Was Barbara Stanwyck's line to Gary Cooper "when he talked, people listened" in "Meet John Doe" an advertisement for E.F. Hutton or taken by them later? Their ad campaign was decades later but the firm was started before the movie.

I use these against pesky trespassers.

I cannot recommend enough.

I loved those things.  My neighbors cat didn't.  I didn't do it, they did in case you wonder.

I'll never forget the sight of my neighborhood friend's little brother Joel, running and flapping about their front yard, with one of those sunk deeply into the flesh of his armpit. There was an amazing amount of blood.  :o

That's the mark of quality in any kind of blade. A good blood grove let's everyone know just how much a craftsmen cares.

Very interesting piece of history declassified recently. The dogfight between two F-14 Tomcats and two Lybian MIG-23 Floggers. This took place in 1989. I remember it well.

Antenna TV's gonna start showing old Johnny Carson reruns, starting Jan. 1.  Which is cool, except it's gonna be on at 8pm PT, which is not.

The selection process for aircrew and controllers weeds out very quickly those who can't keep their cool in all battle situations. Few get through so the cream gets to the top. Interestingly in the vid there's a slight admonishment when the pilot (I thnk) is asking/demanding his back seat w/o tell him the targets altitude; "what angels is he?!! ). Navy pilots have a kudos that is respected by even the most cocksure airforce pilots. Though they wouldn't admit it.

A year or so ago a photographer (who contributes on another forum I'm on) had a fantastic photo printed in the national press of an RAF Typhoon pilot flying down the "Mach loop" in mid Wales waving to the photographer. Naturally the Daily Wail jumped on it and questioned how the RAF could employ such hooligans who found time to wave when they should be watching what they were doing!

It was pointed out in a typical laconic RAF 'come back when you have a fucking clue what you're talking about' reposte;  (paraphrasing ) Our pilots are selected and trained to fulfil a role that involves assessing and prioritising targets, and dealing with several aircraft functions simultainiously, if the pilot couldn't find time to wave at a photographer, he probably wouldn't be able to fulfil his or her role as aircrew. Lol.

Forced to lay off 45 of a staff of 70 production operators and management. Our largest customer could not compete against the demand for the lowest price, that being from China...

There is no unemployment insurance in China...you show up to the factory and continue to produce products for which there are no orders...the government pays for that which you cannot sell...then, that product is dumped on the world market...below the cost of any other competitor...

We will try to hold on as long as we can...but the constraints placed upon us by US law is dictated by the trade policies supported by our government, both Republican and Democrat...

You want to make a difference? Do as the Germans do, buy products made in your own country. It's rather simple, pay a little more for the US product, or pay more taxes for those who cannot find jobs...

Happy Holidays...be thankful for that which you have...

jeb can fix it.

So if one picture can sum up the Republicans can one sum up the Democrats?

It's like his face isn't sure which direction to face

I see what you mean. I think the right side of his face is facing left and vice versa, but his eyes I'm not sure about.

GravitySucks

I wonder how long before the ATF considers this a weapon.

Conversation earlier in life about people blowing you off (non-BJ) was asked:

"...well, how would you like to be blown off?"

Mind agape, was stymied...

Zen answer just came to me:  "Wouldn't like to be blown off?"

Not Sure, must meditate on answer.

That is all, Carry On.

Get some sleep.

Working towards that...

And it will be the kind of sleep where I'm out before my head hits the pillow.

Take care, and have a great day.

Apologies for the red herring earlier, YP!  Other thangs I read hear distracted me, and after the long day today it took a few seconds to recall what my original purpose tonight was...

Cheers!  and sweet dreams to the rest of you useless readers!

And I thought our Commonwealth cousins lived in peace and harmony...

Redheaded grandmother Angele Grenier doesn't look much like a criminal, but she is one of Canada's most wanted women.
And as such, she faces the likelihood of lengthy jail time, and fines of about 500,000 Canadian dollars ($368,000; £245,000).
Her crime?
She's a self-confessed smuggler and illegal dealer, someone who sells contraband across province lines.
But what exactly is she selling that has so incensed the Canadian authorities, and seen the police search her property? Drugs? Guns?

Nope, maple syrup - the lovely, sweet stuff that you pour on your breakfast pancakes, or add to your biscuit recipes.
