It is the most popular beer because it is the cheapest. I don't mind it but I'm not a huge beer drinker and when I do I'm a bit of a beer snob and prefer micro brewery fare or imported beers. Of the mainstream Australian beers I like Crown Lager which is brewed at a huge brewery about 15 minutes from my house.

I actually have never tried it nor have I ever seen it on tap in any pub I've ever been to.

Anecdotally it is meant to taste like kangaroo piss but I assume that is exaggerated. Kangaroo piss is actually quite refreshing.

I tend to drink bottled ale beers. Look up such as Speckled Hen from the Morland brewery, which you can get in the USA. Golden Hen, Speckled Hen, Crafty Hen and Hoppy Hen are four of their offerings. Over here we can get them on draught. Fosters, like a lot of alleged 'Genuine National tipples' is brewed here. I agree with Jaz, Kangaroo piss is better. Ahem.

We have a pretty well known brewery called Kelham Island in Sheffield. They do some lovely short run and not so short run beers. Pale Rider being just one. Lovely fresh finish to it.

I'm not over keen on imported beers which are usually lagers of various flavours though I am partial to a bottle of Nastro Azzuro, Italian, and known as 'Nasty'..Nice on a warm day.
