I generally, like him, but would point that that, technically, it is all predicted-both physically and Biblical(s.) Maybe biological. haha, depending on one's beliefs or choices/will. I guess. Not really, maybe! But, easier to consider them that way? The odd thing about us is approach (try) but order doesn't come out well and reverts to chaos because a fallen world and pride.

I was going to jokingly advocate for private owned nursing homes as Blackrock has unlimited funds to take care of grandma and is likely engaged in ownership as a way to give back to the individuals who they have spent decades sucking the life out of...

Here is a touching story out of Dorval, Quebec where a real estate company owned a long term care home... "Local health-care officials first arrived on March 29 and found a lot of staff had deserted the facility, leaving many residents lying in soiled beds without having been fed. Two patients died soon after the intervention and at least five of the deceased patients were confirmed to have COVID-19."

Yes, 5 out of the 31 dead had Covid. One wonders if possibly leaving the others laying in their feces without water or food may have contributed to the other deaths.

Here is what Canada's bought and paid for government propaganda outlet had to say about our very successful campaign to kill our unproductive seniors...

"Canada has the worst record for COVID-19 deaths in long-term care homes compared with other wealthy countries... The study found that the proportion of deaths in nursing homes represented 69 per cent of Canada's overall COVID-19 deaths, which is significantly higher than the international average of 41 per cent."

Most nursing homes in Canada are not privately run. But there is probably around 10 or 15% that is. It still leaves a piss poor response by our public health care system that left seniors marinating in their urine while allowing staff to travel between infected facilities and others because they were working 2 or 3 jobs.

So yeah. Dore is correct that private companies may be some of the worst offenders trying to squeeze a profit out of seniors. But what ultimately matters is how a government or society values seniors. I would say that we have demonstrated remarkable well that in Canada, we don't give a shit if they die neglected in a corner. (As far as I know, there were no charges brought in the case of the nursing home whose staff abandoned their patients when the virus hit.)

QuoteCaught on Tape: Doug Mastriano Prayed for MAGA to 'Seize the Power' Ahead of Jan. 6

A week before Jan. 6, on a Zoom call organized by far-right Christian Nationalists seeking to reinstall Donald Trump in the White House, a man with a booming baritone voice bowed his bald head and began to pray. "We remember the promises of old," he said, before invoking the book of Revelations and its account of the End Times: "We know we overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony and not loving our lives unto death."

Quite.

It's got me thinking about potential mediation between the ever widening gulf between political factions these days. I think maybe it comes down to a number that is reflective of the level of socialism we're willing to accept before people feel encroached upon by it. Obviously, if that number is 50% or greater we're in danger of losing our rights and freedom to it so the number would have to be smaller than that but what? 25-30% socialist?

It might depend on how you 'spin' it. For example most people, at least at some point, have been married or had parents and one could consider the family 'socialist.' Certain people earn the income and it is redistributed to others. It could also be viewed in a capitalist way, an 'investment' in that in old age your children, hopefully by that time successful, can help take care of the parents. Or viewed legalistically with certain contractual 'duties' between wife and husband and likewise duty to care for children, and then, ideally, a duty for care once aged.

What utter horseshit, the Supreme Court just wiped out a 50-year right and freedom to abortion for real and you are worried about some vague hypothetical?  What if one of those wide variety of women you love so much has a little oops and suddenly you owe owe owe?

I think that Illinois had, perhaps, found the best solution. Using "the purge" as a template, they have managed to almost guarantee that the abortion debate will die. Hard to worry about such things while you are living in the dystopia that Chicago will become.

I can now kidnap you, get caught, then move into your basement and they can only fine me. Then I can set the house on fire and "accidentally" kill you while I'm high and I will still be out by dinner to stalk your widow.

Seems like the politicians are declaring open season. (Also, I really think that I'm beginning to feel more at home with my avatar.)

The latest thing panicking people here is hoodlums taking over intersections and doing donuts for hours like southern California, with no police response, getting in fights and shooting each other -- I can hear one such event out the window now, in fact, minus the gunshots so far thankfully  :o

Probably a good thing that the police were defunded? I'm sure that a community diversity worker will stop around once she clocks in for work around noon tomorrow to take your statement and berate your for not being more accepting of the misguided youths... Your white privilege is showing, Dubb.   :P

I think it was making them take the Dread Caccine that dulled their martial instincts, in the old days the police just showed up in their cruisers and ran them over.

It is an actual concrete example of a deeply personal right taken away, and you are worried about somebody maybe possibly putting a tentative limit on how many bulliets you can shove in your gurn, or whether you can say the n word without consequences.  I told you, I don't like abortion either but what made it a right is that you could get one without consulting your neighbors' opinions on the matter, and now that is gone.

What about the baby's rights? And where did I say anything about guns? You leftist assholes are always just making up your own facts to suit your narrative. It's pathetic.

Roe actually spent a lot of time discussing the baby's rights, allowing regulation of abortion after the first trimester and full-on bans after the second because the baby had rights the states could choose to protect, which seems pretty reasonable.  People think Roe was abortion on demand at any time but it was not.

Abortion was never a right. If liberals hadn't kept pushing their luck with late-term, post-term and children getting abortions without their parents knowledge this would have never happened. I am pro choice but liberals pushed the limits of murder and found out.

Abortion during the first trimester has been a right for 50 years.  The limit-pushing was in liberal states whose abortion rights are unaffected by the Court's decision; they will keep up the horrors because they are protected by state law.  It's people in red states who got punished.  Nice job you guys.

That's great, for now.  But overturning Roe/Casey showed how weak precedent is now, no matter how much lip service justices pay to it during their confirmation.

Next big Dem congress maybe with a weakened Trump-split R party they will pack the court either by impeachment or expansion, Roe is the exact excuse they need.  Rs shot their wad on abortion, an issue nobody really cared about except religious zealots.  When the retribution comes, the three new blue-haired obese tranny justices the Dems install will not stop there, they will grab all the gurns with their disgusting chubby fingers and eat them.

So you're okay with girls who being the victims of rape and incest and women being raped made to give birth? You're okay with women who have miscarriages being unable to clear the feotus because guess what; The same drugs used for abortions are used in treating miscarriages too. How are you on the general ownership of women by christo fascists dressed up as legislators? I thought GOP were anti big government? Seems they are but will make an exception to control what women can and can't do with their own bodies. How about if men were forbidden to ejaculate because of all that sperm murder? Unfair?

The irony is they're so pro life up to the point of birth, then hey baby, you're on your own. Affordable childcare while your mother goes to work? Forget it. Been the victim of poverty? Tough. School can't put books in the library through fear of upsetting the Proud Boys who will burn them anyway? Those are the breaks.
I shouldn't complain about this fascist Supreme Court inspired 'agenda' because it will lose the election for the trumpers. And who will they blame then?
