells claims.

I could be wrong, but I think Wells will always blame our government for everything from corporate greed to a movie star's breast removal. To me that put hims him squarely into the realm of the very extreme right-wing.

Myriad has made a fortune. That is all well and good. But at the same time they have broken the scientific process. They do own the methods to diagnose the BRCA1 and 2 gene, BRCA (BreastCAncer), is a gene that produces a protein that is supposed to repair the dna chain. But since Myriad owns it, other testing agencies are unable to test for it. Which stops second opinions or verification. This is definately corporations in bed with politicians.

Luckily for Angelina Jolie, she can afford the test which, for complete testing, is over $3000.

Sorry to derail... this wells guy seems like a nut.

I heard it reported (CNN I think) that Myriad does provide low- and no-cost BRCA testing based on ability to pay and when under a physician's advice.

I finished listening to Friday's ... um ... "show."  It was disgusting.  Absolutely disgusting.  And absolutely ridiculous.

It's really hard to even go into specifics, like the claim that no one was killed at Sandy Hook.  Just despicable.

It's seriously making me think of starting a blog along the name "Coast Watch" where this kind of stuff is discussed in as calm but poignant a way as possible.  Anyone interested?

I always appreciate your input, Onan.  I feel like I have conveyed my point poorly as I was referring back to posts here that suggested Wells wouldn't be blaming a corporation unless he leaned to the left (which incredibly seems to remain at issue for some).  I do understand that corporations and politicians sleep together nightly.  Wells just enjoys making sure he drags in his usual suspects anytime he can.  Really punched my buttons when he did.

Angelina and her test she did to remove her whatever is the most lifeless, boring story I have ever heard in quite awhile. Only covered by media because it sounds hip to talk about it. When this is front page news it just goes to show what slow news days are really about.

It is potentially more dangerous than Alex Jones because he projects a calm demeanor. I think this makes people more apt to give him a chance and make him seem more "credible" for whatever reason. The good thing is, you'd save a lot of time because for every insane conspiracy theory video, there is at least one that refutes the conspiracy with logic/facts.

Also, I am sure you already know, but almost every one of his shows are selling points for his website caravantomidnight.com I know all hosts plug their own things but it just seems uncanny that he sells the cure to the world's ailments (through his eyes) on his site. Whether it is just a political doom and gloom to actually having the manufacturer of a product on the site on to talk about his product. Edit: After viewing his site his selection has dropped from a lot of survival gear to just radiation detectors and water filtration systems. Having worked for a company that was required  that any water exiting the company's plant be X times cleaner than the actual drinking water, I can assure anyone those filtration systems are beyond overkill.

I'm not technically savvy but I'm absolutely in.  I will contribute in any way possible.  I've been bothered by a lot of the nonsense for awhile now.

Your idea is to specifically target instances of erroneous or unsupported claims on the show?

Johnny B Wells... sending love.  now that was some hippy shit right there DADDDY-O!!  Hmmm i feel the jive talk coming on... thats how the kids talk these days ya see? you tell em Johnny.

Maybe it's this guests' relentless voice, or maybe I'm just tired, but I can't seem to understand how she and she alone is going to save western civilization from complete and absolute financial collapse.

I tried to listen to that sickening windbag last night, I really did.  But there isn't enough Pepto Bismol in the world to get me through even an hour of John B.

Has he really been saying stuff about the government going rogue (or whatever) on us this summer?  What is the idiot saying is going to happen?

John B. Wells has a great radio voice, when I first heard him it reminded me of Art who I really miss. But Wells is just too conservative for me. I do not tune into Coast to Coast to hear religious right wing propaganda which Wells spews on a regular basis. He actually said that FOX news was the most accurate and trustworthy of the major news organizations. Everyone knows all of the major news channels are full of it, but FOX is by far the worst. Say what you will about Noory but at least he is smart enough to keep the political stuff out of most of the topics. My favorite host now is George Knapp, but no one will ever replace the great Art Bell.

I thought he actually tried to talk himself out of that by clarifying that it just seemed to him like they covered stuff more accurately ... so talking himself back into what we all heard him say.  That was another moment where I hurt my head by banging it.

That's one of my pet peeves with Wells.  He qualifies everything he says and in the past seemed to spend half his air-time trying to cover his ass.  I don't think he does that so much any more.  I do feel Wells is trying to grow into his position and I do hold out some hope for him.

As far as Fox News.  Yeah, George N has said some things before making me think that's where he gets his information as well.  It explains a lot if Fox is the primary news source that is shaping the direction of Coast to Coast and the views held by its hosts.

I could scarcely focus on it.  That guest wouldn't even let Wells speak at first.  He had to speak over her for about 20 seconds to finally get her to stop.  Whenever he tried to peg her down on something she would just give long, vague answers.

I had it on for about 15 minutes and turned it off. It was so bad that I just could not listen. I think Knapp is the best host now. The show is one whacko, right wing show. I cannot tolerate this any longer. Wells was not this way when he first came abourd the C2C show.

Thankfully the airwaves will not be polluted tonight by either Wells or The Nooron.

One of the problems with Wells is that the fallout from his show bleeds into other shows, like Knapp's Friday night show when he got the crazy Wells followers calling in. It seemed like Knapp got frustrated by the way the general conversation got hijacked during open lines and said so. He continued to take callers after he said he hoped the show would go in a different direction. That's what makes me resent Wells the most, that his paranoid special on Saturday nights is no longer confined to  Saturday nights.

I haven't listened to Friday's show.  What were people calling in with?
