My friend wrote the following letter to try and get out of a parking fine.

... walk back to my car to place the items in my trunk and drive back to the main road. Assuming I did it at world record pace, it should have taken me 43.18 seconds not counting the time to place the items in my boot...

Perhaps he was actually fined for referring to his trunk as a 'boot', and the ticket didn't have a thing to do with the time limit..

I actually changed the first instance of boot to trunk for the American Bellgab audience but failed to change the second one. I often change my spelling and wording so as not to offend anyone in the predominantly gun toting American audience of Bellgab. :P

Yeah because "smoking a fag" or "taking a slash" is totally different to Yanks! ;D

If your friend had been ticketed in the US, and had questioned the meter reader on site, he would have been tased immediately.

Yeah, but in Oz and the UK it isn't yet an arrestable offence to take issue with a jobsworth. We're not civilised enough.

If you drive a car, you have most likely, at some time, violated some traffic code... pay up mf.

On my first day on my license I ran a red light. Fortunately no one was coming through on the green and no one witnessed it. It's like it never happened and I'm taking it to the grave. Shhh don't tell anyone.

The scariest thing I did (well one of them in a car) was when due to a great deal of rain fall the road I usually took to work was closed, and the detour was down rural roads I hadn't driven down in years. It included a featureless dead straight stretch about a mile long. At the time I had a Saab 9000, and the road was empty. I had vaguely remembered there was a cross roads somewhere, marked with 'Giveway' signs.

Anyway..I saw the sign less grey poles, a split second later it registered that they were the give way signs..Oh dear. I went over the junction at 60 mph, and looked to my right..empty..left...empty. On the other side I stopped and got out of the car shaking. I told my boss when I got to work and he thought it hilarious. It still makes me wince at what might have been.

Why has no one started a thread about The General in the General Discussion forum?

and you have not scanned them in and posted them?

They were posted in various threads. A few were quick sketches during live show threads. This was months ago.would take a while to go back to find them.

The symbol the Weather Channel uses for a hurricane looks like Meatwad from ATHF when he's dancing.

The General

I can't tell if everybody is way more aggressive lately or I just haven't slept for 6 months.

Tarbaby

You mean here or in the world around you?

Mostly just in my personal life.
A longtime friend just called me an asshole because I have different political views than he does.
I guess that cleared up whether he's my actual friend or not.

You may have to downgrade him to "associate."

I'm genuinely perplexed how mainly Americans judge each other as friends by their political persuasions. I haven't a clue what mine vote, nor do I care.

That's how I feel about it as well, unfortunately I'm learning that most of my friends on the left are increasingly turning on me.  I haven't changed a bit, and I'm not particularly outspoken about politics.  It's a new thing, I don't get it.  I would have thought that grown ass individuals would respect each other's points of view when they disagree without it effecting their friendship.

Tarbaby

Yes. T'was always thus.  But it does seem worse these days. It reminds me of how a thread here at BellGab (hope it's not "too soon" where a harmless newcomer was ravaged by a mob of angry locals. For really no reason that I could figure out.

It's the same here where I live.

Keep in mind these are the tolerant enlightened people and you are to be shunned for not being one of them

That's a shame, because you're a paragon of tolerance who never attacks or insults people because of their opinions.

All those years living in Berkeley, who do you think I learned it from?

By the way, in real life I'm pleasant and polite.  And choose my friends carefully.

Ditto. We must share the same Queen who we probably both care little about as well.

Where were you back in December?

No really, where were you? The police have some questions about a hooker, an umbrella and some very worn mittens.
