And they thought you owed your freedom to God. ;)

Well I happen to agree but that is very much a minority opinion these days.

"Freedom, Not License!" Not the book, of course. Though interesting read back when.

Licenses take all the fun out of it anyway.

With this I will retire to sleep, hopefully, stopping mulling the Biden-Commie-Joo-Trump-Satan plots against us. Recalling that the Apocalypse is just a revealing of good things- forgiveness, and times epic to manifest! ;D

Now I understand why the Doc backed away so fast! Sorry pal!

Not only backed away... But did so while maintaining eye contact.  ;)

To get back to the other topic. Quiet nights. It used to be nightcap that was probably the best overall for me. Nightcap would still be a close second. But I feel that the lighter touch of latakia allows everything to present balanced and shine through. The only thing is that it is a flake. So a little more work required to get it ready to smoke. But it would probably be my number one pick if you like English blends.

I'm even told that it is superior to skiff. Who needs those fancy imported blends that are always sold out?  :'(

Haha smart man!

Have you tried Ashton's Artisan's Blend?  I prefer it to either, and it is a lot easier to find.  Out of an abundance of sensitivity I will not mention Penzance here.

I have one morta pipe and it is extremely sturdy, as you say, but has always been impossibly hot, wet, and unpleasant for me.  I suppose it is natural that something sitting in a bog so long should not be as absorbent as very old sun-dried briar, but it was a disappointment.  Lovely pipe, though; a long blasted Canadian (though with a round shank which I think makes it a Lumberman? I forget) with a white ivory band.

I've heard good things about Nightcap WOTR. It's my understanding that it is to be taken literally, in the sense that you had better smoke it after dinner with a full belly, because it's quite heavy. That being said, if this Quiet Nights is a gentle version of Nightcap then I will definitely put it on my next purchase list.

I'm just going to get both, it's clearly for my own personal advantage. So long, as I'm updated with new enjoyable tobacco blends, from the both of you. -Cheers-

I love flake BTW.

Oh, good. Another one on the list to try. I will add it to my next order of "collectible tins." Superior to both nightcap and quiet nights? That is quite the claim.

It's interesting. I have two Moretti Morta pipes that are both very well behaved. That said, briar may be preferable in terms of availability, shape and weight. I think my preference is for meerschaum over any other medium. But it does not lend itself to being thrown about or stuffed in a bag. For just about any "day to day" the old standby briar can't be beat. But I feel as though the morta could double as a weapon or to smash storefront glass in the case any Antifa riots should break out nearby.

Nice choices. Good selection. I'm looking at some of the sites I order from and trying to put together an order as well. I have yet to try the Luxury twist flake. How do you find it?

I don't mean to be a snob or anything but.... Okay, I mean to be a snob.. I own 2 Savinelli: Roma (673 KS) (6mm).

One of the pipe stems is much tighter than the other however, it's the Matches860 version that is looser. Is it normal for duplicate pipe models to have slightly different dimensions? Have you experienced this?

Nice choices and and a nice shape. I don't own a Savanelli... These are the ones that use a balsa filter like Brighams use maple?

There can be some differences if they are not 100% machine made. Lots of manufacturers have lines that are either hand carved or hand finished and there can be some variance. Sometimes, they will change it a little to remove a sand pit or some other flaw and get back to good briar.

If the stem is too loose, a bit of beeswax will fix it. But usually a little use (and moisture) will naturally take care of it.

This is a possibility of what could be happening. Good to know, everything is still okay to burn though.

From what I'm finding online this is exactly why I'm experiencing the noticeable difference, I figured as much. Everything is machined, then the details are custom carved individually to completion.

Interesting take Ciardelo... You have to consider though, I haven't been here long enough to draw any real substantive conclusions about anyone. I have yet to encounter any real ridicule from anyone, so why would I flame anyone on here? Having different preferences or perspectives on things is hardly a reason to lambast someone, unless you're kidding of course. I prefer coming to my own conclusions about people through actual engagement with them, as apposed to someone else, drawing those conclusions for me.

Cool, cool. I just thought since you had been registered since April 22, 2017, you might have formed an opinion or two along the way.
