hey Coyle and WOTR -- re the Columbine shootings... and since we all apparently go for conspiracy-related talk "radio" --  Tim Binnall had a guy named Zabel on with a radical version of the Columbine events, none of whose show date details I have in front of me now but I wanted to mention before the topic got lost and in case you want to look/listen.

I'll check that out. I enjoy conspiracies(or their concept) but feel Columbine was more mundane. That a mass shooting can be labeled mundane speaks volumes, but that's basically post-1966 America.

Hell, I'm old enough to remember when mass murderers names were remembered. Speck,Whitman, hell even up to Huberty. But nowdays it's like trying to remember the rosters of every NFL team. Each week seems to give us somebody who kills 4 or more.

Punnett and Knapp are average. Wells is bad. Noory is terrible. Art was great.

Agree with the comments about last nights show and Ian taking the guest off early. I thought the guest left on good terms, and Ian even talked about how interested he is in the followup show. I'm a fan of Punnet and once again I don't feel disappointed. Overall a very good show.

Scully

For the record, I thought Ian's Sunday night show was refreshingly entertaining.  Maybe it's me, but it seems like Ian has gotten better since he's only on once a month.

I do wish, though, that he'd leave his Twitter BFF's at the studio door.  His penchant for wasting time on stuff like that and his pronounced tendency to regress to the juvenile are his worst failings, INHO.

Regarding the news and Columbine, I agree the media is pathetic. But I have to add they are pretty much driven by viewers. Long dead are the days of news being news.

Sensationalism is what we want for news. We don't want facts we want someone or something to blame. Well, as long as the blame doesn't land on our doorstep.

Yeah the news is bad... the stupid fucks that want talking head opinions instead of factual information make the news bad.

Being new on this thread and considering the title is 'Ian Punnet'... I only have two words, douche & bag.

Ian is awesome... he's just a lil quirky.  I was so happy he booted that Aleppo codex guy who wouldn't give out any info.  There's nothing I hate more than a guest that comes on just to sell their book and thinks that talking about the theory's written within the book is going to stop people from buying it.  If anything when I hear info that perks my ears up I want to know more.  I'm not saying I'm out here buying books or anything but I just might steal the e-book if I'm so inclined.

I respect your opinion but stick to mine ;)

Awesome shows:
August 12 2006 Necronomicon (and Ians first run in with JC)
July 22 2006 Richard Kuklinski The Iceman his guest wrote a book on this guy who is probly one of the greatest hitmen ever to tell all

^This one. The show blew my mind. If you haven't seen them yet, watch the HBO documentaries on Kuklinski. Terrifying.

Yep, and I'm looking forward to an in depth interview on these books, regardless if they turn out to be real or not.

I actually watched these as well yesterday.  I remember them when I first saw them on HBO years ago...  His demeanor is so chilling.

Read the books, watched the specials.

Kuklinski undoubtedly killed people. However, I think many of his claims are ridiculous and have been disproven(via convictions of others) and his connections to the DiMeo "murder machine" are overblown. Members of DiMeo's crew have said he's a liar and was a bit player used sparingly. The idea he was part of the Castellano hit in December '85(which lead to Gotti's ascendancy) is laughable. If it was true, he would have been dead by 1986. An outsider like he would NEVER be considered for a role in a hit like that...and if he was, he would have been killed as well post haste.

Phil Carlo wasn't an investgator in the least, and apparently didn't challenge what he was told. Actually, he was almost a groupie. Read his "Night Stalker" books for further myth-pushing.

Sunday 8/26/12 and Punnet just posted this on his twitter stream:

@deaconpunnett: Late yesterday, soul of hero/astronaut Neil Armstrong left his body and passed into Snooki's new baby.#guidosinspace

I won't be defending Ian Punnet anymore. The guy's a douche as some of you have already stated. I was wrong. You were right.

Carry on

Jesus. He really is a child. It's unfunny, in bad taste and I have a real problem with someone his age referencing shit like that Jersey Shore foolishness. Indefensible indeed.

ziznak

That's messed up!  It's like he's the old guy at the college party cracking jokes trying to fit in with the "hip" kids on twitter... He should know better than that... I guess no apologies or anybody responding with a "how fucking dare you?" or anything huh?

What an inappropriate comment..  the Deacon should know better.

I'm hoping this was something he tweeted in some sort of xanex induced haze... I know he's been on different medications in the past that have sometimes made him act strange.

Remember Ian bringing some fraud on to 'channel' Michael Jackson just hours after MJ died.  He was noticably excited about it.

My tweet reply to the idiotpunnet

My tweet to Punnett:

@deaconpunnett What a contemptible dismissal of the passing of an American hero. I've been a fan on C2C, but no more.

His reply:

Really, you're one of those? The world certainly needs more phony umbrage. We'll try to get by without you.

I don't think the guy gives any thought at all to what a juvenile ass he comes across as sometimes in his sad and desperate need to be seen as 'hip'.

It's hard to believe an adult said these things. It's even harder to believe that a "man of faith" said this. Does he make jokes about the souls of the people in his church when they pass away? But it's okay to make jokes about the soul of a hero like Armstrong?

Very disappointing. Makes wonder if there's a casino attached to the church that he serves

My reply to his reply:

@deaconpunnett I guess I'm 'one of those' who knows we all say (and tweet) things we wish we hadn't. Most of us own it and apologize.

ChewMouse

It's bad that he said it, it's worse that he is so out of touch with his peers and his audience to have even believed his words would be funny. He clearly has no concept of American heroes or the subsequent backlash of his blithe and stupid comment about the death of just such an American.

Ian Punnett is all about Ian Punnett and I wash my paws of him. Done.

BobGrau

As a non-american, I must admit I wasn't offended by it in the slightest. But it doesn't take a genious to realise that a lot of people would be deeply upset. Idiot.

I wonder if he's actually trying to get fired from coast? Couldn't blame him.

b_dubb

It's in poor taste for a regular Joe. It's unbelievably inappropriate for a CHURCH DEACON to make such a remark. Hey Ian ... would Jesus make wisecracks about someone's passing? He's supposed to follow Christ's example. I don't think Jesus would see this as an opportunity to work on an imaginary stand up career

Eddie Coyle

Juvenilia should cease by 52. Ian however seems to retain every obnoxious trait found in teens and then becomes irate when it's pointed out. I'm not offended by what he said, but certainly annoyed by his constant "look I'm hip" references. I've defended the guy in the past, but not here. He's coming across as a smarmy dork desperate for attention.
