     His Night Gallery episode was on MeTV a few weeks back as well. I'm sure they'll have a tribute to him very soon.

I need to start DVR'ing Night Gallery.  I'm usually passed out cold by the time it's on.  Thinking of the Columbo episode, his character whacked Anne Francis' character.  Nimoy, Francis, Falk.  All are missed.  Francis makes me think of Nielsen.  Bummer.

I saw Leonard Nimoy speak about peace many years ago at a protest over the Vietnam War.  His genuine kindness, eloquence, and intelligence was clearly evident.  May we all live long and prosper as he did.  Safe passage Mr.Spock.

As soon as found out this afternoon of this sad sad news. This is the first clip that I watched.  And I bawled like a fucking baby..  It was my own private memorial service for Leonard.  He was truely one of a kind.  I did not know the man. Only through interviews.  But this really felt like you lost a favorite uncle.

I got a bulletin from the BBC during lunch. I pushed away from table and went back to my office and shut the door. I changed my avatars on all my social media sites to an image of Spock from TOS. Posted a couple memorable quotes and offered my own thoughts regarding his passing. And surprised myself at how misty my eyes got.

I would guess for someone who came up during the sixties and seventies who didn't go to church and wasn't part of sectarian household the character of Spock was probably the most Christ-like figure in the popular culture. If you went through your day thinking "what would Spock do?" you probably would come out okay. Maybe I'm over stating things but here in the Wasteland lots of people have no culture except what was on TV. That's less so now thanks to the Internet but once upon a time the broadcast TV was a huge influence. The idiot box. Spock (and Nimoy) did a lot to reverse that and raise the bar. Roddenberry also deserves praise here for being a visionary.

In the late 60's as Star Trek was supposedly cancelled after the 2nd season. Nimoy was on his way to south Florida to do a guest gig on some game show that was produced down there. He made a call to the Melbourne, Florida airport tower and told them to inform the Florida Institute of Technology there that he was going to drop by for a visit  to the students that had mounted a letter writing campaign to save Star Trek from the cancelling. An hour later he arrived and in the hour we had we managed to get word out and filled to standing room only the auditorium. He was a great extemporaneous speaker too and he announced to us that the show was saved for a 3rd season. He was great ,funny and genuinely happy . He was amazed we had managed to overfill the auditorium with such short notice with so many more than the student population would indicate.

First post ever on this thread, but have to pay my respects to Mr. Nimoy.  His brilliant depection of the conflicted half Human / half Vulcan Mr. Spock, was a big influence on me as a kid.  I think of his mind-meld with the Horta creature in "Devil in the Dark", his pondering of clouds in my all-time fave episode "This Side of Paradise", and to me the most memorable moment of the entire series, in "Amok Time" where he briefly broke Vulcan stoicism upon realising his friend James Kirk was alive and says "Captain" ... then "Jim!".  Just friggin awesome.

(Not to mention his great series "In Search Of" that enthralled me, and inspired me to dive into mysteries, and encounter the unknown, which I continue to this day.)  Thanks for all the memories Leonard.  Thanks a million.
