Speaking of mental images, Red. While listening to your call in on Spec Sheet episode SEP 09 2014, I kept thinking how funny it would have been if you had pretended getting shocked by your computer, screamed, then said nothing for several seconds.

"Well, I do see a little arcing going on in there, Curtis.  I think I can tighten that connection.....  ..... OH MOTHER OF Gaaaaw...."  (silence)

Ah!  I missed a golden opportunity there.  The price I pay for multitasking horse porn and The Spec Sheet.

spec sheet chatroom. i turned off the joins/parts part way through. thats what it looks like when that is done. it stays that way until you change it back ,not until next time you join, not until windows update makes you reboot, forever, unless you change it.
its in the /options dialog. i also turned off the autovoice thing too. apparently no need for that.

And yet the Blackberry Passport 2.0 will be truly revolutionary and NOT look like a Texas Instruments Scientific Calculator:

(I would normally get paid the big bucks for coming up with this ad page, but you guys are getting it for free. I love you THAT much. It's not about the money. It's about the quality. ((print that!)) )

Behind the scenes at Google?  Fascinating.

Goats... see?

Listening to Jasmine beat up MV on SEP 22 2014 Spec Sheet.

It's quite hilarious.

That's what you get when you make a kid.

Messiah or Anti-Christ? Comedian or Terrorist? Distraction or Pint-Sized Podcaster?

When she's sixteen, MV will be completely obliterated.

I went ahead and performed a remote viewing session, as I am one of the lucky twelve who studied with a twenty-two tape remote viewing kit packaged in limited edition red clamshell VCR cases - personally put together by Major Ed Dames, down to the special "Galaxy 2000" stickers on each red case.  Each case sealed with a hologram, numbered 01 thru 22. I could go on and on about this wondrous set. It's gorgeous. A lot of star field art all way 'round.

After a serious session, a visual emerged that can't be denied.  I can't be sure of the year, as I can't see year numbers nor winning lotto numbers nor dates.  Only ambiguous locations and people. In this case, I would say that it is more than adequate. It should be noted, I have a very high hit rating.

I believe, that on some level, MV knew this was the future. It explains the choice of the not so sublimated "Jasm(ach)ine gun" as her name.

This is Jasmine, about twenty-five years from now.

Remote viewing never lies, for it cannot:

‘Cloaking’ device uses ordinary lenses to hide objects across range of angles

Inspired perhaps by Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak, scientists have recently developed several waysâ€"some simple and some involving new technologiesâ€"to hide objects from view. The latest effort, developed at the University of Rochester, not only overcomes some of the limitations of previous devices, but it uses inexpensive, readily available materials in a novel configuration.

http://www.rochester.edu/newscenter/watch-rochester-cloak-uses-ordinary-lenses-to-hide-objects-across-continuous-range-of-angles-70592/

as a bonus: it includes instructions on how to build your own.

Ubuntu Touch finalized, first phones coming this year
The Ubuntu Edge smartphone campaign never reached its lofty $32m goal , but the more than $12m in pledges it received was record-breakingâ€"and Canonical hasn’t given up. Ubuntu Touch for phones just hit “release to manufacturing” status. The first official version is done, bugfix’d, and ready to go. It’s coming on real phones, too, with the first phone with Ubuntu Touch shipping this December.

cant be any worse than windows phone , right?

Thanks for the show guys.

Is it just me, or does the mobile experience of listening via ufoship.com, through the plugin, shitty in that you can't easily pause and resume?  I know I can download the show, but I rarely do.   Just curious..

For the live show, we want people real time in the chat room. If the chat room player is what you mean.

area51drone

No, I never listen live.   I'm talking about the player for all the old shows.

Apple patches “Shellshock” Bash bug in OS X 10.9, 10.8, and 10.7
Apple has just released the OS X Bash Update 1.0 for OS X Mavericks, Mountain Lion, and Lion, a patch that fixes the "Shellshock" bug in the Bash shell that we first reported on last week. Bash, which is the default shell for many Unix and Linux-based operating systems, has been updated two times to fix the Shellshock remote exploit bug, and many Linux distributions have already issued updates to their users.

hen installed on an OS X Mavericks system, the patch upgraded the Bash shell from version 3.2.51 to version 3.2.53, something that users could already do manually if they were so inclined. The update requires the OS X 10.9.5, 10.8.5, or 10.7.5 updates to be installed on your system first. An Apple representative told Ars that the company would not be releasing an individual patch for users running the current OS X Yosemite developer or public beta builds, but the rep went on to say the bug will be fixed in future builds of the software. The company previously stated that Macs "are safe by default and not exposed to remote exploits of bash unless users configure advanced UNIX services." Non-jailbroken iOS devices shouldn't be vulnerable to the exploit at all.

how often have we heard that "___ shouldnt be vunerable to _____ bug/exploit"  only to have some malware exploit that bug hours to  weeks later.

Microsoft dev here, the internal rumours are that early testing revealed just how many third party products that had code of the form

if(version.StartsWith("Windows 9"))
{ /* 95 and 98 */
} else {
and that this was the pragmatic solution to avoid that.

What are your impressions of Win-tin-tin?  I wish I could run everything on my UNIX box but some things (Cakewalk Sonar) only run on Windows.

b_dubb

I think MS didn't want to have to deal with a Windows NEIN! meme

Yeah but isn't that still windows - it's just running within a linux container, right?  Doesn't it get confusing?

I've tried dual-boot setups and always end up getting pulled back into dreaded WinBlah world.  Please give me hope.

virtualbox is a virtual pc. you fire up linux
you fire up virtual box
you actually install windows into virtualbox
you start up windows within virtualbox
windows is now running within a window.
this is a great solution for those that only need windows for a few programs (not games as most games need direct access to the  video card).
you can allocate resources needed like processor cores, memory etc.

I do run older versions of windows on M$'s virtual pc.   I suppose I could always install newer versions of windows the same way.
