The "How do I create a web site?" thread

   I've been corresponding with MV about building some sites of my own. A lifetime ago, when I first got out of computer school, I used to do it with HTML. Nowadays, there are, of course, any number of site building packages, if you'll pardon the term, that make possible the construction of fully functional, interactive sites.

    The purpose of this thread is to solicit advice from those more experienced in modern site design and building for newbies like moi. Everything from recommending user-friendly site building programs to extolling the virtues of the mixed cocktails you imbibe while toiling away on your site is welcome. Me, I'm partial to melonballs. Assuming real grapefruits are available.

I am glad that you started this thread, but unfortunately I do not have a lot of info to offer.  I too, am wanting to start a website, and I am looking for someone to host it that is free or inexpensive.  There is a webpage up on my site, but it says bascially that it is under construction and has a nice picture on it.  Due to my day job work deadlines,I have not had time to research my webproject further.  It is a website to support my writing endeavors and perhaps other business projects under my website name.

Personally -- I find that wine or beer - or a softdrink with a small treat made with canabutter - to be good fortification for routine stuff - but need a clear head for the picky parts.
